To live most of my life in my own head

Today, in between playing with the toddler and doing all the boring house shit that comes with being a SAHP, I've spent maybe 80% of my time fantasising about a life in which I'm kidnapped by a hot 19th century highwayman. Turns out I'm an amazing sword fighter even in a corset and flowing dress.

Does anyone else make up these complex imaginary scenarios or am I going insane?! AIBU to spend most of my time in my own daydreams and not care?

OP posts:
TheCustomaryMethod · 01/02/2017 18:53

Yep, another one here. I'm never bored in queues or waiting rooms or dull meetings because I just slip off somewhere else in my head.

I like the sound of your highwayman, OP Wink

Deadnettle · 01/02/2017 18:53

Same here. I'm an introvert too, and yes BigbyWolf I love reading. In fact I think I spend most my time reading or daydreaming and not much else.

piefacerecords · 01/02/2017 18:54

Hmm Highwaymen.....

Anyway, I know somebody Blush who brightens up cleaning day by reinacting a scene where she walks into the O2 where a concert has just started with a certain gawjus lead singer on stage. He sees me her right across the auditorium and stares into her eyes for the rest of he song. Then he puts down his mike, jumps down from the stage, and makes his way over (whilst burly minders clear the way). Then he snogs my her face off, takes my her hand and leads me away for a rampant shagathon.

Meanwhile the rest of the band have to do instrumentals for the rest of the gig.

Mia1415 · 01/02/2017 18:54

This is absolutely me! & yes I'm an introvert.

TheCustomaryMethod · 01/02/2017 18:55

Bigby Funnily enough, I am indeed a compulsive reader Grin

sonlypuppyfat · 01/02/2017 18:56

I'm going out with Gerard Butler but Matthew macfadyen is wildly in love with me and wants me for his own but he's far too shy to talk to me

ShimmeringIce · 01/02/2017 18:56

I'm an introvert with no imagination... I feel like I'm missing out 😫

ShelaghTurner · 01/02/2017 18:56

Yes love reading too! And writing.

Susan my Call the Midwife tumblr is also full of people who love Miss Fisher. I never got into it - tbh I don't need another obsession! - but loads have. There's some good fic there too I think.

RiversrunWoodville · 01/02/2017 18:58

This is me all over! I have in fact created several happy lives for myself where Edward IV did not die young or if he did the battle of Bosworth went in favour of Richard not Henry Tudor. (I am rather handy with a sword too Lion Wink) Also an introvert and a reader also with a boisterous and at times bemused almost 2 year old Blush

TheProblemOfSusan · 01/02/2017 18:58

Shelagh only thing is I can't read the fic till I'm caught up, too much spoiler danger. But I have plenty of standby daydreams.

BigbyWolf · 01/02/2017 18:58

Ah, lots of dreamy readers. I've found my people! Grin

XiCi · 01/02/2017 19:00

Glad it's not just me. Have been like this since a child. Am a definite extrovert though, although also a compulsive reader!!

ShelaghTurner · 01/02/2017 19:01

You haven't finished it yet? Ah that's such a nice place to be. It's brilliant seeing things for the first time.

makeitstop24 · 01/02/2017 19:03

You're awesome! Don't ever change.

Most people lose their inner child, wish more people had your imagination

The80sweregreat · 01/02/2017 19:05

I am a famous 'sit down' comedian! ( because im old )
I get to meet Alan Carr and Frank skinner, then on the one show and very rich! Its a great celeb life, but the twitter trolls are hateful to me, so its not without its problems and heartache. The pile in the country helps ( and my new horse) and a grandad annexe for my elderly dad!
On the up side, it means i can give more to charity and help in the society.
(Despite the poss death threats for terrible jokes and puns. )
Its all good. My own life is not this : ( lol

TheCustomaryMethod · 01/02/2017 19:06

I'm an introvert. I'm very boring to everyone but myself!

Serialweightwatcher · 01/02/2017 19:09

I've never had a good imagination in that way at all, even as a child - I'm not an introvert but I do love to read - psychological thrillers ... probably a good idea I'm not the daydreaming type Grin

TheSultanofPingu · 01/02/2017 19:15

I do this too, also an introvert who loves reading.

I like to accidently go through a time loop (always backwards, never forwards). The people are always fascinated by me, and are amazed by the gadgets and things in my handbag, and my clothes.

Emmageddon · 01/02/2017 19:16

Have any of you read Paracosm: Bleath: The Hauntings?
A paracosm is a detailed imaginary world created inside one's mind and the book, one of a series, is fascinating and terrifying in equal measure.

IlsaLund · 01/02/2017 19:18

I do this - I've most recently been living a life where I have been doing some kind of amazing humanitarian work abroad. For some spurious reason I end up being evacuated on a luxury liner. The young hot gorgeous captain has fallen for me - but of course as a dedicated charity worker I am going to leave him and break his heart when the liner docks in Casablanca and I leave.

flupi · 01/02/2017 19:19

I just want to say I love this thread. I love being awake in bed at night as it's the best time for me to go into my daydream world.

minesapintofwine · 01/02/2017 19:20

This is definitely me! My life would be so boring if it were not for my other lives e.g., platinum selling singer, beautiful mysterious girl, secret agent etc

FannyWisdom · 01/02/2017 19:23

As you will all know James is in France scouting out a new love nest for us.
When I saw the advert and told this to DS he just Hmm
I even involve my pets.

onceandneveragain · 01/02/2017 19:24

Just jumping in to say how happy I am I've found other weirdos that do this!

Made the mistake of mentioning it to my family once and got Confused
looks back. Asked them what they thought about all day if they weren't daydreaming.
DSis: Um, dunno. What I'm going to have for tea? Grin

teawamutu · 01/02/2017 19:24

Me? No, course not.
