To be frustrated with the teeny tiny crotch sizes on women's knickers?

Having insomniac musings tonight.

Does anyone else find that knickers bought from high street stores must be made for female Borrowers, the crotch part is so bloody tiny! I relented and threw away 4 pairs today that are very uncomfortable. It's impossible to get a sanitary towel on most of them, and I'm sick of scuttling to the loo the pull out my 'front wedgie'. Who are these women with teeny tiny vulvas? I wouldn't dare wear a thong, the crotch parts are only about half an inch thick! Where can I buy a nice firm and ample gusset at the grand old age of 30?

OR

does no one else at all have his problem and I just have a very large vajayjay? Confused

YANBU Gives me the absolute rage. Big pants for me all the way now.

TitaniasCloset · 18/01/2017 06:45

Euphemia yes! This!

Huldra · 18/01/2017 06:48

Tesco seamless shorts for me.

gunsandbanjos · 18/01/2017 07:06

For kids the M&S seamfree shorts are great, my 13 year old DD only wears these and has done for a few years. I'd love an adult size version! Giving serious thought to seeing if the kids age 15-16 fits me.

SeaWitchly · 18/01/2017 07:25

Sainsburys make the best underpants imo. 100% cotton full briefs are so comfortable and they produce them in plain black and white or florals.
And you can pick a pack of 5 up for around £6 with your grocery shopping!
Job done!

SummerSazz · 18/01/2017 07:28

Sainsburys get my vote too. V comfy.

KayTee87 · 18/01/2017 07:31

Asda or M&S full briefs do the trick. I bought 10 pairs for after giving birth still wearing them almost 6 months later

dementedma · 18/01/2017 07:35

I find boy shorts are fine and have good coverage.
The fact a "boy" could use them as a tent for camping in the garden due to the size of them is irrelevant.

MiladyThesaurus · 18/01/2017 07:44

I've got some Sainsbury's full briefs and they are utterly enormous. They're much taller than they are wide and come right up to my bra. They do give ample coverage obviously.

HelenaGWells · 18/01/2017 07:46

I wear boy short style. Even then in half of them the crotch is tiny. You have to check!

Zarachristmas · 18/01/2017 07:52

Where are you buying them from op?

Debenhams, M&S, Next should have decent pants. I buy the shorts in 100% cotton. Never buy anything lacey.

Fatface do nice pants too which are also quite pretty and very good quality.

Always go at least a size up with pants too. I'm a 12 in jeans but always a 14 in pants if I want them comfy.

fishonabicycle · 18/01/2017 07:57

Always get M&S Brazilian style. Things are ridiculous. And yes - always go up a size so they are big enough.

ErnesttheBavarian · 18/01/2017 07:58

But shorts don't have elasticated legs do they? So for me they just ride up my arse and are hideously uncomfortable. And totally unflattering, not that anyone sees them.

I also just have M&S multi pack, dunno what exactly they're called, high leg bikini or something. Totally comfortable, no rising up, front or back.

Bertie, are you in Germany? Do a m&S order, no p&p, sorted. I often get the dc stuff, so they are not wearing the same as every other kid. Might try out the tschibo pants, well in a few years, as I have bizarre number of pairs. No idea how that happened.

TresDesolee · 18/01/2017 07:59

Another vote for M&S midis. Boy shorts don't work for me, they go straight up my derrière. The older I get the more I realise that clothes that actually fit me are much more flattering than clothes that are fashionable but completely the wrong size and shape

CaoNiMa · 18/01/2017 08:01

My local Home Bargains have some gloriously large knickers in at the moment. Almost comedy-style. I'm sorely tempted...

MissVictoria · 18/01/2017 08:02

AMEN sister! For years and years now (and im only 27!) i've only bought the multi-pack high leg briefs from matalan as they have a good wide gusset. Primark ones are ok too, but i find their sizing to be off, and the 16-18's i bought (i'm an 18's in matalan) were massive on me, so i may well have needed the 14-16s, maybe even the 12-14's but im not going to waste money i dont have trying to figure it out.

LadyPenelope68 · 18/01/2017 08:07

M&S high leg pants are the bees knees! High coverage for your stomach and bum cheeks and a decent crotch are. But, because they are cut high at the side they don't feel like granny pants.

RickJames · 18/01/2017 08:11

Ladies in Germany - C&A do marvellous organic cotton hipster pants with wide crotches and plenty of space in the back for a round bottom. They also come well up on your hips so no arse cleavage. I find a lot of pants very wide in the hip but no room for buttocks, or erm... flaps Blush

AudreyBradshaw · 18/01/2017 08:17

Agree, I am another with a plentiful and somewhat wayward labia. M&S low rise short in multi pack are my go-to gusset of choice.

ArgyMargy · 18/01/2017 08:17

I never knew this was a problem! For some reason I've never bought knickers from anywhere other than M&S. Bikini style or high leg. Perfect fit for me.

On the down side, clearly I'm not being showered with sexy underwear from ardent admirers...

toomuchtooold · 18/01/2017 08:28

I go for M&S shorts but they're narrower than sanitary towels so you get that painful "sanitary pad vs pubic hair" situation. Aargh. I have retained some ancient M&S high legs as period pants (they seem to have got narrower in the last... 8 or 9 years? Christ am I old) but they are falling apart.

Might give the German C&A pants a look, good tip. I did buy pants here for the kids and noticed they are more generously bum- and tummy-covering than the tiny little hankies they sell at Mothercare.

taybert · 18/01/2017 08:28

Sainsbury's! Only thing is they shrink a bit but they're cheap enough to replace fairly frequently, especially with the 25% off thing they do.

banivani · 18/01/2017 08:34

Oh GOD my tribe. Never mind knickers, what about bikini bottoms?! I bought a shorts pair the other year that seemed grand in the changing room and then when I stood in the pool and just wanted to adjust them a little I realised the crotch was so narrow a slight pull upwards made the whole wad of fabric disappear betwixt my nether lips. And I've been looking at knickers and bikini bottoms in the shops now and the latter have consistently narrower crotches (to make us all shave everything I assume).

Do not attempt to google for crotches and bikini it doesn't end well.

APlaceOnTheCouch · 18/01/2017 08:35

Tesco French knickers are comfy and M&S midis. I sent DH to pick up a few pairs from M&S once. He looked at the size at the front of the rail and assumed all the ones behind it were the same size. I ended up with pants from size 8 to size 16 Hmm

HollyJollyDillydolly · 18/01/2017 08:46

My latest pants have an inch wide crotch too, totally impractical Confused
Sanitary towels are at least twice as wide so they overhang. Not sure who has been designing these teeny crotch pants men

Is this something else I need to worry about, having oversized lips to fit into pants?
