I'm not a prude but really?

To think this window display is inappropriate?
OP posts:

It's a publicity stunt. You're doing a great job publicising them OP! Are you being paid for it?

blueskyinmarch · 01/02/2017 14:43

I found it quite amusing. Most kids will have no idea what it means. They will just see a big ice cream - which you are meant to lick.

CockacidalManiac · 01/02/2017 14:43

It makes me want an ice cream

MammaTJ · 01/02/2017 14:43

I'm not a prude

Yes, you are.

Treaclex · 01/02/2017 14:44

Oh Jellybean do you want an ice cream Grin

NomDePlumeReloaded · 01/02/2017 14:46

It's deeply naff and more suited to Ann Summers' window than a shop selling overpriced notebooks but I agree, kids won't get it.

museumum · 01/02/2017 14:46

It doesn't just say "lick me" it says "lick me until ice scream" (I scream).
I think it's a bit much myself.

piefacerecords · 01/02/2017 14:46

Made me snigger actually - and anyway it would go right over the heads of anybody young enough for it to be 'inappropriate'.

So YABU

No 7 year old is going to ask you to explain - they'll just think it's a pun - stop being a drama queen! Or alternatively, if they do ask, tell them, in age appropriate language - if Brits stopped being so uptight about sex -then it would be a much better place in so many ways Smile

Soubriquet · 01/02/2017 14:46

God what is it with people and paperchase now days?

They are trying to reach new public and being thwarted for being too dirty

It's easily explained

It's an ice cream, you lick the ice cream. Done!

You scream with pleasure because you enjoy the ice cream if your child asks what about the screaming

ghostwatch · 01/02/2017 14:51

I think it's creepy in a paper chase window. Not necessary. YANBU

SemiNormal · 01/02/2017 14:52

I suggest you don't send your offspring to school then because I can promise they will hear far worse things than this.

YouMeanYouForgotCranberriesToo · 01/02/2017 14:53

Haha I'm so lame, been sitting for a minute trying to work out WTF 'lick me until ice cream' was supposed to mean. Get it now.

Me too Blush

livefornaps · 01/02/2017 14:54

What @cao said. So many adverts blatently sexist especially noone says owt. If anything I think the underlying suggestion that women should be receiving pleasure this valentine's is a good'un...!

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 01/02/2017 14:55

I think it's inappropriate too considering that half of their menchardise is aimed at kids.

Northernmum100 · 01/02/2017 14:55

I didn't get it at first but do nowBlush

Similar blush worthy advertising..... An advert which ran on my local radio station just before Christmas was for a jewellers closing down sale and to cut a long story short was a conversation between two friends and one of them advising the other to give his girlfriend a lovely pearl necklace for Christmas. It ended with 'well Sarah will be getting a lovely surprise on Christmas morning...'

Foldedtshirt · 01/02/2017 14:55

It's a clever enough pun that it would go over childrens' heads.

Jooni · 01/02/2017 14:59

Yes naps!

Yeah I'd explain that you have to lick ice creams else they melt lol.

MySordidCakeSecret · 01/02/2017 15:01

I think it's crude personally.

MycatsaPirate · 01/02/2017 15:02

If your 7 year old reads something into this other than ice cream is meant to be licked then I'd worry about what else your 7 year old is being exposed to. Do you allow him/her to watch things unsuitable for their age? Sounds pretty worrying if your dc is reading sexual connotations in that sign.

This would go right over the head of my 11 year old.

ToffeeForEveryone · 01/02/2017 15:02

There was a thread on here about Paperchase the other day, they had a range of rather questionable Valentines cards this year too that they've had to withdraw (said things like "Nothing says I love you like anal" and "I love your big cock").

Window display looks like it's in the same style, aiming for innuendo / funny but failing - not suitable for a shop that caters to kids.

YouHadMeAtCake · 01/02/2017 15:04

You clearly are a prude OP Grin

MrDacresEUSubsidy · 01/02/2017 15:05

I think Paperchase is trying to compete with Scribbler, which has been very successful as a result of its adult-themed products.

liquidrevolution · 01/02/2017 15:08

I am more than a bit Hmm at the poster as well so clearly I am another prude.

However, I feel the window display of Ann Summers shops are more inappropriate. Now they really give me the rage Angry.
