It's been done before, Ginger. 'Man of the People' stuff.

Lweji · 03/02/2017 18:55

Mike Pence is attending Sunday's Super Bowl in Houston

That's brave, although it's Houston.
I wonder if any NASA people will be there.
Who's singing?

Scary - but good to read.

What Melania, Ivanka, Ivana, Marla tell us about the role of women in Trump's world bit.ly/2kgJPOp

cozietoesie · 03/02/2017 18:56

I think he'll get away with it, Lweji. Probably take his wife and all.

cozietoesie · 03/02/2017 18:57

Ah Yes. I read that last night.

Deejoda · 03/02/2017 18:59

Across I fervently hope the rest of the world does something to stop Trump. Anything to stop the mad man

M0stlyHet · 03/02/2017 19:03

Remember the poster on the last thread who blamed the last 8 years' recession on Obama ? I pointed out that we'd had an 8 year recession here too, and outside London, salaries in real terms were still not back to where they'd been in 2008, and that the problem was not Obama, it was a global recession caused by poor regulation in the banking sector.

Well, guess which set of regulations Trump is going to tear up next?

SouthernNorthernGirl · 03/02/2017 19:04

Best place mark ever. Better than the last one. Ask anyone

Roussette · 03/02/2017 19:05

haha Lweji, didn't pick that up... yes!! Pathetic to be making that point in an email to one of his constituents, really pathetic.

Acrossthepond I admire your post... to be so prepared to take the hit but wanting to stop the fat orange one is something else.

I know we don't agree with the main players' views so that accounts for our feelings about them... but the likes of Patriot Barbie, Spicer, Pence et al are all so revolting. Forgetting the political leanings, they just come across as not very nice people.

cozietoesie · 03/02/2017 19:05

I can't help a sneaking feeling that women - even his own 'womenfolk' - are going to be his undoing.

M0stlyHet · 03/02/2017 19:09

woman - Snopes has a summary of the Gorsuch "fascist club" rumours - they are false.

New York Post article (NB, NYP should be distinguised from the New York Times - the Post is a tabloid with a not entirely shiny reputation.)

I have to say, some of the things listed in that article re the women in his life are appalling. Vile man.

woman12345 · 03/02/2017 19:14

M0stlyHet cheers for that, I'll look at fro NYP, and avoid. thanks

M0stlyHet · 03/02/2017 19:18

Re. fact checking - I'm inclined to think that the BBC, Guardian, Telegraph, Times, Independent (and its various offshoots), Washington Post, New York Times, CNN, most major US news networks with the obvious exception of Fox can probably be trusted.

Other sources should be taken with a pinch of salt. Including some which appear to be on the side of the Angels (Rogue Staffer, or whatever it's called, for instance) but may possibly be Trump supporters deliberately leaking false flag "liberal click bait" stories, so they can say "well, look, everyone has alt facts..." (Yes, I do think they are that Machiavellian).

cozietoesie · 03/02/2017 19:19

Among the rules for emperors are:

'Don't diss your Praetorian .Guard'; and

' Watch your heir'.

Add to those an extra one for presidents:

'Don't diss Motherhood and Apple Pie'.

I think that EP Is batting zero for two - or zero for threeWink- on those.

woman12345 · 03/02/2017 19:24

It's a funny old business this fake news. Must remember to engage noggin and remember, this olden days when there were moral compasses and powers of discrimination.

woman12345 · 03/02/2017 19:24

GingerIvy · 03/02/2017 19:29

Apparently so.

Destinysdaughter · 03/02/2017 19:34

Just watching C4 news, they mentioned the BowlingGreenMassacre and that it didn't happen. They passed it off as a joke. It's NOT A FUCKING JOKE that we are being lied to every bloody day by the most powerful administration in the world!

It matters.

M0stlyHet · 03/02/2017 19:37

(Adds channel 4 to the shit list of news sources I no longer trust....)

BTW, woman, I learned this stuff the hard way - I got totally taken in by the "Incirluk airbase under siege" story in the aftermath of the failed coup in Turkey last summer - turned out to have been completely fabricated by Russia Today (who of course would love to see a pressure group in the west to pull NATO missiles out of Turkey).
