Or turning into a aul hag..............

So today I decided the Eyebrows needed a good pluck (I've got a great little Ikea lamp that shows all the strays)

Anyway, I found 3.
THREE big curly black hairs! at an inch long! just sat, growing there (smug bastards) from my chin and neck. (Neck wtf?)
And I'm going grey!

Do you have any signs, ???

Lighthearted.

Wearing my glasses more and more and my contact lenses less and less!
(Wouldn't have been seen dead in specs 10 years ago.) Hmm

Avoiding the computer accessories stations in stores as I haven't a clue of what 99% of the stuff is! Hmm

Totally incapable of wearing high heels any more. Used to live in them in the 70's/80's and 90's! Hmm

Bulk ordering my hair colour as I now have to do it every 3 weeks! Hmm

Openly declaring that all this lack of ironing by young women these days is slovenly! Hmm

Yep, definitely joined the doddering old buggers club. Sad

Rafflesway · 21/02/2017 17:40

Oh but I do know who Rag n Bone Man is although not terribly impressed and he doesn't look very "Human" to me Grin

The80sweregreat · 21/02/2017 17:40

Slippers are ace. My dh and i are addicted.
Watching Glastonbury on tv and thinking ' the loos must be rank'
I couldnt cope with the crowds.
Its so sad.

punicorn · 21/02/2017 17:41

I don't have a right knee and a left knee anymore - I have a good knee and a bad knee. They take it in turns!
Also I can't read small print unless it's in full light eyes up 80 year old DF's super duper reading lamp

tobee · 21/02/2017 17:42

I think when all the world leaders are younger than me will be the major tipping point. But then if Trump and Mugabe represent the alternative....

SparklyBusinessFuckingFairyNo1 · 21/02/2017 17:45

Lifting up my glasses to read small print......wtf?
I stood 3 rows from the front at a Panic concert after queuing for an hour with 17 year old Ds. Had a wonderful time but took me a week to recover.
tena ladies are a permanent item on my shopping list

justgivemethepinot · 21/02/2017 17:46

The80sweregreat · 21/02/2017 17:47

Dh has his own chair, his own space. You go near this area at your peril.

WhispersOnTheWind · 21/02/2017 17:49

More. The depressingly increasing number of times I have to stop myself saying: "Well, when I was your age..." And if I can't stop myself how much I sound like my mother.
When DH or I playfully squeeze the other's butt cheek, which used to be the preamble to a steamy bonk fest, and we're both happy to then carry on making a cup of tea prior to settling down on the sofa to watch a nice travelogue on the History Channel.
The person quite a bit older than me who says to everyone else in the room "You'd be too young to remember this but Whispers will..." And I do remember it.

barinatxe · 21/02/2017 17:49

Get more intolerant of people being twats, and be more comfortable about letting them know it.

The80sweregreat · 21/02/2017 17:52

I say ' when i was your age ' all the time.
Back in the day is another fav of mine.
No internet or mobiles then.
Kids just roll their young eyes at me and ponder a world without u tube.

atheistmantis · 21/02/2017 17:53

Inch long eyebrows
Grey chin hair
Going to bed early, I had a nap the other afternoon
Stressed or anxious
Cup of tea and and sit down
Not giving a shit what people think of me (about time !)

Archimandrite · 21/02/2017 17:54

The80's It IS good to know isn't it? A level English also my pride and joy as is the highest qualification I have!

The80sweregreat · 21/02/2017 17:55

Arch, cheered me up. I knew it was harder then.
My 70s education wasnt great either!

Katedotness1963 · 21/02/2017 17:57

Music in shops is much too loud.
If we got out for dinner I have to take my glasses off to read the menu and see my plate but put them back on to look round the room.
I suspect my feet are getting bigger because I trip going upstairs with monotonous regularity.
I go to bed with a hot water bottle but put the fan on too.
My leg hair would be more suited to an animal these days. Recently I found one I could wrap round my thumb. With some left over!?!
Insomnia. I go to bed, sleep for half an hour and am then awake till 6/7 in the morning. I told my husband that when I die don't bury me too deep, I'm bound to need to get up again...

Borisrules · 21/02/2017 17:59

Someone lent me a pen the other day.
I commented that it was a" nice writer"
I like to crochet
I called someone "love" today

imthelastsplash · 21/02/2017 18:00

The floor is definitely further away nowadays
The mole that sprouts hair now sprouts grey ones
My pants are much bigger (but they're soooo comfy)
I say 'I'm going to pop the heating on for a bit, it's a bit nippy' a lot more than I ever have

But a plus is I give even less of a shit what people think of me and my style is getting more and more bizarre (but again more comfy)

The80sweregreat · 21/02/2017 18:01

Not wanting to be near the door in a restaurant as its too cold.
Then complaining i am too hot..
Then the loos are upstairs.
Its no fun going out.
Leg hair does grow quickly as you age. Why?

m0therofdragons · 21/02/2017 18:04

I walked past a group of teens who were swearing and they noticed me an apologised. That made me feel old!

The80sweregreat · 21/02/2017 18:05

Teens saying sorry, am impressed!

Archimandrite · 21/02/2017 18:08

Oh and people offer to help me with my luggage on trains/planes/in stations etc. I'm a bit miffed that it's taken till I'm approaching 60 for this to happen because I've always been very small. Small isn't a thing that has recently happened and I could have done with help bunging my case on the luggage rack for at least 35 years :)

Graphista · 21/02/2017 18:08

"Grey hair. I wasn't supposed to go grey! My hair has always been the same colour as my Nan's hair and hers just faded to a lighter blonde. Mine's now greying around the hairline and there's a streak of grey from the crown." Hmm I thought my gran had the same, mum told me it was dyed! She just gradually changed to shades that suited her ageing skin tone. Grans been dead 12 years and I only learned LAST YEAR

So grey hair - tick
Ooft - whenever I move - tick
Flat shoes - tick
Comfy pants - tick
Pj's by 7pm - tick
Had new tablet 2 months, still learning how to use it - so not learning new tech - tick

"Several old schoolfriends have grandchildren" 2 of my friends grandchildren started school last sep! I'm 44!!

The piéce de resistance - my cpn was TWO when I got married!!

Major events far longer ago than I think - herald of free enterprise (30 yrs ago next month!) and hillsborough disaster (28 years ago this year) are events described as 'historical' to my dd at school (no they were just a few years ago!) Pps references to 1993 and 1994 I'm wondering what they're referring to. When I was at school it was events from grandparents generation not parents! - so losing a real sense of time passing - tick

No longer listen to radio 1, it all sounds dreadful (dd has it on CONSTANTLY) listen to absolute 80's and heart instead - I draw the line at Smooth!! So out of touch with music - tick

Holding things at arms length to read while also squinting (glasses don't help) - tick

MY seat on the sofa - tick

When I went back to uni the younger students SUPPOSEDLY had a-level results at least one grade higher than mine, yet their basic subject knowledge was appalling to my mind! I discussed with a lecturer one time and he said if they'd sat the same exams I had they'd have failed!

Notonyournellly · 21/02/2017 18:11

these are all hilarious!
I don't go out more than once or twice a week in the evenings, and never two nights in a row unless I absolutely can't avoid it.
I hate driving in the dark
I know where every public toilet is within a thirty mile radius of home
I am too hot most of the time
I need my DCs to read things for me in low light
Matronly bust

I hate all the aches and pains, and menopausal exhaustion, but in all honesty, I've never been happier. Like several PPs said, you give far fewer fucks as to what anyone thinks of you.

The80sweregreat · 21/02/2017 18:14

Smooth was on the radio at the docs the other day. It was awful, but i knew all the songs. Easyyy listening is so boring!
Agree that radio one is dreadful too and Heart only plays clean bandit.
Radio 2 is ok..
