To think dogs should stay on leads if in a child's play park

would it be u of me to phone the local council and ask if a sign be put up for dogs to be kept on their leads in my local play park? There is a spacious field on the other side of the gate but people still let their dogs run around where there are children playing. I think this is wrong and I'm sick of my dd being too scared to go to the park because of the dogs!

Yeah that is strange ltb
No music at all?

FearTheLiving · 27/01/2017 18:24

I went to school with a girl who didn't understand why people listened to music.

LTBforGin · 27/01/2017 21:07

No none at all.
I listen to music loud in the car singing and I have pets. We obviously get on 😐

kali110 · 27/01/2017 21:13

wow this escalated.
fear some of your comments are vile, don't understand how you can't see that.

kali110 · 27/01/2017 21:14

navy it's a shame as i don't think the op is a dog hater yet this thread has certainly got them here...
The op actually has valid points.

Vile? Really? You must be so delicate. Poor flower.

JigglyTuff · 27/01/2017 21:24

I don't think it's a children's playground at all becuase I've never ever come across one that doesn't ban dogs. I bet it's just a bog standard park. And dogs can be off the lead in parks.

But this is a great bit of trolling by the OP

FearTheLiving · 27/01/2017 21:28

Even if it's an open park, it's still common sense to keep the dogs away from where the kids are playing. My dog is a malamute and looks pretty terrifying to a small child.

yolofish · 27/01/2017 21:43

I'm confused by all these dogs that piss on people's stuff tbh. owner of 11 year old lab here, and he would NEVER do that. he might like to snaffle your picnic, given half a chance, but then he's not given the chance...

Love51 · 27/01/2017 21:49

Loads of places have swings and slides and climbing frames not in a fenced off area. In my council area, there are 'no dogs' signs for owners to ignore. Near my parents' they don't even have that. It is astounding. A man let his dog run off and approach (as in touch) a child on a toddler swing who became distressed, dog then came to the equipment my child was on, my child asked me to carry him as the dog was clearly out of control, and when my dad asked the owner to leash him said he was walking over there (big patch of grass) and the dog ran off.
Which it did. And the guy made no attempt to call it back.
So, fences round play areas would be great. Wouldn't stop the tosser who her dog on an extendable lead put it's head in my childs buggy, so perhaps new laws requiring dog owners to behave responsibly. 3 strikes and no longer allowed to own a dog. Given people would have to be able to identify you, that's generous!

Love51 · 27/01/2017 21:54

jiggly I think the no fences is a council wide policy. So no fences where I pay council tax, but the next place over, where I work and visit the in laws, fences round every play area. Much nicer imho. Perhaps you live in an area with a sensible council, like my in laws, so see fences as universal. Sadly they are not.
We visit the seaside and say 'isnt it lovely, a fence round the play area! This could catch on!'

JigglyTuff · 27/01/2017 22:12

Who knows? The OP has posted and run

Who is this Deirdre woman? All her posts have been deleted. They must have been interesting

beanfilledfish · 27/01/2017 22:18

It's just common courtesy to keep dogs on leads near small kids.

Anyone who argues against that just shouldn't.

FearTheLiving · 27/01/2017 22:20

doris just some loon that said that dogs only belong in soup.

DorisMcSweeney · 27/01/2017 22:22

Is dog soup a thing?

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 27/01/2017 22:23

A barking loon.

DorisMcSweeney · 27/01/2017 22:25

Do some people eat dogs then? That doesn't sound nice

FearTheLiving · 27/01/2017 22:25

Some parts of Asia I believe.

DorisMcSweeney · 27/01/2017 22:32

Do they have problems in these parts of Asia with dogs in children's playgrounds?

kali110 · 27/01/2017 22:45

Yes i am fear and your comments are so defensive.

kali110 · 27/01/2017 22:46

Oh look seems i'm not the only one who found your comment offensive(judging by this thread) Hmm

CherryChasingDotMuncher · 27/01/2017 23:19

Not liking all animals for no reason to the point of contempt and wishing bad things on them feels very sinister to me

Since when was the definition of "dislike" = "wishes harm on" Hmm I dislike most dogs, as they make me very nervous, I certainly don't wish harm to them. I just want them to stay away from me.

Very bizarre reasoning about what makes a person 'sinister'.

CherryChasingDotMuncher · 27/01/2017 23:22

On another note I once worked with someone who didn't like food. Any food! He ate it to survive obviously but usually had ham sandwich and chips as it was the lesser of many evils apparently. Still can't get my head around that one
