To think that there MUST be a beatles song for everyone

Quite a few people have said on here they don't like the Beatles music. But surely with songs ranging from the likes of Hey Jude, Let it be, The long and winding road to In my life, And i love her, I wanna hold your hand and countless countless more there's got to be something for everyone.

I'm prepared for people to say they hate their music but it's so varied and diverse that i struggle to understand this. Aibu.

Grapes I'm not dismissing any music genre, only rap which isn't actual music. And this thread has only took a bad turn because a few people decided to alter the whole point of the thread by saying who they preferred. It isn't about who we prefer, i prefer many more than the beatles but that isn't the point.

I just can't stand Paul McCartney. Everything about him makes me punchy.

Nah. It took a bad turn when you dismissed an entire genre as 'not music' just because you don't like it. Which is worse than just not liking the Beatles, IMO.

You said punk isn't music too.

seagazer · 19/02/2017 11:17

Hotfuzzed Actually, the true definition of music is an artistic form of auditory communication incorporating instrumental OR vocal tones in a structured and continuous manner, music is the sounds produced by singers OR musical instruments.

Right, gonna hide this thread. To get accused of being JUDGEMENTAL when talking about music and what we consider good music is unbelievable. If we can't be judgemental over music then i fucking give up. I started a good thread which as usual got spoiled by a few argumentative fuckers who for the sake of having an argument start talking about who THEIR preferences in music are. The thread wasn't about that, start your own fucking thread if you want to talk about which artists you like, then you can bleat on about your "rap" crap to your hearts content. This was a thread about Beatles songs, not mindless, monotone morans TALKING. To the person who described the Beatles as "mediocre".......UNBELIEVABLE !!

Op can you really not see the difference between

'I don't like the Beatles'

And

'rap is not real music'.

Hmm

I get the same look when I "confess" that I can't stand Elvis either

Me too, LordPercy

Never liked him, nor the Beatles. If a song of theirs is playing, I'll sing along, but not particularly because I like it, just because when I was growing up it was either Elvis, The Beatles playing on the wireless (radio Grin, the Moody Blues or the Rolling Stones (the latter two whom I preferred, even at four years old).

But I can understand why some people like what they like, and wouldn't criticise their choice. It is odd that the OP has started a thread wondering why some people don't like The Beatles, then pontificates about how Punk or Rap is crap. Musical taste is personal choice, as is Art. I like Heavy Metal and Rock, also some Opera and Classical, with other things in between. I like Mozart, Verdi and Puccini, for instance, not keen on Wagner. Some people slate Coldplay, but I quite like them. Some hated David Bowie, I liked him.

It's an odd thing to TELL people they should like something.

MrsMeeseeks · 19/02/2017 11:45

Blimey.

JustAnotherPoster00 · 19/02/2017 11:50

Just RTFT and that took a turn lol Grin

SandrasAnnoyingFriend · 19/02/2017 11:53

'I started a good thread'
'UNBELIEVABLE'

You're sounding Trump-esque with your last post. 😂

neonrainbow · 19/02/2017 11:54

Grin oh dear! We're allowed to be judgemental as long as we don't judge the beatles!

StripeyDeckchair · 19/02/2017 12:04

Yes

Don't like The Beatles.

I'm too young to have been around in their heyday & all I think of when the name is mentioned is Paul Macartney singing badly, out of tune at the London Olympics

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 19/02/2017 12:37

Out of 409 songs I like
You've got to hide your love away
We can work it out
Here Comes the Sun
Eleanor Rigby
(but not enough to own any of them)

I can tolerate
Penny Lane
Lucy in the Sky
Strawberry Fields
She's Leaving Home

With a Little Help from My Friends in the Joe Cocker cover version is. brilliant

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 19/02/2017 12:44

I was born in 1959. Growing up you were either a Beatles fan or a Stones fan

I was born in 1959 I was a Beatles fan until around 10 years old.

user1471545174 · 19/02/2017 13:21

Me too, I was a fan of both but the Beatles didn't frighten me Grin

I remember loving Help as a child because of the long words.

They were unbelievable at the time, a completely new sound and after the first few hits some extraordinarily sophisticated songs, all while they were in their early 20s.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 19/02/2017 13:26

I can't stand listening to them to be honest. Some of the songs are OK and would be bearable if they were sung by someone else.

I like some of George Harrison's solo stuff but it rather stick pins in my own eyes than suffer anything by John Lennon.
