What on earth is this? (Found outside my house)

Yesterday came home to find a bit of folded-up paper wedged in a crack in the fence wall bit (pavement goes right past it). Opened it up to find 2x2p coins inside unrecognisable writing - see pic!

Post it on Reddit. I guarantee you'll get an answer within a couple of hours.

tillytown · 11/02/2017 00:38

There's a bit that says 'to ouo' which is Latin, but I can't make out any other words so it's probably just a coincidence

TheQuestingVole · 11/02/2017 00:38

I think it's cursive Hebrew.

muhajaba · 11/02/2017 00:39

I don't think it's Ethiopian. I really want to know what it is!

TheCuriousOwl · 11/02/2017 00:39

To whoever mentioned Ethiopian- it's not Amharic, I recognise that and it's not that

Timetogetup0630 · 11/02/2017 00:41

DS 17 suggests Klingon...but I don't think so.

RB68 · 11/02/2017 00:41

my first thought was that it was a letter asking for help perhaps from someone trafficked. I would let the Police have it and follow through

Timetogetup0630 · 11/02/2017 00:43

Rb68 surely too neat and tidy.....and why 2x 2p ?

wundringnow · 11/02/2017 00:43

This is a boring (and sad) suggestion, but to me it looks like the work of someone with schizophrenia or other disorder. I have known several people who weren't properly treated, who did things like write manifestos or strange messages in illegible script and place them in spots with a significance known only to themselves.

Living in the city perhaps it's a wanderer or homeless person..

illegitimateMortificadospawn · 11/02/2017 00:44

Money to weight it down?

illegitimateMortificadospawn · 11/02/2017 00:45

A tangent, but I need a grown up to tell me to go to bed. Please?

wundringnow · 11/02/2017 00:49

Off you toddle, illegitimate! Don't want to be cranky in the morning.

oldbirdy · 11/02/2017 00:49

I once worked with a teen with severe autism who would copy out symbols over and over, all almost identical. This looks like a more sophisticated version of the same thing; the "scribbles" are pretty much identical in each line. Does feel a bit weird. Hope you find out what it is!

illegitimateMortificadospawn · 11/02/2017 00:51

Thank you Wundring. The internet is a terrible distraction. Grin

DramaQueenofHighCs · 11/02/2017 00:59

Ok, so this is sufficiently intriguing and strange for me to wish I hadn't read this just before bed and just after watching a programme on strange phenomena! Grin

Yes I'm blatantly place marking too!

Smitff · 11/02/2017 00:59

I'm no expert but that doesn't look like actual script to me. There's too much repetition of the same letter/symbol/shape. It's been practised, that's for sure.

Also, the pennies suggest token value or symbolism rather than any form of payment or inducement, or just weight.

I'm afraid I'm with wundering just as a matter of likelihood and probabilities. Not as exciting, granted!

readyforno2 · 11/02/2017 01:06

I have nothing to add but I'm entirely fascinated, and placemarking

Darlink · 11/02/2017 01:10

Yes to Reddit

Bubbinsmakesthree · 11/02/2017 01:12

I am with wundering and smitff

StarryIllusion · 11/02/2017 01:13

It's not Latin, I don't think. I read a little Latin and I don't recognise any of that. Agree with a previous poster that it looks like the same bit of writing repeated. My first thought was pennies for the boatman as well. Such a morbid bunch!

MommaGee · 11/02/2017 01:13

I bet the Winchester brothers could solve it

GoodDayToYou · 11/02/2017 01:14

My first thought was that it looks like a spell. But it could just be kids messing about??

GoodDayToYou · 11/02/2017 01:17

Was it in a clear bag? If so, it could be someone trying to repel flies?? (She says, trying to distract you from the spell idea.)

StarryIllusion · 11/02/2017 01:22

Do you have a closer picture of any sections? I've just run those pics through a translator and it comes up with gibberish. All random symbols and slashes and odd letters and numbers. No known language.

StarryIllusion · 11/02/2017 01:24

Agreed MommaGee Grin Maybe it's Enochian
