Just out of curiosity really because she and her voice make me cringe when i hear her on tv or radio.

Love scots though please don't get me wrong.

I dislike Nicola and her quest for independence at any cost. Wouldn't trust her as fas as I could throw her!

forfucksakenet · 03/02/2017 23:00

I know. The spelling thing was low to be fair but it really irks me.

I hate this argument. I cannot understand how anyone would ever pass up the chance to remove ourselves from the disgusting, corrupt monstrosity that is Westminster. My only regret would be the thousands of politically similar English people we would leave behind to continue to be trodden on by the bastards.

forfucksakenet · 03/02/2017 23:01

Independence at any cost.

^ ????

😂😂😂elaborate?

QueenLaBeefah · 03/02/2017 23:03

Holyrood is as completely corrupt Westminster. Politicians of every flavour just can't help themselves. If you think an independent Scotland is a vote for some sort of morally superiority then you are sadly mistaken (and extremely naive).

Calyx72 · 03/02/2017 23:06

Wankers. The published figures (GERS) only show the state Scotland is in while being (sorry, but) raped and pillaged by Westminster. Oil income is under UK income, Scottish exports are under UK income and so on.

They show that we are not doing well.

Independence would have much better figures.

Even if not however, surely any Scot would wish to be governed by Scotland and not a neighbour? The democratic deficit is blinding even to other continents.

I don't think I can change minds on social media and really don't want to be a bore. I am heartened by the voices saying similar to my thoughts and wish us all happiness whatever happens.

WankersHacksandThieves · 03/02/2017 23:08

Because the alternative is to be beholden to an even more remote master with even less interest in Scotland to which we have even less control and power over. I'd rather campaign to fix what we have rather than jump into a economic shitstorm.

I'm a traditional Labour voter who's been left with no-one to vote for, I'm not a Tory. I'm happy to pay more tax, i want to help education and health and social progression etc. I'm not rich, probably on less than average UK income, but I can afford more. I was brought up in poverty, i know what it's like. I find it incredibly frustrating.

NS and her cronies like to talk a good game but actually they are blaming westminster for stuff they could do something about.

being independent in Europe makes no sense whatsoever.

RedVelvetOreos · 03/02/2017 23:09

forfucksakenet we are not being ignorant towards your comments and views so don't be so ignorant towards the opinion of others

forfucksakenet · 03/02/2017 23:10

I am afraid I am neither. If you think it's acceptable just to tacitly condone corruption as if nothing can be done then it is you with the issue.

I am 100% sure that in an independent Scotland we could force the government to be more transparent and more accountable than that old boy's club.

ladylambkin · 03/02/2017 23:10

I like her. I hope Scotland does gain independence in my lifetime

CaraAspen · 03/02/2017 23:12

"forfucksakenet

🙄 expected to take advice on independence from someone who can't even spell it?"

Hahaha. As if.

RedVelvetOreos · 03/02/2017 23:12

Im not condoning anything but i dont think independence is the answer

WankersHacksandThieves · 03/02/2017 23:12

How? At the moment they are less accountable than Westminster.

forfucksakenet · 03/02/2017 23:16

^ on this note I'm off. Never read such complete and utter nonsense. Enjoy.

MistressMolecules · 03/02/2017 23:16

Not a Scot - so not really who you are asking but I thought I would weigh in anyway (Dad was born in Scotland, and if independence is ever achieved then I shall be applying for citizenship - I can live in hope!) and I really like her.

WankersHacksandThieves · 03/02/2017 23:21

night FFS you could have answered the "How?" btw...

forfucksakenet · 03/02/2017 23:35

Well I could but then I'm pretty sure I'd just be accused of being naive again.

Or maybe I'm thick? Perhaps you could enlighten me as to why Westminster is more accountable than Holyrood because from where I'm sitting it seems that the British government have spent years doing whatever they want with zero consequence.
Tony Blair and the Iraq war.
The never ending saga of the non existent completely ineffective child abuse enquiry.
MP expenses
The stomach churning contrast between MP expenses and the fucking bedroom tax.
Our new and improved welfare state which has seen a proliferation of food banks across the U.K.
Renaming the minimum wage a living wage when actually it's a minimum wage...
appointing a man who ran a (successful) campaign based on lie after lie as the foreign secretary.

Please tell me how any of this suggests that Westminster is held accountable?

I would quite literally raise it to the ground and start again. My first choice isn't actually an independent Scotland but a decent lefty Labour UK government.
That will not be allowed to happen in the U.K. but has a much better chance in an independent Scotland.

RedVelvetOreos · 03/02/2017 23:38

I would much rather have a labour government as well but if independence happened I don't think any other party would have a chance because the snp would make sure of it, look of all the things they have done so far it screams anti democracy and it would probably only get worse if they got independence

Bejazzled · 03/02/2017 23:41

forfuck , independence at any cost....
Maybe her quotes in the National has something to do with that perception..

But to the op, I know as a Scottish woman I should admire her, but I find it impossible To do so as she and her party politics are tearing my country apart.

Bejazzled · 03/02/2017 23:42

Oops, meant the National's pal, the Sunday Herald 😊

forfucksakenet · 03/02/2017 23:44

If independence happened then the SNP have essentially served their purpose. I would then vote Green or Labour. I am not unusual in this regard. A lot of people are essentially using the SNP as a vehicle for independence or because Labour are so embarrassingly ineffective in Scotland right now. I personally don't mind them and I admire sturgeon.

What have SNP done that's anti democracy?

forfucksakenet · 03/02/2017 23:46

Not sure what you mean gingham? Planet earth? It's not that hard to compute is it?

user1481838270 · 03/02/2017 23:47

This thread really shows why Scotland needs to leave the UK as soon as possible.

If only London could do the same.

forfucksakenet · 03/02/2017 23:50

I don't see how it's hard to understand that an independent Scotland would be more likely to have a left leaning government than the U.K. would?

Have you never seen voting maps?

AddToBasket · 03/02/2017 23:53

I think she's average. It's testament to how low-rent most of our MSPs are that she's risen to the top.

There are a few top flight politicians in Scotland (Alex Salmond, Ruth Davidson). Nicola Sturgeon relied very very heavily on the patronage of Alex Salmond.
