To be frustrated with the teeny tiny crotch sizes on women's knickers?

CherryChasingDotMuncher · 18/01/2017 00:52

Having insomniac musings tonight.

Does anyone else find that knickers bought from high street stores must be made for female Borrowers, the crotch part is so bloody tiny! I relented and threw away 4 pairs today that are very uncomfortable. It's impossible to get a sanitary towel on most of them, and I'm sick of scuttling to the loo the pull out my 'front wedgie'. Who are these women with teeny tiny vulvas? I wouldn't dare wear a thong, the crotch parts are only about half an inch thick! Where can I buy a nice firm and ample gusset at the grand old age of 30?

OR

does no one else at all have his problem and I just have a very large vajayjay? Confused

Physiology = physio. I changed to a new phone keyboard and it keeps autocorrecting me.

Manumission · 18/01/2017 11:30

firm and ample gusset

That's a lovely NC if anyone is in the market for one Smile

Manumission · 18/01/2017 11:35

Sloggi are better than M&S for sensible cotton knickers, gusset-wise, I think.

If you're doing wispy lacy fripperies Alice Temperley is better than just about anyone in terms of wearability.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 18/01/2017 11:38

M&S and Asda for me, sometimes Evans. I hate a gusset with a seam that splits you in half - so lacy ones need to have a proper full gusset or they are no good. Most shorts from Evans are the split gusset kind and I have given up on them. Actually mens boxers are comfy.

Mrsfrumble · 18/01/2017 14:32

Check out the ample gussets on these! American Eagle Outfitter boy briefs; the only kecks I've ever owned where I can wear a disposable pad without giving myself a diy Brazilian on the overhanging sticky edges.

Used to only be available in the USA, but they've recently opened stores in the London Westfields and have a new U.K. website too.

Siobhain37 · 18/01/2017 16:44

Yes, the seamfree shorts from primark and trouser briefs are good

Manumission · 18/01/2017 16:46

Ooo mrsf I'm liking those longline bras too. I think you just cost me money Smile

SingaSong12 · 18/01/2017 16:48

M&S, never really tried other places.

whatsthepointofmorgan · 18/01/2017 16:57

What about bikini bottoms?! I bought a shorts pair the other year that seemed grand in the changing room and then when I stood in the pool and just wanted to adjust them a little I realised the crotch was so narrow a slight pull upwards made the whole wad of fabric disappear betwixt my nether lips

The crotch secions on their swimwear are ridiculously narrow.
I made the same mistake as you. I tried a one piece on in the changing room, bought it and wore it once swimming. Every time I moved, it disappeared wear the sun don't shine.
Never again. I had to chuck it

whatsthepointofmorgan · 18/01/2017 16:58

Don't M & S get their clothes made in other countries?

Maybe they use a different template to us.
Who are these nationalities who have such petite bits? Confused

Haffiana · 18/01/2017 17:04

THIS is the thread that the lazy journos should be stealing and giving wider coverage!

I wonder how many retailers have been too scared to make/sell sensible, comfortable underwear and have sold what they perceive as 'sexy' instead. Don't they realise that a woman needs sexy perhaps 5% of the time and needs physiologically appropriate for the other 95% of the time?

Munted · 18/01/2017 17:05

I used to find g strings quite comfy but now need something with much more substance to encase my crotch area. Is it a post-childbirth thing? Is it like my feet which have spread and become wider over the years?

Big ups here too to the Sainsburys keks. Contains my marshmallow tummy too!

TheOtherSock · 18/01/2017 17:06

Men's briefs - Tesco or Sainsbury's. Broad gusset, fully-covered elastic round the edges (not edged with razorblades like women's knicks), nice thick material, full trouser protection. No apologies here; I like my comfort. If it's the Tesco ones I wear them inside out so the label in the back doesn't tickle me Grin

Cherylene · 18/01/2017 17:12

I like the cotton M&S midis with the elastic round the leg holes for every day as they are good with trousers, pads, my saggy tummy etc and not
vpl.

But they are such dull colours and patterns, and getting thinner Sad
I hate white cotton as it shows through everything and they are do not provide adequate trouser protection.

Thinking of trying those men's, OtherSock.

lapsedorienteerer · 18/01/2017 17:15

John Lewis own brand ones fit the bill.

FoxMulder · 18/01/2017 17:19

Bonds boy leg have got a nice wide crotch.

I just wear mens' pants as now I am old I find Bonds too low cut.

TaraCarter · 18/01/2017 17:24

If you want to splash out on fair-trade cotton, Amnesty- yes I do mean the human rights charity- sell some good wide briefs.

amnestyshop.org.uk/catalogsearch/result/?q=knickers

TaraCarter · 18/01/2017 17:29

Post got cut off!

My Amnesty ones are my period knickers, precisely because you can stick a pad in there without it overhanging at the sides for a DIY Brazilian-while-you-walk.

dottycat123 · 18/01/2017 17:32

After a horrendous razor rash I wore dh cotton boxer trunks for a few days. The comfort and coverage was so good I didn't want to return to my usual M and S ones.

Libitina · 18/01/2017 18:22

Maybe M&S should follow Clarks' shoe width fittings and have fanny width fittings on their knickers?
I've never had the problem of my fanny not fitting in my knickers. However, my arse is a different story.

MrsHathaway · 18/01/2017 19:24

Re bikinis - I get shorts bottoms nowadays. Vastly reduces the hair removal burden on holiday and very little danger of inadvertently flashing anyone.

TeaCakeLiterature · 18/01/2017 19:29

I'm a size 10 in clothing but I now wear M&S low rise short pants in size 16. They're so damn comfy on hips and groin area and not super loose. Love them! Used to buy 14 but then got 16 for wearing pads in after pregnancy and have never looked back even though I stopped bleeding months ago.

I'm ditching my 14s and stocking up fully on size 16 - it's the way to go!!!

DickHair73 · 18/01/2017 19:42

I gave up on knickers a few years ago. I either wear tights, leggings or trousers (all wool or cotton - no nylon!). No knickers required. Odd occasion knickers are necessary I'll only consider Sloggi. Everything gets washed everyday. I wash PJ's every day too.

Mamafaery · 19/01/2017 17:35

Sloggi full briefs. They come in all sorts of colours and sizes and they're the best pants ever. Expensive but sometimes you can get them cheap in Matalan or on sale on Amazon. Or Playtex full briefs. They're pretty comfortable and cheaper than sloggi.

Ladyrainbowsparkles · 19/01/2017 17:56

I cannot see past M&S full briefs, they are sooo comfy, and they have a bit of lace at the top so they are a little bit racy...😂😂😂 anything smaller is a waste of time when you have your period and your pad is all over the show..😨
