To ask how often you replace your bedlinen

And do your pillowcases wear out faster?

My duvet covers and sheets are all stained with oil from massaging the pregnancy bump (annoying, tho no stretch marks so yay). Want to replace them all and buy extra spare pillowcases - mine always seem to fade quicker or get marks form make up / stain remover. Just curious how often people replace theirs, and how many sets you keep in rotation.

Two sets from when we got married nearly 30 years ago, a couple of sets donated by mother-in-law since then, and three extra lush new sets in the last couple of years bought for us by our children and with Xmas & birthday money. I love them all, but esp. the brushed cotton set. I still have a single duvet set from when duvets first arrived on these shores in the late 70's, and it looks as good as new.

My pillowcases ripped on the sets we got for a wedding so replaced them then after about 10 years of use.
Not happy that pillowcase has ripped on the John Lewis set that is about 2 years old.
Will invest in high thread count for new set I think.

I still have the duvet and bedlinen set I was given for my 18th birthday. However, they are almost never used these days.
Just before Christmas I replaced a set of bedlinen that is wearing out. It is 15 years old and was from John Lewis.
I now have pure linen and it is wonderful.

I am 46. 2 years ago I cried when my duvet set of "pierot clown" which I got for Xmas aged 12 finally got so thin it ripped in the wash. It had been used by me, my daughter, a friends daughter, my daughters friends daughter & I was washing it to give to a neighbour & it ripped. It had matching curtains. I was distraught.
Well loved & washed thousands of times over the 34 years.

my DD has a bed linen set that was mine - My mum bought it when I was about 14, it went off to uni with me, was used by my sister and then DD 1 at uni, now back at home being used by Dfd - so 38 years of regular use.

I have 12 sets. Two are brushed cotton for winter use. One is a Christmas set and one an Autumn set. I have 2 jokey sets that I still use now and again because they're cute (pugs and space cats). The other 6 are sets that go with my bedroom. I do love a new set of bedding so I probably buy about 6 sets a year, then get rid of the oldest ones. I only buy relatively cheap sets (George etc) because I like having lots instead of one or two good ones.

The person who only has one set of bedding - what do you sleep in when you're washing/drying/ironing it?!

I have 4 sets & replace them when they Start to get dull or get stained.

I find pillows get stained quicker so I have spare cheap pillow cases that I use to sleep on & the pillow case that matches the duvet is just for show when the bed is made.

Usually every 3 or 4 years but mine tend to get a bit worn out or they miss a button or popper and I get fed up with it.

I also apparently wear orange foundation that I'm also apparently bad at removing it at night (even though my makeup remover pads appear clear. Hmm) and covers get stained up the top near where my face goes. So even though I wash them regularly I get to the point where I can still see orange staining which gives me rage.
