Inspired by the other thread ....

Who is brave enough to take the challenge? Who dishes out crisps and penguins?

No judging just out of interest to see what the DC if mners really eat!

Obviously too late today for most, but tomorrow?

14 year old DS is given £15 per week to buy his packed lunch, this is what I was paying for school meals that he hated. In the beginning he'd buy a weeks worth of stuff and put it together each day, now he just pops into the co op on the way a buys a meal deal, saves the snacks and has them as a main therefore making a profit on the way. Apparently yesterday he had a cheese and ham sandwich and admitted to a DrPepper. I should probably prepare something for him, but I Cba, he's 14 he'll chuck anything he doesn't like and he's learning to budget/take responsibility etc. More importantly as I said I can't be arsed.

BrieAndChilli · 26/01/2017 09:47

My 6,8 and 10 year olds had

1/2 tuna mayo and cucumber sandwich on wholemeal bread
Chicken leg
Homemade flapjack
Blueberries and grapes
Frube
Water

user1483945709 · 26/01/2017 09:48

Today my ds aged 13 has

Croissant
Melon pieces
Cheese
Orange drink

Snack for break time
Mini cheddars
Bottle of water

LostSight · 26/01/2017 09:48

My children are 17 and 12. I have no idea what they took because they made their own.

FlouncingInAWinterWonderland · 26/01/2017 09:51

Pic as requested of DS2's offering. Ham surprise, digestive, fruit string. He only eats the ham surprise-slightly under duress, hes got football to play.

Losgunna · 26/01/2017 09:51

My ds is three so doesn't have packed lunches for school, but has the same thing except every day so if we're out it's a packed lunch.

Cheese/ham sandwich on wholemeal or crackers and cheese
Little box of raisins
Apple slices/banana /berries /grapes
Wotsits or quavers and sometimes a little cake or biscuit
Water or orange juice or milk to drink

SeriousCreativeBlock · 26/01/2017 09:51

2 pieces of ham
Piece of cheese/cheese triangle
Crackers with butter
Yoghurt
Crisps
Blueberries
Tomatoes
Cucumber
Chocolate bar
Bottle of water/rarely squash
Sometimes raisins
Sometimes a boiled egg

(This is for DD who is 4, obsessed with fruit, veg and chocolate and doesn't really like sandwiches)

HelenaGWells · 26/01/2017 09:51

Mine usually have a sandwich, a small chocolate bar (like a penguin or similar) a frube or other yoghurt and then something savoury like a cheese string or a mini pepperami. They usually drink water but the youngest occasionally has juice.

It's basically a sandwich with yoghurt, a small savoury snack and a small sweet snack. I used to put fruit in but None of mine eat fruit at school so I've given up sending it. I replaced it with the savoury snack. They have snack time at school so I think the frube or pepperami often ends up being snack.

I've never had an issue with the lunchbox police either. School just ask that we don't send fizzy drinks or large chocolate bars.

I know it could be healthier but they are all a healthy weight and we eat well at home. If they start to pile on weight I would reassess.

Purplefrogshoes · 26/01/2017 09:52

Dd 8 has carton of apple juice, stormtrooper shaped ham sandwiches, baby bel, sliced cucumber and crisps (baked). School has banned sweets, biscuits and fried crisps Shock

icanteven · 26/01/2017 09:52

Not a day goes by when I am not grateful for hot school dinners.

There's no option to bring in food (private school) - it's a hot meal for everyone, with a good few choices available.

They do bring in a snack for little break though, and after lots of trial and error, they bring in one Yoyo Bear Fruit thing each. The other day I found my 8yo's little secrete stash of all her Yoyo cards in her pencil case and it brought a tear to my eye. They were all in colour order and perfectly maintained.

RhubarbGin · 26/01/2017 09:53

I don't have a pic but this week so far they've had the same every day as I'm using the leftover sliced meat from Sunday's roast. They also always get the same yoghurt, fruit, and single treat bar/biscuit item in every box anyway.

Dc1 has:
roast turkey sandwich on 50/50 bread (proper home roasting joint, not processed), handful of grapes, small pot of plain natural Greek yoghurt (higher protein, natural fat, no added sugar or sweeteners), a small biscuit bar (rocky/penguin etc), and water to drink.

Ds2 has the same but with a satsuma instead of grapes.

Camomila · 26/01/2017 09:55

DS 9 months usually has a couple of plain cream crackers and some celery sticks (teething) in his bag.
He is allergic to strawberries, citrus and banana and 9/10 times the snack on offer at playgroups is satsuma or banana

DH lunch he takes to work is very school lunchboxy
Cheese and ham sandwich
Carton of juice
Skips!
Penguin bar Grin
Token apple he only eats if starving

Spring2016 · 26/01/2017 09:55

Mine usually came home for lunch, but school lunches were a sandwich, usually tuna or salmon, ham and cheese, or baloney and cheese, on whole wheat, an apple or orange, yogurt, juice, granola bar or a couple of biscuits. Mostly they came home for lunch though.

Cryingwithlaughter91 · 26/01/2017 09:58

Today my son (nearly 6 YO) had :

Ham Sandwiches
Chopped Mango
Prawn Cocktail Crisps
Yoghurt Pouch
Carton of Ribena.

Sometimes he will have a Bear Yoyo or raisins too. Fruit also changes often.

Wafflenose · 26/01/2017 09:59

Mine are 8 and 11. I try to make different every day, but today they have:

Cheese spread and ham sandwich on half and half bread
Banana
Frube
Kit Kat
Bottle of water

Captainladder · 26/01/2017 10:00

Mine (8 and 6)took

Pitta stuffed with cheese and cucumber
Piece of homemade apple and date cake
Satsuma
They have water from their bottles at school

If they have a club they take popcorn as a snack

Petal12 · 26/01/2017 10:01

They have the same day in, day out!
Ham roll
Crisps
Apple juice
Pot of berries
Cheese chunks and carrot and cucumber sticks
Yoghurt
Bear yo yo
They both eat the lot! 4 & 7

musicinspring1 · 26/01/2017 10:02

My ds is 5 and quite 'particular'.. he has in his packed lunch today..
a mini bagel with butter on
A cheese string
Some grapes cut in half
Some rice cakes (apple flavour)
A goodies oat bar (apple flavour)
A frube
Water

MrsKoala · 26/01/2017 10:02

Here is ds1 lunch. He eats this lunch every single day. He sometimes has it for dinner too. This is the healthiest thing he has eaten in 2 years. I feel no shame although I'm sure I am meant to.

FeliciaJollygoodfellow · 26/01/2017 10:02

I put mine on the other thread - jam sandwiches, crisps, Frube and fruit, normally a satsuma but sometimes grapes.

Normally on a Sunday we bake a flapjack together and they have a piece of that but I've clearly been slacking in that area recently!

Notthecarwashagain · 26/01/2017 10:02

DS has:
Philadelphia sandwich (white bread)
Bottle of water
Mini chedders
Actimel yoghurt
Nakd bar

Same lunch every single day!

ragdoll700 · 26/01/2017 10:03

My daughter brings crackers with butter, ham a portion of fruit usually strawberries, blueberries or orange and a bottle of water. If she has a sandwich I have to give the bread with butter and the filling on the side fussy 5 year old.

MrsKoala · 26/01/2017 10:03

oh and the sandwiches are chicken and mayo. every. single. day. no deviation.

GinIsIn · 26/01/2017 10:03

We haven't got any DC yet but I did make a packed lunch this morning for our neighbour's son (their kitchen is being redone and he has ASD, and needs to take his own lunch in his own lunchbox to be happy eating it). He's 15.

Disclaimer: I am NOT one of those people where everything has to be homemade, organic etc - I have no objection to a cheese and crisp sandwich (oh god, now I want one!) but I am on mat leave and frantically batch cooking and nesting before the baby gets here, hence all the home baking in this one! Grin

It had:
Cheese, ham and tomato pinwheels that I baked yesterday
Small pot of homemade rice pudding with spiced plum compote
Bag of apple wedges and carrot sticks
Salt and vinegar squares
And a chocolate hazelnut cookie

Rice pudding is a new food for him apparently - he's not a big eater of wet food, but has eaten it 2 days in a row so far so fingers crossed for today!
