Someone else bought my sister a 'sister' charm for her bracelet

My sister has a big birthday coming up. she collects charms for a popular form of charm bracelet. I had saved to get her a nice sister charm only to find her SIL (my brother in laws sister) has bought her thr very same one.

Abu to be a bit nose out of joint about this. At the end of the day my brother in laws wife is not my sisters sister. There's only one and that's me!

I like the way Lola thinks.

You've both unknowingly bought the same charm. If i was the sil i think i'd just give way and change it for another charm.

I think that is an important distinction Joan

I have 3 bils, who have all been around since I was under 10. I love them and treat them like my big brothers and over the years, much to my embarrassment at times, I was like their little sister. None of them have younger t
sisters and I don't have a biological brother.

My sil through my husband is just that, my husband's brothers wife. Maybe it's because we would never seek each other out as friends out with the fact we married brothers or that we met as adults, the relationship isn't the same.

She does call my pils mum and dad, which is weird

I think id be peeved, too, and Me and my sister aren't even particularly close.
I mean your husband's brother's wife is a bit too distant to be buying such a personal gift for your sister. Put like that the words monkey's and uncle come to mind
Of course the actual gesture of the gift is lovely.

No aww, it's the op's sisters sister in law. The sisters husband's sister. The same relationship your husband's sister would be to you! Grin

Just to clarify I stated that blood does not equal family.

Why are people so confused? It's simple enough, its the OP's sisters husbands sister (her SIL). That isn't distant.
