Dog poo warning picture

So my OH doesn't like our dog. He is an excitable puppy (it was agreed we could get him for the kids) but very loving and gentle with our new baby. All the kids love him and he is my little companion whilst on maternity leave. As a young dog he sometimes has accidents indoors. Tonight he pooped in the hallway. My OH stood in it and dragged it up the stairs. Not an accidental smudge but a deliberate protest against the dog. I feel he has done it on purpose and he denies this. However he only has dog Poo on one shoe so unless he was hopping up the stairs I don't see how this is an accident. It has been ground into the carpet. And it's not the first time, it's the third time. Last time he said he hadn't noticed he had stepped in it until he reached the top of the stairs, ensuring it was on every step along the way (again how unless he was hopping). And he was barefoot! How the hell do you not notice you have stepped in dog Poo when barefoot. I'm not sure if he is punishing me for not letting him out or if he is building a case to get rid of the dog. That won't happen as he is part of the family and I have made that clear. So my AIBU, he has called me crazy and stupid this evening for suggesting this was anything other than an accident. I don't see how it could be anything other than deliberate. AIBU to accuse him of this. Sorry about the photo and the rant.

Believe me - as the owner of 3 dogs, if you step in poop in bare feet you know about it instantly.

fizzingmum · 23/01/2017 22:49

I work from home so he is always with me. Before I went on maternity leave, if I had to go to a meeting he would come with me in the car. He really is my pal and I love having him with me as much as possible. I would never leave him for more than a couple of hours. I had dogs as a child and loved them, but didn't realise until he arrived how much I could love one little furry boy.

I agree with dolly. He didn't want the dog - and made it clear. Perhaps you didn't want to hear that. You can't expect him to clean up after dog. I would resent - hugely- the need to clean up after a dog especially if I had not been in favour in the first place.

fizzingmum · 23/01/2017 22:50

How could you not just love this little face!

Mashing it into the carpet is a bit much, however maybe your husband has had enough of the dog.

He's made it clear from the start he didn't want it, so why should he clear up after it? Your dog, your problem.

fizzingmum · 23/01/2017 22:52

Headof, I wouldn't expect him to clean up after him, or take part in his daily care. But nor would I expect him to spread shit around my home as some kind of misplaced dirty protest!

My family would tred mud up the stairs without noticing. Just like your pic.

Bundao · 23/01/2017 22:56

That is a face only a mother could love Grin I am head over heels in love with my fugly dog as well

OutToGetYou · 23/01/2017 22:57

It looks deliberate. How unhygienic of him to do that with kids in the house.

But.....how do you know it was solid before he stepped in it? Are you saying you had seen it but left it there?

fizzingmum · 23/01/2017 22:59

I know it was solid before he stood in it as the remainder of it was still on the hallway rug.

fizzingmum · 23/01/2017 23:01

Bundao, I have to laugh cos people say he is ugly all the time. And I genuinely can't see it. I even go as far as to think he is handsome. Blinded with puppy love clearly!

What sort of person rubs shit into their own carpet? Confused

Eminado · 23/01/2017 23:12

Spam

Exactly.

RainbowJack · 23/01/2017 23:17

So what's the plan?

You're going to live like this for 12 years?

Seems irresponsible to get an animal when your OH isn't happy. It sounds like he had to go along with it because 5 out of 6 love it.

biddleyboo · 23/01/2017 23:26

Ah, he is super cute. Those big bulbous eyes Shock

I like the pissing on his pillow suggestion from PP

fizzingmum · 23/01/2017 23:28

To be clear, he agreed to get the dog and was indifferent. Along the lines of as long as your not asking me to do anything. He had ample chance to say no and didn't. He just didn't want any of the responsibility. Only now is he intolerant. So of course we won't live like this for 12 years, the OH will be long gone by then if this carries on! Wink

fizzingmum · 23/01/2017 23:29

Ha ha biddley, my sister says that about his eyes.

biddleyboo · 23/01/2017 23:32

She would be right, they must have their own gravitational pull Wink

SuburbanRhonda · 23/01/2017 23:35

I would worry he might end up being cruel to the dog, tbh.

Bundao · 23/01/2017 23:37

He reminds me of a cartoon, I wish I could find it. I love his one eye looking at you, the other looking for you Wink

Obviouspretzel · 23/01/2017 23:42

I feel like not enough people are sufficiently shocked at a man who would grind dog shit into his own carpet. What the fuck ?

OohhItsNotHoxton · 23/01/2017 23:43

Your OH is jealous.
I had this with an ex. He was ridiculously jealous of my dog (and time I spent on line, also when I went alone to scatter my DM ashes but that is a whole other thread).
I solved the issue by ending it with the OH.
Looking back now he was a vile human being. He seemed lovely at the time.

GinIsIn · 23/01/2017 23:43

Accidents aren't that common in a 1 year old dog. How often are you distracted to the point that the dog's needs aren't being met? It doesn't sound ideal if your OH hates and ignores him, and you aren't able to give him enough attention.

OohhItsNotHoxton · 23/01/2017 23:44

Also your puppy is adorable.

CondensedMilkSarnies · 23/01/2017 23:51

Pretzel me too . Whilst I agree the dog is cute , are people and more importantly the Op not horrified that a grown adult has wilfully smeared dog shit into a carpet ?

Fair enough if he just left the poo there and told someone that it needs clearing up , but to tread in it WTF ? I'm actually not sure he really trod in it tbh, I reckon he used something else to smear it.

If he did tread in it (on purpose) then I reckon there's something wrong with his head.
