Yes, Salmond IS AN EEJIT.

To claim he cant hear due to 'tens of thousands of protestors outside' is really stupid unless he is ABSOLUTELY sure of the numbers.

Otherwise he risks being mocked for his Trump-esque inflation of the crowd numbers

WERE there '10's of thousands'?

The people who spoke in support of Trump all seemed remarkably similar. Just saying

Jon Snow was very good interviewing dodgy Trump advisor at 7.15.

Trump should be invited to tea with Paxman.

1/ So, the news is that Trump has select Lt. Gen. H. R. McMaster as his new National Security Advisor. This is interesting... (thread)

More
2/ It's interesting to those of us familiar (even generally) with Pentagon gossip because LTG McMaster is widely respected...

More
3/ ...in part because LTG McMaster, throughout his career, is known to powerfully question conventional wisdom and the status quo.

More
4/ In a way, McMaster is Trump's siamese opposite. Both question the status quo, but only McMaster is consistently right in doing so.

More
5/ McMaster is known for bucking the system in a responsible manner that has won him backlash from his senior officers in the past.

More
6/ For example, despite his dazzling record, he was twice passed over for promotion to brigadier general because he didn't "go with things".

More
7/ SO... here's the million dollar question: Trump is a colossal nightmare who fucks up constantly. McMaster is a renowned professional...

More
8/ ...who isn't afraid to challenge his superiors. What's going to happen between these two in the Situation Room?

More
9/ This is all to say that I am incredibly relievedthrilled eventhat LTG McMaster has been selected as the National Security Advisor.

amispartacus · 20/02/2017 20:40

I'm very concerned with the attitude some MPs and commentators seem to have that 'the people have spoken' so if you lost, then be quiet.

There was an attitude that the American people elected Trump so be quiet as you're disrespecting the American people.

Hmm

The Hill reporting about 300K protesters at Parliament Square.

nocoolnamesleft · 20/02/2017 20:43

So, um, assuming this visit goes ahead, could the protests include a "best ultra fake toupee" contest?

It is the same arguement used to shut down any discussion on brexit Ami. It is pretty much saying you are a minority so you don't matter. Since when was that an OK sentiment? Hmm

GingerIvy · 20/02/2017 20:46

So is the Trump visit going ahead or not???

cozietoesie · 20/02/2017 20:46

Officially? I guess so.

President Trump's new travel ban executive order is nearing completion cnn.it/2lfl2g0

BiglyBadgers · 20/02/2017 20:48

Yes the visit is going ahead. May stated the other week it would happen whether anyone else liked it or not... Because she's the boss..So there. Or words to that effect.

cozietoesie · 20/02/2017 20:48

Brenda will figure a way out, I reckon. Smile

woman12345 · 20/02/2017 20:49

she's the boss she's got dictator envy.

Lweji · 20/02/2017 20:49

In that new travel ban, did they include travelling every weekend to Florida by highest level Administration?

BiglyBadgers · 20/02/2017 20:50

This was simply a debate on a petition. It was not an actual debate on whether the visit would happen, but on whether the house supported the sentiment of the petition. It doesn't actually mean anything substantial, though it is symbolic I guess and I suspect Trump will be most upset about it.

amispartacus · 20/02/2017 20:51

Exactly - nearly half the people voted Remain, just over half voted for Clinton.

But it seems like people who voted differently to the actual result are told to shut up.

Half the country (US / UK) are being ignored. Not having their concerns listened to. Having concerns listened to is NOT the same as wanting the result changed.

I suppose it depends on how Fox reports it.
