To use dd's hand me downs on ds (for one week!)

Going away next week and snow is likely (not guaranteed). We have an old set of sallopettes and ski jacket dd used when she was 2. They are purple. Rather than buy ds (now 2) a fresh set for the chance they will get used, im planning on using these.

Dd has new as she is now in age 7 clothes, and as we have since had a ds weve bought her grey sallopettes to re use and a white coat.

Im getting the odd Hmm face off my dad some of our holiday companions. Apparently they are for girls and therefore it would be cruel to dress ds in them. Maximum 2 times. Ive attached a photo.

Pah! Use them. Ds (19 months) proudly sports his sisters old (pink) wellies at the park. I refuse to pay for a new pair for the sake of a few months.

Definitely use them! At 2, he's not going to care if people mistake him for a girl and you could always stick a Thomas the Tank Engine bobble hat on him to confuse people!

My sons go to an all boys school - their uniform is purple!

1- Purple is a neutral colour!
2- those H&M snow clothes are excellent

My now 8 year old son insisted he wanted a green Tutu at the age of 3. He wore it until he was 5, he's very not girly now. My almost year old son is very into My Little Pony (prob due to horse riding lessons). He is getting lots of My Little ponies for his birthday as well as lego and other things. People worry about gendering things for children way too much.

Seeing as my DC school colour is purple, there is clearly a problem around here!

Purple is fine and I'm willing to bet that with a hat and boots and gloves it won't make the tiniest amount of difference.

blackteasplease · 16/02/2017 00:04

Of course he should wear them!

BabychamSocialist · 16/02/2017 01:04

I think it looks fab, personally. If you're that bothered by the colour (or he is) just tell people he's the Joker.

Omg I've been dressing DS in purple for years. I feel so guilty for exposing him to this! Can anyone help. I don't know what to do. I so should have stuck to blue so he was more manly. May be I can sit him in front of match of the day on loop to counteract this terrible parenting!
