Landlord and 2 men let themselves in?

Ok, we are moving out shortly 28 Feb I gave them notice as we are buying but I still feel they crossed the line. I have had my suspicions that someone was in the house Monday as things had been moved and things taken down off walls like photos etc but I couldn't prove it was them. Yesterday I was home upstairs minding my own business heard men talking downstairs rang dh to do if it was him and no he was still at work. I was about to ring 999 as I thought it was burglars just as I dailed they cheerful burst through bedroom door. They were as shocked as to see me as I was them but they just carried on walking room the house and told me like a child to go wait in the kitchen until they had finished. What are my rights here? What the fuck do I do now, I know it is only 3 weeks left but surely I have the right to feel save in my own home and right now I just don't.

Bloody hell! I'd have been terrified if three men entered my house. Scary. Hope you're OK.

What a complete tosser. How utterly nasty can someone be? He's pissed off because he's loosing your rent money. Ok, so you've called police, tell them everything that's happened if you haven't already done so - you never know, someone as nasty as this may already be known to them. Change the locks, do not let him back in that house. If you feel unsafe, can you move out any sooner than 28th? Even if it means staying with family/friends? If I was you, get OH (and possibly family and or friend) to stay with you at home tomorrow or ASAP, and get packing, try & pack as much as you can.

If you can ask friends or family if they can 'store' boxes (obviously things you won't be needing) for you, explain your situation, I'm sure they'll help. I say that just in case that twat gets in & takes boxes away. That's why I think if you can organise a move in a day it would be best thing, a mate with a van a few trips, depends where you're going obviously. Definitly get out before the 28th, when your LL least expects it.

How awful for you OP, he sounds mentally unstable! I'd be terrified if someone entered my home without permission, and acted in that manner. I hope the police have taken this seriously.

See this Government leaflet that applies to England:
www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/496709/How_to_Rent_Jan_16.pdf

"Unannounced visits and harassment from your landlord – contact your local authority, or if more urgent dial 999."
