To think that there MUST be a beatles song for everyone

Quite a few people have said on here they don't like the Beatles music. But surely with songs ranging from the likes of Hey Jude, Let it be, The long and winding road to In my life, And i love her, I wanna hold your hand and countless countless more there's got to be something for everyone.

I'm prepared for people to say they hate their music but it's so varied and diverse that i struggle to understand this. Aibu.

Rap music has some of the most beautiful and complicated lyrics of any musical genre.

I hate music snobbery more than anything,

BestIsWest · 19/02/2017 00:08

I love them. We all do here. They had great songs, they had crap songs (I have to leave the room if Oh blah di or Come together come on).

Most genres have something to offer though. I liked punk (70s teenager). I even like the odd Coldplay song.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 19/02/2017 00:11

Hate their music with every fibre of my being! I have never heard any song of theirs that I thought was any good.

My parents are the generation that was in their early teens when the Beatles came out - it was apparently good when it was new as they were the first of their kind but they were eclipsed by those that came after.

BestIsWest · 19/02/2017 00:12

Punk and rap are around 40 years old, I think they'll last another 10.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 19/02/2017 00:13

I like rap, heavy metal, rock, 80s (eps powr ballads Blush) and opera - I just think that their music isn't really all that

NowtAbout · 19/02/2017 00:19

Oh OP you just lost me. I love rap and dub and reggae and techno and house and punk and ragga and indie and ska. I struggle with metal and garage though but appreciate others can.

I love almost all Beatles songs, Though hey Jude is dull and paul macartney is irritating beyond belief.

I don't really have a point as I'm pissed but there you go.

GorgeousPie · 19/02/2017 05:30

I think some Beatles songs are a bit blah and some are great - I love While My Guitar Gently Weeps. DH is a big fan though and now DD4 quite often asks to listen to them in the car - she loves When I'm 64, Here Comes the Sun or You've Got to Hide Your Love Away. If you are a Beatles fan though I would totally recommend checking out the Bootleg Beatles live, they are really good!

TaliDiNozzo · 19/02/2017 06:27

Ooh the frog chorus. Special memories for me, that one.

Favourite song is probably Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds or I Wanna Hold Your Hand. But there are tonnes of others I love.

Never actually recall meeting anyone who said they didn't like The Beatles!

woodhill · 19/02/2017 09:55

Bootleg Beatles are brilliant. I saw them last year after not seeing them for about 25 years'.

MrsMeeseeks · 19/02/2017 10:00

I wouldn't say I hate the Beatles, but I would never choose to listen to one of their songs.

What is rap, then, if it isn't music?

AliTheMinx · 19/02/2017 10:06

I'm not a big Beatles fan (pretty sure they only use about 4 chords in all their songs!), but they do have some absolute classics! I really like 'All You Need Is Love' and 'Let It Be' - both timeless.

seagazer · 19/02/2017 10:27

I hate music snobbery more than anything,
Does that apply against people who look down their noses at Beatles music too?

OP posts:
seagazer · 19/02/2017 10:30

what is rap then, if it isn't music?
It's poetry, if it was music it could be written down on sheet music.

If the beatles were around now there's no way they'd be famous. They are mediocre.

Julju · 19/02/2017 10:34

I don't like The Beatles but I do like Yesterday when it's covered by someone else, so YANBU

HazelBite · 19/02/2017 10:35

The album Rubber Soul is a classic!

I grew up in the 60's with their music (i actually preferred the Stones) but have come to appreciate them in "later life" especially many of their album tracks as opposed to their chart toppers.

I do think however Paul McCartney should do us all a favour and not sing anymore!

seagazer · 19/02/2017 10:41

Neon can you name me an up and coming band who write their own music who you consider relevant today then?

I agree with what this man has to say about rap.

seagazer · 19/02/2017 10:44

I agree hazel Paul McCartney is terrible to listen to now, he's had his day.

y0rkier0se · 19/02/2017 10:55

Real Love is the one for me. Gets me every time. John Lennon's solo stuff too.

neonrainbow · 19/02/2017 10:57

Halestorm. But they're rock so maybe you don't consider them real music either.

The beatles music is just not exciting. Theres no passion or soul. It's like musical wallpaper.

You don't say you don't rate it as music, you said it's not music. That makes you sound like a judgemental twat.
So i'm a judgemental twat because i say that rap isn't music?? No i'm being factual love, rap cannot by any definition be described as music. It's words!!! and if you want my opinion appallingly dire but that's another story.

OP posts:
Hotfuzzed · 19/02/2017 11:04

So is classical music not music because nobody sings?? There is literally a best and a tune behind that poetry op. And most rap songs have a sung chorus.
