Hello all,

I was going to ask on Style&Beauty but figured the responses there would be quite skewed and so I came here where there would be unbiased responses and traffic.

At the train station yesterday I saw this young lady who looked very well put together. Her outfit was coordinated, nails done, eyebrows done, makeup done but not overly so. The thing that stood out the most though , was her hair. It looked lovely ; highlights and nice cut (ha can't explain well enough) and she just looked like someone who took pride of the way she looks. I've since spoken to my friend about this and the possible cost of such upkeep. That got me wondering how much others here spend on their grooming and upkeep.

Clothes; Makeup; Nails; Hair; Eyebrows; Eyelashes; you get the jist !

Very frugal minimalist here, in fact I feel so out of step I'm beginning to doubt I'm actually a woman Grin

Makeup: I bought about £150 worth for my wedding a few years ago, which I still mostly have. Spent about £30 in Lush on makeup since then. Only wear makeup less than once a month... eyeliner, eyeshadow, mascara, face powder & lippy.

Nails: I have a decent pair of nail scissors, but that's all the pampering they get.

Hair removal: I own an epilator and bikini strimmer.

Hair: I do the MN unicorn self cut when I can be arsed. Occasional cube of lush henna. £4 for a refillable bottle of eco shampoo that lasts a few months. Odd squirt of leave in conditioner.

Eyebrows: pluck any outlying strays as required. Eyelashes, only v occasional coat of mascara.

General toiletries

25p value toothpaste
Bicarb for deodorant (yes it is effective)
Olive plain soap
Dr Hauschka face cream (my one little luxury)

Clothes, I do spend a bit more on. I find lots of lovely stuff in the local charity shops. So maybe £150 per year 2nd hand & £100 p a splurges on new stuff. Usually live in White Stuff tunics, jeans & sneakers.
