to be pissed at my husband for not telling me when to stop shopping?

So my husband and I had an agreement three years ago that he will set aside £900 per month for savings immediately. And that he'd tell me if I'm going overboard with spending. Since I don't manage money well, he takes care of it.

Anyway admittedly sometimes I go overboard (although I return a lot of what I buy) but I keep asking him and he just says he has money.

So now I just found out all we have is $2500, which will go to card payment and my summer class tuition fee.

His salary is £49000 net. We rent, we don't have a car, we have no kids. He has no vices, although he did have a tooth implant and root canal procedure last year which cost a lot.

I don't work but I have an internship that pays a bit, which I put in a savings account - so essentially that's our only savings.

I am pissed because I wasn't expecting this. So if he gets sacked from his job for any reason we won't have money.

But you are not saving money, you are spending it.

Stop fucking spending it and grow up.

KateDaniels2 · 19/01/2017 06:52

So use your intership money as your own spending money, regukate yourself and use what you have saved to pay the bill.

I am not sure if i even believe this is real. Your spending got you here, why havebt you already covered this bill?

KateDaniels2 · 19/01/2017 06:52

How can you sell it on ebay if you return 'most' of it?

Kathmandu12 · 19/01/2017 06:54

How can you sell it on ebay if you return 'most' of it?

Because most is different from all.

Stop spending money then!
Or least cut up your cards and only spend a pre-allocated amount of cash.
But most of all, grow up and take some personal responsibility.

Kathmandu12 · 19/01/2017 06:55

I don't understand what you mean.

This is all a bit baffling OP.

Just stop spending.

KateDaniels2 · 19/01/2017 06:57

Spend what you have saved to pay your fees.

Its not that difficult. You find yourself where all your dhs money has gone. Soend your own.

KateDaniels2 · 19/01/2017 06:57

spend

Kathmandu12 · 19/01/2017 06:57

OhTheRoses

Yes he said he did not want me to be upset so he did not tell me I was overspending. He said that's my happiness - shopping.

So you get a grant loan for studying and a small salary from your internship both of which you save and you are happy to spend the money your husband earns?

And you are annoyed because he hasn't told you to stop spending?

What happens when he does tell you to stop? What if he said no more spending? You have enough stuff. Then what? You're annoyed at him for not telling you to stop I imagine you'd be annoyed if he did.

ConvincingLiar · 19/01/2017 06:58

Time to grow up.

I find spending only cash much better, it feels more real.

DustyMaiden · 19/01/2017 06:58

I'm cross with my DH he does didnt tell me to stop eating and now I am fat.

diddl · 19/01/2017 06:58

So he pays for everything plus saves & you spend so much that you spend the savings?

As a pp said, why not just spend ypur own money own yourself & when that's gone nothing else until the next pay day?

That would at least be a start wouldn't it?

Saving 1,000 per month from a 49,000 salary sounds a big chunk of it tbh.

Kathmandu12 · 19/01/2017 06:59

So you get a grant loan for studying and a small salary from your internship both of which you save and you are happy to spend the money your husband earns?

No, I only have a small salary from internship. No grant loan. He's the one who said put that directly on my savers account.

What are you buying that you return or sell on ebay.

You returned most of it. What is it you are buying that is goint to bring in decent miney selling on ebay when you dont even have most of it.

OnionKnight · 19/01/2017 07:00

But why put it in your savers account if you are just going to spend it? You must know what is in there because you are spending from it.

Kathmandu12 · 19/01/2017 07:00

So he pays for everything plus saves & you spend so much that you spend the savings?

Apparently but to be honest, I could not have spend $2500 ($1500 supposed savings + supposed play money) in any month! The most I would have spent was probably $1000 when I bought a leather jacket.

MadHattersWineParty · 19/01/2017 07:00

Don't you know when you're spending has 'gone overboard' Confused

You don't even keep a basic mental tally?

Kathmandu12 · 19/01/2017 07:01

But why put it in your savers account if you are just going to spend it? You must know what is in there because you are spending from it.

No. My internship money is in my savers account.

I charge everything to our credit card, which he pays from his salary.

OP posts:
KateDaniels2 · 19/01/2017 07:01

Dont put it in yiur savers account.

Use that as your soend money and dont touch his wages.

Use the money you have saved for your tuition and the card bill or at least some of it if you cant cover it all.

Be responsible for yourself

OnionKnight · 19/01/2017 07:01

$1000 on a leather jacket Hmm

Fucking hell.

Kathmandu12 · 19/01/2017 07:02

*Don't you know when you're spending has 'gone overboard' .

You don't even keep a basic mental tally?*

I think I have admitted many times that I am bad with money. I also have a shopping problem. Thats why I asked him to tell me if I am spending more than I should.

OP posts:
RebelRogue · 19/01/2017 07:02

OP is the money you spend just for you,or do you use it for the home as well(food shopping, bills etc)?

Tbh if he pays mortgage/rent,electric,gas,internet,food and so on,added with your spending and stuff for himself his wage won't stretch as far as putting aside 1.500 or 900 or whatever.
You need to be a grownup and take responsibility for yourself and your spending. Not just that but you need to take an active interest in the household finances, how much money there is where it is going etc. Not just wait to be told,if you're told. You're not 5 ffs!!

Kathmandu12 · 19/01/2017 07:03

*$1000 on a leather jacket hmm

Fucking hell.*

No. Total of $1000. Jacket plus other stuff that month.
