I read The Authoritarians e-book last night that was recommended here the other day and it really nails a lot of what is going on politically at the moment in the US (and to some extent in the UK). Really useful in understanding the psychology of the folks who support Trump/Brexit no matter what.

If you haven't read it yet it I would definitely recommend it.

Personally I think he had a number of EOs still to go, but ended up coming to a screeching halt because he was gobsmacked at the courts stopping his progress, so it halted his "progress." I think if the courts hadn't stopped the Muslim ban (I refuse to call it a travel ban - we all know what it is), the religious rights EO would have followed shortly thereafter. He pulled back because he wasn't expecting opposition and it temporarily stopped him. If he gets momentum again, I fully expect to see him continue in the same vein.

I think Ginger's right. He fully expected to take office and start issuing EOs and 'making deals' left and right with no pushback or opposition. I'm sure that's what always happens when he starts/takes over a business. He hit a brick wall with his first major EO when the 9th Circuit blocked it.

Gobsmacked? Probably. But I think the apparent slowdown is more to do with him having a massive legal staff (private, not govt attorneys) madly working and researching on how to circumvent law to get his 'agenda' through and top PR sharks working on how to spin it to his 'fans' (and the world). All working behind the scenes. In secret. To circumvent The Constitution, the Balance of Powers, and the Will of the People.

I find it interesting that they are still gunning for Clinton, but letting Trump run wild. There have been a number of GOP that have stated that they don't want to waste time going after Trump while they can run through the stuff they've wanted to do for ages but couldn't. I really think people need to let go of this idea that Ivanka Trump is a stabiliser of sorts on her father or that she is less a part of this. She has always been solidly at his side throughout his business dealings, she remains with her husband who is also involved fully in many shady dealings, she herself has been involved in shady dealings. She appears to be cut from the same cloth.
