Incredible thread. The best. Others don't stand a chance. They're just #sad.

birth control pills, if not accessed via planned parenthood, i believe is free.
and yes, the he IUD can be up to $1000, without insurance.
Depo shot is about $100.

So, it ranges.

I'm booked in for my IUD next week.

Woman12345 - you can donate directly to PP. (Immediately after the election, PP was swamped with donations made in Pence's name Grin). Trump is threatening withdrawing government funding, but they have other funding sources including donations (after all, the ACLU got over $20 million in donations over the course of last weekend alone).

stuckinny · 02/02/2017 20:21

I used to pay about $40 a month for a pill. It was a number of years ago so prices may have changed (this was also with insurance). Could only pick up one month at a time which was very frustrating especially when traveling.

I don't think I've ever been so sad living here.

Stuffofawesome · 02/02/2017 20:22

The cardiologist was banned purely from her name that sounded Arabic. She couldn't check in online so they had obviously decided they wouldn't let her on before the airport. It was united Airlines I think. So are the airlines taking immigration decisions ?

M0stlyHet · 02/02/2017 20:23

Over 20,000 donations to PP in Mike Pence's name

GingerIvy · 02/02/2017 20:23

I had a $10 copay on my prescriptions, so I paid $10 per month for bc pills, but that also was just over 10 years ago.

thanks OhMrsQ would be a good link up to send stuff over, if we're not handmaids too. Fortunately I am an old angry handmaid, so will be fighting back.
What is PP? MOstlyHet?
Happy to link up to any campaign for contraception and abortion.

So that Washington Post article ginger suggests that trump needs 'tourists' (sic) as much as bush did, and that would be why he's not completing that mission in Raqqa, and because he has a little man crush on Vladimir.

GingerIvy · 02/02/2017 20:25

Anyone know when the DeVos vote is??

Everytimeref · 02/02/2017 20:26

Trump is in a tweet war with Arnie because he doesnt agree with the viewing figures of the apprentice . Apparently they count differently now!

woman12345 · 02/02/2017 20:26

As well as the women's march, it would be a good international campaign. Useful at least.

BiglyBadgers · 02/02/2017 20:26

Thank you, thank you!

Wow! $1000 for a coil. Surely that is going to be beyond the means of a lot of women. Maybe I need to send a donation to Planned Parenthood if such a thing is possible.

woman12345 · 02/02/2017 20:27

Planned Parenthood, thanks, will contact them and donate.

NY Times sees subscriptions soar - even though Trump thinks they're falling

money.cnn.com/2017/02/02/media/new-york-times-subscribers-trump/index.html?sr=twCNN020217new-york-times-subscribers-trump0817PMVODtopPhoto&linkId=34065025

The paper reported on Thursday that it added 276,000 new digital news subscriptions in the fourth quarter. That is the best quarter for the Times since 2011. On the print side, The Times added 25,000 subscribers, its best number in six years.

The total number of digital and print subscriptions to the Times has now crossed three million.

The additions led Times CEO Mark Thompson to push back against Trump's claims that the paper was losing readers.

"President Trump was once again busy tweeting this weekend that our audiences and our subscribers were, to use his word, 'dwindling,'" Thompson said in an earnings call Thursday. "Well, not so much, Mr. President."

I'd read that after the election result there had been such a significant surge in IUD enquiries as women were worried about access to affordable contraception, so were trying to plan for a method that would see them through the next 4 years.

GingerIvy · 02/02/2017 20:28

No idea on any of them, but I'm sure the press will do any digging that needs to be done. I'd like to think there may be at least one that is good. www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/2017/02/02/white-house-national-security-advisor-announces-nsc-senior-staff-0

Planned Parenthood, woman.

BiglyBadgers · 02/02/2017 20:28

Ah, I see i have failed to read all the posts and you can donate to pp. Right, at least that is something useful I can do Smile

woman12345 · 02/02/2017 20:31

Donated, thanks.

amispartacus · 02/02/2017 20:33

You know how we have a GP and doctor crisis. Looks like rural USA could have the same thing with its ban on countries. Sorry - vetting. Not 'ban'.

money.cnn.com/2017/02/02/news/economy/trump-visa-ban-doctor-shortage/index.html?iid=surge-story-summary

It's great if you are concerned about your jobs. But if you or your family can't get to see a doctor, that is very serious. If you make your country feel unwelcoming to immigrants, then you will face serious issues in your NHS healthcare system.

The guy I'm working with today has told us he had a friend who had an abortion.
He liked to remind her of it.
'Hey, if you hadn't had an abortion your kid would be starting kindergarten this year' etc.
He can't work out why they are no longer friends.
