AIBU to think that people who don't have young children who park in parent and child spaces are selfish?

I was reading an article on the Daily Fail about a young couple with a baby who were left a note saying that parent and child spaces are for people with children (they were with their baby) but what annoyed me were people commenting under the article who were saying that they always park in parent and child even if there are other spaces available as they feel parents are entitled to too many things and why should they be inconvenienced by people having children. Is it me or is this totally selfish as the reason why those spaces are they are for the safety of the children, more space so other car doors aren't dented and closer to the store so it is generally safer for children and less likely for a child to be hit by a car. AIBU to think these people are selfish?

Flowers AlmostAJill. I do hope you are getting help and well done for getting it down from four hours.

Funnyonion17 · 03/02/2017 14:24

No it's not, a quick Google shows statistics for blue badge fraud and many stories of it! Why are you swearing and getting angry? Get a grip of yourself! If you can't have an adult discussion don't bother at all. You can't throw about statistics which represent only those that are on DLA etc. Blue badge fraud can be commited in many ways. A person can apply for a badge on behalf of someone who is genuinely disabled, then use the badge themselves fraudulently to park wherever. Hence why your statistics aren't an accurate representation as they don't include such instances.

Dawndonnaagain · 03/02/2017 14:25

I have told you why I'm getting angry, it's often extremely hard to remain reasonable in the fact of idiocy.

Funnyonion17 · 03/02/2017 14:26

Piglet yes I did thankyou. As I said earlier if you read the thread properly.

Funnyonion17 · 03/02/2017 14:27

Actually Dawn. It's an act of idiocy to get so angry, use bad language and very high rate in the face of disagreement. People can still disagree and have an adult discussion Hmm

PurpleDaisies · 03/02/2017 14:28

funny you're just embarrassing yourself now. I'd suggest you stop.

dawndonna is a well respected and thoughtful poster who knows what she's taking about regarding disability. She has all the grip she needs. If you ask her nicely she might give you one.

Dawndonnaagain · 03/02/2017 14:28

I'm having an adult discussion, if you have a problem with swearing then go elsewhere. The fact is though, you're being an obfuscatory twit and it's pissing me off.

Mol1628 · 03/02/2017 14:33

Agree they should be at the bottom of the car park to stop lazy people parking in them just to nip into the shops.

So long as there's a safe path to walk on to the shop.

Funnyonion17 · 03/02/2017 14:38

No I wouldn't begrudge you the parenting space at all, but at the same time I like to think it's common sense that nobody begrudges parents of these spaces. At least not parents who genuinely need them.

PurpleDaisies · 03/02/2017 14:41

I think it's out of order someone with mobility issues thinks they have a right to these spaces tbh

Both you funny. How do you reconcile the first statement with the second?

Funnyonion17 · 03/02/2017 14:41

Purple & Dawn grow up and please just stop going on. It's flipping boring. I don't give two hoots who's well respected etc, I respect those who respect me. I'm not a sheep! This is all getting tedious.

Funnyonion17 · 03/02/2017 14:44

There you go again Purple! The poster I replied to doesn't have a flipping blue badge for God sake, it's clear she's struggling with something very limiting so yea I don't disagree with her parking in a parent bay.

PurpleDaisies · 03/02/2017 14:44

Get a fucking grip. I was talking about someone I know personally to be commuting fraud.

Again, both you funny (I presume you mean "irate" rather than "high rate").

How about not holding other posters to standards to aren't able to meet yourself?

PurpleDaisies · 03/02/2017 14:45

And people with mobility issues can't be struggling with something very limiting,

I've read the thread as it's been going along and I have very good memory. It's not on to berate posters for swearing and getting angry when you've done it yourself on this very thread.

CherryChasingDotMuncher · 03/02/2017 14:50

DOnt you just love it when someone is rightly torn a new one then goes all "God you're all SO boring, don't you have lives to live rather than bother poor little able bodied me?".

I'm just waiting for the "you're supposed to be MOTHERS, your poor children" line Grin

I can't even be bothered replying to so much stupid especially when someone asks me what statistics would exactly prove Confused

Funnyonion17 · 03/02/2017 15:00

Torn a new one...classy! Funny that as i feel cool as a cucumber and not bother at all. If people disagree with me, well then they do. I won't lose sleep over it, part and parcel of life :)

Dawndonnaagain · 03/02/2017 15:06

Yep, that's me. High rate. Highly rated most places in fact.

Funnyonion17 · 03/02/2017 15:08

Yawn, Dawn.

CherryChasingDotMuncher · 03/02/2017 15:09

Dawn, you're high rate and I'm unclassy. Crying into my pillow over that one, I so want to be a classy bird 😂😂

Funny honestly you're embarrassing yourself and comes across as very unhinged, I think it's in your best interest to stop

ExConstance · 03/02/2017 15:10

I always park as far away as I can from the supermarket where the car park is empty, otherwise you run the risk of your car being damaged. The really unreasonable people are those who think a supermarket is a suitable place for young children and babies.

Funnyonion17 · 03/02/2017 15:10

Lmao cherry

Yeah and your portraying yourself brilliantly

CherryChasingDotMuncher · 03/02/2017 15:12

The really unreasonable people are those who think a supermarket is a suitable place for young children and babies

I'm not sure what supermarkets you go to, are they filming pornos or something? Round these parts it's really just people shopping. What exactly makes in unsuitable for children? And what do you suggest I do with my breastfed newborn and my toddler while I shop?

Dawndonnaagain · 03/02/2017 15:13

Funny
In the fact of such derision one would expect someone to back off.
Equally, when you've had disability hate crime and government statistics used to validate a point, one would expect either an apology or at least a reasoned argument. You don't seem to want either of these.
I've actually reported this thread because you're just being really rather silly and not engaging in the discussion in any way that could be described as adequate. You seem to have taken a dislike to me and the thread is not about me. I have no idea what I have done to offend other than to provide you with the statistics that you were unable/unwilling to find. I'm sorry if you felt this undermined you but the points you put forward undermined the many folk in this country and on these boards with disabilities, ergo it was important to ensure that facts rather than sensationalist statements were seen.
