To be frustrated with the teeny tiny crotch sizes on women's knickers?

Having insomniac musings tonight.

Does anyone else find that knickers bought from high street stores must be made for female Borrowers, the crotch part is so bloody tiny! I relented and threw away 4 pairs today that are very uncomfortable. It's impossible to get a sanitary towel on most of them, and I'm sick of scuttling to the loo the pull out my 'front wedgie'. Who are these women with teeny tiny vulvas? I wouldn't dare wear a thong, the crotch parts are only about half an inch thick! Where can I buy a nice firm and ample gusset at the grand old age of 30?

OR

does no one else at all have his problem and I just have a very large vajayjay? Confused

Sorry, lumelaMme, that was your comment I failed to highlight

Almostrubbish · 20/01/2017 05:30

Yes yabu I think that's very odd!

I bought myself a pack of m and s big pants just before Xmas and I love them. So so comfy

Mini boden is brilliant for little girls pants. My mum bought some for dd2 and they've gone down to dd3 Blush and very comfy and great quality

littleowltoo · 20/01/2017 07:06

Has anyone thought about wearing mens briefs? Shocking I know! But I have tried some of my husband’s small sized briefs and they were fine. The piece at the front for their bits is not that big.(ha ha) The gussets are as wide as a prairie. Lets face it, if they are comfy, who will know. (men wear women’s knickers).
For women’s knickers I always buy two sizes up to make sure they are comfy. You can gets lots of bargains in their sales for larger sizes.

For anyone in London, Victoria's Secret do some lovely short style knickers, fully bum covering.

Orangepear · 20/01/2017 11:16

Can anyone recommend something for after c-section overhang? I'm 9 months on now so healed but anything on my scar is itchy. The massive pants I had for afterwards are okay but baggy now and you can see them over the top of my jeans! So I'm looking for something lower cut than granny pants but higher than bikini. And doesn't roll down. Help!

Primark do a 5 pack of 100% cotton full briefs for £3.50. They are ok for the price and last fairly well but the odd pair does fall apart from the elastic quite fast. The duel sizing can be a pain as I would like a 12 but they only do 12-14 which are a little big or a 8-10 which are too small.

Tesco full briefs are also ok. They are my current favourites. £5 for a 4 pack.

The problem I find with pants is the double fabric part of the gusset is too small length wise it should sit higher at the front. I have also in the past resorted to making my own pants on the sewing machine and they are much more comfy than shop bought ones but work out more expensive - good quality 100% cotton fabric is expensive. I have made quite a few pairs for DD when she outgrew the gap toddler sizes (the non elastic waistband ones) and didn't like standard pants from other shops. This thread has just reminded me I really should raid my fabric stash and make some more pants.

GoLightly there's Victoria's Secret in Leeds, Manchester, Cardiff, Bristol, Sheffield, Birmingham etc etc.

ImCatbug · 20/01/2017 12:17

littleowl I do this! I find men's boxer briefs so much more comfortable, and since I live in jeans all the time they're great. Can be a pain if I want to wear tights as they were not designed to fit neatly under tights/leggings and tend to roll up at the bottom but then I just switch to my comfiest women's underwear.

GoLightlyHollie · 20/01/2017 13:22

Rogan oops. Sorry about that. My lot get so excited about coming to London to go to Victoria Secret that I thought it was only in London since it only opened here a year or so ago. Didn't realise that it was all over the place. Which is a good thing, they have great knickers!

BeyondCanSeeTheEmperorsBellend · 20/01/2017 13:37

Asda high legs for me, I have about a billion pairs. All black. Grin

MCMLXVII · 20/01/2017 13:38

@TheFreaksShallInheritTheEarth

I think they all must be designed by men

Maybe, but this man likes a nice shorts type arrangement. Granny knickers are also fine! We're mostly just pleased to see them at all :-D

TheOtherSock · 20/01/2017 14:17

There's something distinctly unsexy about the prospect of a packet of knickers bearing the description, "Extra-wide, extra-long double gusset" - but I'd buy them.

TheOtherSock · 20/01/2017 14:19

The men's briefs I wear don't have a double gusset at all, but the fabric is much thicker all over so they don't need one. And it means my bum is nice and warm.

BertieBotts · 20/01/2017 14:24

Orange see if you can get some Tchibo pants online, they'd do it I think.

banivani · 20/01/2017 15:35

Oh, I meant to say - I know a woman who works for a clothes brand and designs swimwear, so I brought up the crotch issue and she just clearly DIDN'T want to discuss it. I asked something like "why are they so narrow? everything falls out?" and she looked uncomfortable at the idea of my everything falling out (fair enough but I don't WANT it that way) and just said something like "those are the designs".

I honestly don't think brands care one bit about making wearable clothes anymore. It's like they're not supposed to perform a FUNCTION at all.

lilybetsy · 20/01/2017 15:44

I am a size 8 and buy size 18 - 20 knickers for this reason exactly. I HATE them being too tight ...

mammamic · 20/01/2017 16:44

Another M&S midi fan here. And for period week - I get have the full on granny up to the waist ones - zero slippage or accidents.

Sloggi are also great but more expensive

Don't they just fall down? Confused

Treaclex · 20/01/2017 17:12

I'd rather some teeny tiny knickers than what I received this morning

To be frustrated with the teeny tiny crotch sizes on women's knickers?
fuzzylj · 20/01/2017 17:29

Agreed!
Most pants crap. I've settled for John Lewis large apple-catchers.
As for knickers for girls - DON'T GET ME STARTED!
Resorted to making my own for her from upside down t-shirts as all others just flash all her bits and bobs. Not good for story time or PE.
Looks like I'm saddled with bespoke knickers for sometime to come though :/

Deejoda · 20/01/2017 18:15

YANBU! I go for shorts style seamless panties to get around that. Debenhams has a good selection

mistressWiseGuy · 21/01/2017 10:13

Wow I think I'm going to start buying men's pants. It never occurred to me before this thread but it seems like a really good idea.
