Inspired by the other thread ....

Who is brave enough to take the challenge? Who dishes out crisps and penguins?

No judging just out of interest to see what the DC if mners really eat!

Obviously too late today for most, but tomorrow?

My daughter (2) has either a cheese or Philadelphia sandwich, fruit, cereal bar and a Ribena or fruit shoot.

ILikeyourHairyHands · 27/01/2017 20:05

Food make a me happy too Shockers I often look at a meal I've made and think it would make a lovely photo. I hold back though.

I do actually really like looking at other people's repasts on FB despite the hatred for such endeavours. I just always feel if I posted mine it would look a bit...braggy.

ILikeyourHairyHands · 27/01/2017 20:05

(And I'm generally too busy eating it).

shockedtomycore · 27/01/2017 20:09

I'm flabbergasted reading what people give to their kids to eat. So much processed food! And sugar! Ham and reconstituted meat.

No wonder so many people r obese in this country! It's winter and yet people feed their kids, the future generation absolute crap that adds nothing to their health and growth!

shockedtomycore · 27/01/2017 20:16

No one seems to care about nutritional value!

AntiQuitty · 27/01/2017 20:17

Is shockedtomycore your name for just this thread or do you flabbergast around other threads as well?!?

shockedtomycore · 27/01/2017 20:19

@AntiQuity
Are u saying a ham sandwich has a lot of nutritional value and is healthy?

ILikeyourHairyHands · 27/01/2017 20:19

You are indeed Shocked!, To your core!.

Despite having a love of food, I find it very difficult to get over-excited about what other people eat and what they chose to feed their children.

And there's fook all wrong with good ham.

ILikeyourHairyHands · 27/01/2017 20:22

A ham sandwich, made with home cured or decent quality ham, on wholegrain bread with butter and a bit of salad would be a nutritious part of a lunch.

What's you beef (or ham) Shocked?

TheFirstMrsDV · 27/01/2017 20:23

But ITS WINTER!!!

Won't someone think of the children? Sad

JerryFerry · 27/01/2017 20:23

Blown away by the sugar content in most of these lunches 😳
Don't be fooled by commercial speak folks, fruit juice, fruit pouches, cereal bars, or in fact just about anything in a pouch or packet is laden with added sugar. We need to fight back!

AntiQuitty · 27/01/2017 20:26

No shocked I'm asking about your username!

TheFirstMrsDV · 27/01/2017 20:27

I thought it was too good to be true.
Is this going to turn into the Sausage and Mash thread?

JerryFerry · 27/01/2017 20:28

Some ideas if you're interested

Boiled egg
Cheese (full fat, no plastic slices)
Tuna
Cherry tomatoes/carrot/capsicum/appl/banana/berries
Hummus

I find the bento style boxes make it easy to pack

ILikeyourHairyHands · 27/01/2017 20:32

Also Shocked, a truly health diet, both mentally and physically, would include pretty much any food you could mention.

Balance and variety is key, not over-prescriptive and rigid ideas about nutrition.

That way madness (and little joy) lie.

nokidshere · 27/01/2017 20:37

My (now 18yr old) went through the whole of primary school with the same food every day - anything else came back uneaten.

Marmite sandwich
Cheese string
Muller probiotic drinking yoghurt

Funnily enough he won't eat any of those things now Grin

allthatnonsense · 27/01/2017 20:37

I'm so tempted to post a photo of a packet of B&H and a Hip Flask, but I don't want be accused of trolling!

Someone have their child a ham sandwich???

My 2 year old has just smashes through 3 slices of dominos. I'll call social services myself.

shockedtomycore · 27/01/2017 20:43

So funny whenever someone has a different opinion, they get accused of trolling.

Surely if one truly cares about their kids, they would consider what they r feeding said kids. Nutritional value of reconstituted meats and packets of popcorn/crisps or other sugary treats are pretty much nil.

I am saddened to see the contents of some toddlers lunchbox. Instead of accusing me of trolling, look into yourself and ask how are you benefitting the growth of your kids. What vitamins are u putting into their body!

ILikeyourHairyHands · 27/01/2017 20:44

See my first post allthat.

notasausage · 27/01/2017 20:49

For tomorrow at dancing DD1 (8) will have
2 sandwich thins - jam and Nutella
Capri sun & water
Pom bears
Banana
Caramel wafer
Pouch yogurt
Peperami
Chomp Blush

TBH she would have much the same for school but without the chomp!

AntiQuitty · 27/01/2017 20:49

Dammit shocked I didn't accuse you of trolling! I was actually curious if you were shocked to your core by children being fed food! Now I'm going to have to advance search to see if it's literally this whole feeding children food that has shocked you to the core or if it's left over from Trump being elected or something!

TheFirstMrsDV · 27/01/2017 20:50

Start your own thread then. There are loads of hand wringing angsty, bordering on ED, obsessive food threads on MN.
Personally I think its refreshing to see something more balanced for a change.

Riversleep · 27/01/2017 20:54

Mine had leftover vegetable stir fry in a food flask Halo . Normally he has a ham sandwich, drink, some fruit and a cake bar or flapjack. The same fruit normally goes back the next day...
