Or turning into a aul hag..............

So today I decided the Eyebrows needed a good pluck (I've got a great little Ikea lamp that shows all the strays)

Anyway, I found 3.
THREE big curly black hairs! at an inch long! just sat, growing there (smug bastards) from my chin and neck. (Neck wtf?)
And I'm going grey!

Do you have any signs, ???

Lighthearted.

I used to love the "Now" albums as a teenager. Picked up "Now 95" in Waitrose on Sunday, whilst queuing to pay. Could not have told you what a single one of the songs was, and hardly any of the artists!

My first album was Now 2 Shock

SecretWitch · 21/02/2017 16:46

My gp and gynae are both younger than me. I work at a police department and often find myself saying "Surely that officer is 17". I would rather read a good book than have sex :(.

WhispersOnTheWind · 21/02/2017 16:47

Yes to the superfluous hairs or the lack thereof.
The store assistant who looked about 12 (but was probably mid-20s) the other day who asked if I wanted to try a new wrinkle cream. The 30 something coworker who mentioned helpfully that her insurance does really good rates for the over-50s when I asked who she used - I'm not over 50, not even bloody close.
Oh and 'oof' syndrome here too, I see stairlift and walk-in bath adverts and start nodding and thinking they look like a very attractive proposition.

OldBooks · 21/02/2017 16:48

Working at a Uni makes me feel so old. I was giving a seminar just now and mentioned a huge event that happened in 1993 and did they remember it. None of them had been born yet Blush which I shoukd have known really maths not my strong point

WhingyNinja · 21/02/2017 16:48

I am essentially a 70 year old in a 27 year olds body.

I love a nice cup of tea

I knit and crochet for fun

I say ooof a lot, bending, sitting, crouching to play with DD, doesn't matter! 'OOOOOOF!'

I don't know any of the current music in the charts and if I do hear it I say it all sounds the same

My idea of a good night is a nice sit down and the aforementioned nice cup of tea

pops off to make a cup of tea

WhingyNinja · 21/02/2017 16:50

And I love Great Canal Journeys, Michael Portillo's American Rail Journeys and always tune into Question Time and This Week 😳

storynanny · 21/02/2017 16:53

A nice nurse who did my last smear test was a girl I taught as an infant.
The boy selling the tickets at the cinema did not ask to see I'd when I asked for 2 senior tickets. I was only 60 recently and would really really like to be met with surprise when I ask for senior citizen tickets.

phoenix1973 · 21/02/2017 16:56

New Hairs where I don't want them.
Coarse, white hairs where I want my lovely hairs to be.
I found it immensely rewarding to wax my upper lip and nostrils yesterday.
I'm a woman ffs. What the fuck do I need nasal hairs, upper lip hairs and hairs on the protruding bit below my Lower lip but above my chin???

phoenix1973 · 21/02/2017 16:58

Oh yes, the sore knees, lower back and wrists. I'm not liking those.

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 21/02/2017 16:59

Clicking knees every time I stand up.

Yes to the ooof whenever I kneel down.

The palaver of getting up off the floor is both painful and embarrassing.

Needing my reading glasses to read packets and instruction booklets.

Gingernaut · 21/02/2017 16:59

I work in a hospital.

The junior doctors are children!

midsomermurderess · 21/02/2017 17:00

Dodgy knees, particularly when going down stairs, which is grim as I live in a top floor flat. I think it might be arthritis. I should go the the doctor but I'm sure I'll be sent way and told to lose weight, which I know I should do.

The80sweregreat · 21/02/2017 17:02

Getting up , easier to just stay on the floor.
If i kneel my knees complain. They dont bend anymore nicely.
Getting into the shower is a feat.

Kevinbaconsrealwife · 21/02/2017 17:05

I can get down on the floor but I'm buggered if I can get up again without clinging onto furniture or a leg !!! 😳😳😳😳😳

yorkshapudding · 21/02/2017 17:05

DH and I went out for drinks with some friends the other night. I went to the loo and when I came back they were all discussing a rather fancy new vacuum cleaner one friend has just purchased. And I was actually interested.

PrettyLittleBrownEyedMe · 21/02/2017 17:05

OldBooks that happened to me too: I was gibbering with incomprehension at the blank looks on my students' faces when I tried to make reference to a current event to explain a point I was making.

It was the sinking of the Herald of Free Enterprise and these were sixth formers Blush

Also: key sign of getting old = having a spare light bulb BEFORE YOU NEED IT

Froggie13 · 21/02/2017 17:06

Always wanting a nice cup of tea

In pyjamas by 7 at the latest

Night outs sound like too much hassle

And I've just discovered the ultimate old lady habit - talc after a bath!

I'm in my 30s.....

TheGirlWhoWasntThere · 21/02/2017 17:07

Walking into a room (more and more frequently) and having not a clue why I went there.

Being tired all the time.

Enjoying an evening nap.

Wearing nothing but flat Dr Marten shoes and boots as they are comfy. I own so many beautiful pairs of high heels but now they are sadly ignored and unloved.

Cups of tea. I love my cups of tea! I've had cider in the fridge since Christmas and I've had no inclination to drink it.

Bumblebiscuits · 21/02/2017 17:10

Yes doctors and police look like children 👶
I do like a nice cup of tea
Prefer talking radio to music most of the time
Can never remember people's names (but can always picture them)
Enjoy gardening
Am deffo an oofer

Archimandrite · 21/02/2017 17:10

I have curly long eyebrow hairs
I've had laser hair removal for the chin/face bristles
I only wear trainers or smart versions of trainers
I have a wrist brace, 2 ankle braces and 2 knee braces. I usually need at least one of these per day to get by.
I am called Grandma by someone.
Many GPs and hospital doctors look younger than my DD.
I have just ordered an embroidery (now that I have new reading glasses I feel I can tackle it!)
My friends and I have started talking more about our tablets and illnesses. Something that drove my brother's and I up the wall when older rellies were round.
My free bus pass is within sight (as long as the government don't have to cut them).
I could apply to live in a flat for over 55's if I wanted.
When a 'new' fashion trend comes out I'm like "Oh lord, not These AGAIN.'
I'm stopping now. Too depressing.

The80sweregreat · 21/02/2017 17:11

Froggie, im 20 years on you and do / think all of these things.

I Knew someone who went to a rave last year. She went out as i was going up to bed!

FaintlyBaffled · 21/02/2017 17:11

DH and I bought a Welsh dresser at the weekend. It is indeed a thing of beauty and I'm tremendously proud of it, yet have had to refrain from posting photos on social media for fear of looking tragically old Grin

MixedUpConfusion · 21/02/2017 17:12

Standing in bus queues discussing the weather and the excitement of being able to get my washing hung out.

When I'm asked what qualifications I have and I'm like, "Well, some CSE's and a few O Levels..."

Buying Prima instead of Cosmopolitan

dudsville · 21/02/2017 17:13

That this thread could make me laugh out loud on public transport. And that I don't care.
I'm desperate now for a cup of tea!

The80sweregreat · 21/02/2017 17:14

If i say 'o levels' i get blank looks.
Much harder in my day of course. Practically a degree..
