Inspired by the other thread ....

Who is brave enough to take the challenge? Who dishes out crisps and penguins?

No judging just out of interest to see what the DC if mners really eat!

Obviously too late today for most, but tomorrow?

Camomila my dp's work lunchbox is also very similar. Today has a chicken sandwich, Wotsits, a tunnocks caramel bar, an apple and a bag of mixed nuts that he keeps in his desk to graze on. He is stick thin and eats bigger portions than I do at home. I am very jealous

FeliciaJollygoodfellow · 26/01/2017 10:04

MrsKoala - with you on that! Mine have a sugar heavy lunch quite often but they don't have any sugar throughout the day. All slim and healthy.

There's a lot to be said for peer pressure as well. I don't want to make things harder for my boys, they've only recently moved to this school.

SpongebobRoundPants · 26/01/2017 10:05

Fizz I thought that was a can of lager at quick glance Grin

MsGameandWatch · 26/01/2017 10:05

No photo as already gone but:-

Half a wholemeal bread cheese sandwich.
1 Apple
Mixed salad of celery, lettuce, cucumber, cress and green pepper
1 muffin/slice of cake/cookie

And it's been the same exact lunch for the last five years Smile

itsallbollocks · 26/01/2017 10:05

I have no pic, but I always go under the guide to include:

A carbohydrate.
A fruit.
A vegetable.
A protein.
A treat.

Ds is 9, and is only allowed water at school. We are not allowed to include chocolate or nuts in the packed lunch.

Today he has:

Ham and cucumber sandwich (Protein/carbohydrate/salad vegetable)

Raisins.

Home made Welsh cakes.

Packet of hula hoops.

alltouchedout · 26/01/2017 10:05

DS2 took cheese sandwiches (best of both bread), grapes, squash and a chocolate chip cake bar.
Can't be bothered to feel shamed. I've tried sending uber healthy, no sugar no fat lunches, they just come back uneaten and with him in a terrible, hungry strop.

FeliciaJollygoodfellow · 26/01/2017 10:05

Fenella - would you mind sharing your recipe for rice pudding? Mine love those muller rice things but I'd rather make it myself to cut down on the sugar content. If I make it milky enough they'll love it.

Mrsemcgregor · 26/01/2017 10:05

No pic as he is at school already!

DS age 7 -

Cheese sandwich on white bread (he will eat half, always)
Raw carrot
2 rich tea biscuits
Banana (for snack but sometimes he saves it for lunch)
Carton of fresh orange or apple (can't remember what he took today)

ragdoll700 · 26/01/2017 10:05

Oh and no junk ie crisps or chocolate allowed at all ever they get food dude stickers for bringing healthy stuff and if there is a real drive on with healthy food at a push I can get her to bring slices of pepper or sticks of carrot she wont eat much of the carrot though just enough to get the sticker :)

FizzBombBathTime · 26/01/2017 10:06

spongebob how dare you I'm a classy lady! It's a ready made can of archers and lemonade Wink

jagua · 26/01/2017 10:06

DD 3 has an early lunch at school nursery before pickup at 12 of:
50/50 wrap with ham or cheese
Cucumber slices
Grapes (must be sliced) or a satsuma

When she comes home she has lunch number 2 of toast and peanut butter (no nuts allowed at school!)

Or if I'm dragging her shopping she gets a croissant and a smoothie

FeliciaJollygoodfellow · 26/01/2017 10:07

Mine are only allowed water but DH sends them with squash Confused. I have pointed out many times that it's partly to do with spills and not just the 'unhealthy' aspect but as far as I know he still sends them in with it!

The daft thing is, is that all three boys are more than happy with water!

FizzBombBathTime · 26/01/2017 10:07

This thread is making me HUNGRY!!!

hoddtastic · 26/01/2017 10:08

dd2 (8) has had a wrap with cream cheese and cucumber, a tub about half the size of a tin of beans with melon, pineapple and grapes in, a bottle of water, a mini flapjack bite thingum and a satsuma. She's got a mini bag of rice cakes with choc and coconut on them- she has tennis after school so this will be eaten over the day in some order, including a snack at first break.
rule is 'a sandwich', fruit x 2, a pudding (literally sometimes a hobnob or a garibaldi or some nuts or a jelly pot or a yoghurt tube thing) something in a packet (cheese chunks, satay chicken, popcorn, rice cake things like today)
she takes crisps on a friday. If we give her the same thing she refuses it... if we find that she's not eating 'the good stuff' we take 'the shit out' ie the thing in a bag...

ifonly4 · 26/01/2017 10:08

DD is 13: Today's lunchbox contains:

2 biscuits
Pitta bread
Babybel
Grapes
Cucumber sticks
Water

Most of the time she has sandwiches, maybe coucous sometimes. Other variations are banana, tangerine, cereal bar, protein bar, pepper/cucumber/tomato pot. She has crisps or maybe a chocolate bar snack approx once a week.

I work in a school and some lunchboxes are appalling - no sandwiches/rice/pasta/coucous, fruit or veggie, just things like cheese straws, sausage rolls, mini packet of biscuits, packet crisps, penguin bar everyday.

NeverEverAnythingEver · 26/01/2017 10:09

FenellaMaxwell So lovely of you to do this for neighbour's son! Best of luck with new baby!

We have very healthy, bordering on poncy, packed lunches. Wink

CherrySkull · 26/01/2017 10:10

no pictures.

Ds 10 (autistic so eating issues, this NEVER changes, ever)
2 slices of fruited bread
10 sour cream & chive pringles crisps
3 choc chip cookies

DD 7 (not autistic, but has food issues from growing up with brother)
2 strawberry jam sandwiches
1 pack of walkers french fries (plain)
2 biscuits
1 yogurt

DD's will sometimes vary, depends on her mood.

DH has
2 rounds of sandwiches (ham & cheese or Chicken & mayo)
1 bag of crisps
1 apple
1 chocolate bar.

i'm a SAHM so my lunch is either fresh salmon with salad, veg soup with toast or philly on crackers with some fruit.

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 26/01/2017 10:11

Ds2 (14) has pretty much the same lunch every bloody day.....

Honey sandwiches
Frube
Raisins (used to be tinned peaches but he stopped eating them)
Either rocky bar or dark choccie 2 finger KitKat.
Water

Ds2 thankfully prefers school lunches,

HardToDeal · 26/01/2017 10:13

DD is 3.

Ham sandwich
Banana
Mini box raisins - these three every day pretty much

Then something like a cheese string or Babybel, little tub of cheese crackers, or if I'm feeling generous, a packet of crisps or a chocolate biscuit bar. On those days she comes home like she's won the lottery. Once I gave her a little tub of Pringles and I think caused a nursery commotion.

RabbitSaysWoof · 26/01/2017 10:13

Ds has school dinners most days, one day a week he has a packed lunch he always has;
Brown sandwich thin with over processed teddy ham
Salad pot (beetroot, tomato, sweetcorn) with little salad cream pot
either satsuma or grapes
either cheese or frube
some kind of treat like a jammy dodger, a chocolate coin, or a hand of nachos in a pot.
I think that pretty much matches the school dinners, they would always get at least one veg portion, plus an orange and a treat after.

FlouncingInAWinterWonderland · 26/01/2017 10:14

FizzBombBathTime doesn't the orange flavour of the chocolate clash with the peach of the schnapps? I'd suggest a palate cleanser is needed.

vvviola · 26/01/2017 10:14

We're asked not to send frubes or popcorn because of the mess they can cause. Plus the usual no fizzy drinks/chocolate. All drinks also have to be in a resealable container.

DD1 has ham or cheese sandwich on brown bread, a mini pack of fruit biscuits and an apple or some grapes (sometimes chopped melon when I'm feeling organised). Sometimes a baby bel if I have remembered to buy them.

DD2 is allergic to dairy and egg and doesn't like most sandwiches. She gets plain bread and butter (sometimes with a little pot of ham or chicken beside it, which she will happily eat outside the sandwich, but not in it Hmm), chopped oranges or grapes, and a mini pack of biscuits. This mini biscuit pack must be identical to the one in her sister's lunch box, or there is drama.

I also pack them a snack for the childminder - piece of fruit and a couple of biscuits. If I know they'll be having the snack at the minders house (as opposed to at the playground or on the way to an activity) and I'm organised, they will sometimes get hummous and breadsticks instead of the biscuits.

dinkystinky · 26/01/2017 10:15

Today

DS1 (10) - bagel with pesto and fake chicken slice (he's gone vegetarian for the month), savoury crackers, grapes, satsuma, water

DS2 (8) - bagel with cream cheese and cucumber, savoury crackers, grapes, satsuma, water

They occasionally get a cake bar or fruit winder but normally its two pieces of fruit with some kind of sandwich or hot main

CwtchMawr · 26/01/2017 10:15

No pics but my 5 year olds lunch today was:
Turkey, lettuce and mayo in a wrap
Raspberries
Apple slices
Cucumber
Frube yoghurt
and some pringles
Every day is pretty similar, I did buy a flask so she could take warm soup and pasta. She was not amused at all and doesn't want warm food apparently!

Dagnabit · 26/01/2017 10:16

No photo but dd (7) has:

White bread sandwich with cheese or peanut butter (she is allowed jam once a week) or a pasta salad
Small chocolate biscuit like a Penguin or a piece of brioche
Fruit and/or cucumber and pepper
Bag of crisps or mini cheddars
Water
