Fox & Friends - "Trump would be willing to remove Bannon from National Security Council" link to embedded Wall Street Journal post on Fox

Responses -

"@foxandfriends why? Why even promote this on @FoxNews. This is #fakenews UNTIL IT HAPPENS!"

"@foxandfriends @FoxNews
FAKE NEWS AGAIN !!! What is wrong with you people. FOX news is becoming just like the rest."

So, er, that's good.

BiglyBadgers · 22/02/2017 08:58

So, brexit is not going to reduce immigration after all. So what was the point again? Hmm

I've attached the times article image and the link as it is behind a paywall.

Ha! That fox post made me laugh cussing :o

Destinysdaughter · 22/02/2017 09:15

This is heartbreaking. A video from the women at Standing Rock who are about to lose their homeland. Sad

SanFranBear · 22/02/2017 09:25

Cussing - I remember the profound sadness I felt waking up to Brexit when I realised that all the 'progress' that had been made over the last decades seemed like no progress at all. I know there were complex reasons why people voted etc etc, but at the heart is the 'America First' vision which is UK uberalles Sad

The news in that Times piece above is going to make a lot of people angry. Not just your racists and xenophobes - although they will be spitting - but also just because it once again underlines that the argument to leave was really flawed and people weren't voting for what they thought they were.

Also, you may have missed this impromptu press conference with Trump, recently.
At the end the journalist was channeling Paxman. Grin

Ok, it might have been somewhat childish.

TheClaws · 22/02/2017 09:52

Thank you everyone. You've been so thoughtful in your responses. I've really been struggling with it - but to know I'm not alone helps so much Flowers

Lweji · 22/02/2017 09:52

I had a weird dream last night where I was MNetting and suddenly someone posted that DT had died. Some concern about fake news, but then I must have woken up. Sad

I definitely need a break.

yeOldeTrout · 22/02/2017 10:03

Did anyone listen to Radio4 this morning, talking about the divorce settlement & Junker's statements about future commitments UK has to EU?

It's like providing child support for all the kids (projects) that UK has committed to. We will continue paying in for decades to come.

AndHoldTheBun · 22/02/2017 10:26

Bigly, your post of 8.42am is absolutely spot on.
I'm fortunate that my DH and student age DC are left leaning liberals (shame about my extended family), it must be even more difficult when a household is fractured along political lines.

Natsku · 22/02/2017 10:31

My dad is Tory, Thatcher was his hero, and its very hard to discuss political things with him sometimes (but fun - tea time debates are the family hobby Grin ) but I am very sure he is against Trump and I doubt he voted for Brexit seeing as mum is a European citizen, not British.

Come to think of it, I have no idea who my mum supports politically (though she can only vote in local elections anyway) - she takes the concept of the secret ballot extremely seriously and will never divulge who she has voted for. Probably the outcome of growing up in a country where, up until just a couple of decades ago, the people were strictly split between Left and Right, even to the extend that the children of people who voted for the working parties could only attend working party organised sports clubs etc. and the children of the people that voted for the conservative parties had to attend their own clubs!

Natsku · 22/02/2017 10:33

My OH is quite Right-leaning, especially when it comes to taxes (being in a microbusiness he does tend to get hit particularly heavily by taxes, but also benefits a whole lot from them which he conveniently dismisses), voted for The Finns Party (but regrets it now) but we get on ok, have the occasional heated discussion but mostly avoid political subjects.

peaceout · 22/02/2017 10:37

someone posted that DT had died
I wonder how robust his health is, how much impact the stress of being potus is having?
Wonder what sort of shape his arteries are in?

peaceout · 22/02/2017 10:41

He's not hugely fat but seems to be mostly visceral fat...he has that thin leg /fat torso thing going on, so low muscle mass and lots of fat around his organs....doing nasty carcinogenic things to his body😈

cozietoesie · 22/02/2017 10:47

woman and Lweji.

I just don't know McMasters that well so I need to do some work on him. Bear in mind, though, that having a strong minded military man may not always work in just the way you expected. (I'm thinking particularly of McArthur's run-in with, and subsequent relief by, Truman.)

UnGoogleable · 22/02/2017 10:48

This thread has moved more slowly than the others, is that because DT is also slowing down on the scandallous acts? Has he run out of cock ups to preside over, or perhaps his staff are getting a better handle on him finally?

I think the Dakota pipeline is an utter travesty, but we must remember that this was proposed under Obama and took a hell of a lot of protest to get it stopped. Yes the Trump administration are bastards for trying to reinstante it, but let's not forget that they're not the only ones. What was Obamas stance on it, does anyone know?

peaceout · 22/02/2017 11:10

I think I read somewhere that he mainly eats junk food
Perfect😁
All processed food, lots of meat, no fruit or veggies
Keep it up Donald👍

Lweji · 22/02/2017 11:15

As far as I can tell the Dakota pipeline hasn't been under the President's remit. It was approved by Iowa and South Dakota and USACE, until Obama decided to act on the several protests and court cases and petitions, but, it seems, to have a more comprehensive environmental impact of the last leg under the lake. Trump signed an order to speed up the process (i.e. basically skip detailed assessments).

yeOldeTrout · 22/02/2017 11:21

I wonder what it means that DT has slowed down with the big political gestures (like ExOs). Was he talked into easing up the pace by aides, why are they bothered... or does he have any sense himself that he needs to think a little first?

What does DT do when he goes to FA each weekend, that he couldn't do in DC, Play golf? Is Melania joining him each time or is she usually staying in NYC?

Lweji · 22/02/2017 11:26

I think he wanted to show very quickly that he meant business. He was itching to show he was as he promised. He's probably signed as many EO as he could, without having to go through Congress, etc. His nominations are taking their time (as usual).
It's where the slower pace of government has hit him. And perhaps he's learning that he does need to study some issues in a bit more detail. Who wants another failed Yemen raid?

UnGoogleable · 22/02/2017 11:27

Ah thanks for explaining that Lweji that makes sense.

Those poor people at Standing Rock. They fought so hard, and they thought they'd won that fight, and now they'll have to go through it all again (and will probably lose this time).

UnGoogleable · 22/02/2017 11:29

I think he would have had a load of EOs planned and ready, to hit the ground running. Now they're done, so he's having to get on with the day job. Which apparently he doesn't seem to enjoy and would rather faff about on Twitter and play golf.

What's the general feeling on his pick for NSA, he seems like a sound enough bloke?
