Just out of curiosity really because she and her voice make me cringe when i hear her on tv or radio.

Love scots though please don't get me wrong.

Dislike her and her blinkered obsession with independence. She is intelligent and articulate but working entirely to her own agenda, and ignoring the day to day stuff which needs to be fixed in Scotland today. Destructive and single minded.

LordPercy · 03/02/2017 16:35

I'm Scottish. I can't stand her, or anything she stands for, actually 👿

UnGoogleable · 03/02/2017 16:35

If you want to be pedantic which clearly you do it would be xenophobia, not racism. I experienced a fair amount of that when I went to uni in England, and there's also a fair amount of it from English politicians in Westminster aimed at Scots, just to even the balance a bit.

Oh that makes it OK then Hmm

I dislike racism, xenophobia or any sentiment that is aimed against a person purely because of where they are from, or what language they speak. I'm Welsh, I live in Wales and I experience it almost daily in both directions (anti Welsh and anti English). It's not OK and it certainly isn't acceptable to hear it spouting from a politician.

BusterTheBulldog · 03/02/2017 16:38

Not Scottish, and don't agree with her re independence, but I think she's an excellent politician. I wish there were more like her.

UnGoogleable · 03/02/2017 16:39

the fact independence is still so firmly on the agenda I don't blame on Nicola Sturgeon or the SNP,

She stated, and correct me if I'm wrong but i think it was actually in her first speech post-referendum, that she would continue to fight for independence. You can't get any clearer than that the fact that she most certainly intended then and now to keep Independence firmly on the agenda.

She is just lucky that the clusterfuck of UK politics has helped her along so well

Seeingadistance · 03/02/2017 16:39

Can't stand her, for pretty much the reasons others have already articulated here. Her single-minded and blinkered dedication to independence at all costs and no matter who it hurts, the manipulation of the media and people's emotions through repeated lies and the perpetuation of myths to keep her fanatics fired up and ready to do her bidding...

A dangerous women who is doing great harm.

WilburIsSomePig · 03/02/2017 16:43

No, I don't. I think she's a wee nyaff and loves to stir the pot.

LunaLoveg00d · 03/02/2017 16:46

If it were a "which Scottish politician would you want a night out on the town with", it would be Ruth Davidson hands down. She would be a hoot. Doesn't take herself too seriously, has had a life outside politics and comes across as warm and interesting. She's also a massive Strictly fan and is very funny if you follow her on Twitter.

Nicola Sturgeon has been in politics forever and eats and breathes SNP. She's even married to another one of them. I would imagine it almost impossible to have a conversation about anything with her which isn't about the SNP. Takes herself WAY too seriously.

helensburgh · 03/02/2017 16:46

I really like her. Her way of speaking can be slightly annoying I find but she is a very very kind person .
She does a lot for charity etc which isn't reported and put sa huge amount of work into helping real.people

OOAOML · 03/02/2017 16:48

Well, yes, the aim of her party is independence. The fact people apart from her are still talking about it so seriously is because of the mess the UK as a whole is lurching towards. The SNP were never going to go 'ok we'll never mention it again', but they've been given a hell of a lot of material to encourage them ever since.

And she was the only leading UK politician that looked like they had a clue what they were doing in the days after the EU vote.

grumpypuss · 03/02/2017 16:49

Not Scottish. I think she is great.

zippey · 03/02/2017 16:54

She is brilliant. It's really hard to follow an inspirational leader like Alex Salmond was but Nicola is her own person and arguably better than Salmond.

FREEEEDOMMM!

cdtaylornats · 03/02/2017 16:58

You spelt it wrong Freedumb

And from what exactly?

Calyx72 · 03/02/2017 16:59

I like her very much. She is honest, resourceful, honourable and passionate about Scotland. I agree with her politics and think she is playing a fantastic long game.

I want Scottish Independence and cannot for the life of me understand people who think even now that we are better in the UK.

cdtaylornats · 03/02/2017 16:59

If you think she is great I suggest you google stories about her constituancy Govanhill

JamieXeed74 · 03/02/2017 17:02

She is very racist though. Has she ever produced a birth certificate? because I am not sure she is even Scottish.

Calyx72 · 03/02/2017 17:03

Someone said she doesn't want what's best for Scotland but what's best for the SNP.

Hahaha! After independence there won't be any need for the SNP. We will vote for whoever we think will run Scotland best. Could be Labour (er, no) or Tories (hmm no) or Lib Dems (haha) or Greens (my choice). If SNP are still going with policies like they have now I may vote for them though as I don't know if Greens have what it takes.

Nicola wants what's best for Scotland.

VivienneWestwoodsKnickers · 03/02/2017 17:04

Don't like her politics.

Haven't met her, so can't cast aspersions on her as a person.

Liked her mum when she was interviewed for Radio 4 during the referendum.

My Dad has an impressive vocabulary to describe his utter contempt for her.

feellikeanalien · 03/02/2017 17:04

I'm Scottish but because I currently live in England I don't have any say in what happens to my native country.

When I sent an e-mail to Nicola Sturgeon's office asking about this I did not even get the courtesy of a reply which I think speaks for itself.

If by some chance she manages to get another referendum and it is successful will I become stateless? (Slightly tongue in cheek but these days who knows!!).

cheeseandcrackers77 · 03/02/2017 17:14

I worked with her years ago and she was a cold person with no interest in speaking with anyone who couldn't advance her career.
All this talk of people in Scotland keep voting her party in therefore they are doing something right. Most yes voters vote SNP regardless of wether they like their policy's. Most No voters vote for the other 3 main parties therefore their votes are split 3 ways. If proportional representation was used in the GE SNP would only have around 24 seats rather than 56.
She has admitted independence transends everything but yet keeps saying education is her number one priority. Well make up your mind.

StatisticallyChallenged · 03/02/2017 17:14

Nicola wants what she thinks is best for Scotland

Not necessarily what is best for Scotland.

Skooba · 03/02/2017 17:15

I doubt I like any politician particularly.

I hate NS's policies. I find them embarrassing.
Boasting about her green credentials on the back of huge wind farms paid for by your energy bills. All those farmers and landowners laughing all the way to the bank.
The Named Person - sadly scots can't care for their own children, we all need to be supervised.
The one police force is going down a storm - not.
Licensing air guns. The amount of extra papework and cost involved in that outweighs the damage done by these guns. And who's going to check that everyone has a licence anyway.
Drink drive, we cannot be trusted to drink ANYTHING and drive.
Free prescriptions - yes, very sensible, let's pour more expensive drugs down the toilet.
More paperwork for shotgun licences - why
Baby boxes Hmm
All this headline grabbing tosh when the actual services are going down the pan. We had a circular not long ago from teh council asking what we felt should be prioritised in the next round of cuts.
They are rubbish imv (whole Scottish Gov, not just NS)

blaeberry · 03/02/2017 17:17

I strongly dislike her and the way the SNP are destroying education/NHS/Scottish economy. She doesn't want 'the best for Scotland', she wants independence from England and as this is a an ideological stance it doesn't matter to her what impact it would have on Scotland. I hate Nationalists be the SNP or any of the European Nationalist parties which are seen more clearly for what they are.

Having been through the trauma of the Scottish referendum - there was some nasty things said on both sides - I suggest that the Scots were more reluctant to vote for Brexit.

Had it not been for the referendum the vote, imv would have been closer or even pro Brexit.
