Yesterday came home to find a bit of folded-up paper wedged in a crack in the fence wall bit (pavement goes right past it). Opened it up to find 2x2p coins inside unrecognisable writing - see pic!

It's not an obvious occult language for spells.

GoodyGoodyGumdrops · 11/02/2017 01:30

It's not Hebrew and it's not Pitman.

Pinbasket · 11/02/2017 01:38

Maybe it's someone with a mental health problem of a psychotic nature- it makes 'sense' to them, but not to others?

Formerpigwrestler9 · 11/02/2017 01:39

to me it looks like the work of someone with schizophrenia or other disorder

I agree, I think it's someone suffering from psychosis/mania/hypomania

FlyMeToTheMoonLiterally · 11/02/2017 01:39

I've never seen writing like that, very strange

ReapAndSow · 11/02/2017 01:52

Do you have a closer picture of any sections? I've just run those pics through a translator and it comes up with gibberish. All random symbols and slashes and odd letters and numbers. No known language.

If you ran my terrible handwriting through a translator it would come up with gibberish too. 😂

I love all the more dramatic suggestions but I suspect the truth is much more boring and that it's just untidy handwriting in a foreign language.

AlmostAJillSandwich · 11/02/2017 02:04

Maybe it's the fairies at the bottom of the garden paying rent?

Tracey300884 · 11/02/2017 02:09

I think it's a wind up

ElderDruid · 11/02/2017 02:20

It's interesting whatever it is. The 2 X 2p's freak me out because they were used in times gone by to weight down eyes & pay the ferry man as someone has said.

I'm thinking maybe a code, a bit like they'd use during WW2.

Twins sometimes make their own language too. But they use standard alphabet.

Clandestino · 11/02/2017 02:20

It's neither any Eastern European language nor cyrillic.Trying to decipher it and I'm good at mirror writing even upside down but no idea.

fuckingwall · 11/02/2017 02:21

You need Giles from Buffy. He'd know.

ElderDruid · 11/02/2017 02:21

It's either infinity symbols at the beginning, crosses to mark 'completed' or 'to do' but it's weird how most sentences fit each line really well.

ShoutOutToMyEx · 11/02/2017 02:38

Yes. I saw this on Law and Order SVU once. I think they called it hypergraphia?

user1477282676 · 11/02/2017 02:40

It looks like a spell to me.

HopelesslydevotedtoGu · 11/02/2017 02:41

Some of the letter look similar to Arabic letters
There is a 'wow' (y) and a type of 'd'
The whole thing doesn't look like Arabic
But I'd imagine it is a less well known language

I'd post it on the Reddit link listed above
There are lots of clever geeky folk there and I'm sure one of them can figure it out

Trifleorbust · 11/02/2017 02:48

Everyone is saying creepy so - just to be on the safe side - I'm not looking at it! Grin

TheEdgeofSeventeen · 11/02/2017 02:59

Its not Elvish or Middle English ( I don't think its germanic in base) x

TheEdgeofSeventeen · 11/02/2017 03:13

I agree and think its Hypergraphia x

LeopardPrintSocks1 · 11/02/2017 03:22

Tigerstar123 · 11/02/2017 04:12

I can't sleep (had a GA today so body all out of synch) and now reading this has freaked me a little bit!

ElderDruid · 11/02/2017 04:15

I would post it on Reddit like PP said & someone should come to your rescue. It's intriguing.

kiwigeekmum · 11/02/2017 04:56

My personal guess is that it should be read "top to bottom" with the red line at the top of the page. So that would narrow it down to Chinese, Korean or Japanese. It looks like quite a messy "handwriting" style so difficult to decipher individual letters. With the Chinese New Year recently that seems like a big coincidence. Do you know anyone who is fluent in Chinese who could take a look at it?

Cornflake15 · 11/02/2017 05:00

Its not chinese, japanese, or korean.

ForAllWeKnow · 11/02/2017 05:05

I love the degree of speculation on mn. I can't believe all the people suggesting mirror writing. Surely it would be obvious if it were English words written backwards!

Perhaps it's a curse... Wink

wundringnow · 11/02/2017 05:17

Its not chinese, japanese, or korean

Agreed! It's 100% not any mainstream east or south East Asian language.
