Males in female prisons

WankingMonkey · 15/01/2017 17:25

I have noticed a fair bit of support for 'identification' over sex on MN. I am just wondering what peoples opinions are on males wanting into female prisons because they are 'trans'?

If possible, have a think, write out a reply...and then read this

As I have seen many defenses along the lines of 'noone would pretend to be a woman' and such. But here we have a clear example of this in action. And it is impossible to let 'some' do it and not others, isn't it. You can't make laws without clear boundaries of course.

I actually can't believe it has taken someone like Huntley to wake up a fair few of my friends, this is all over my facebook today with people suddenly u-turning on their previous stance...

I am totally bereft at the moment because I am rewatching lots of films to see if they will be okay for DD (who is oversensitive about violence in the extreme) and every single one of my much loved films is just a sexist, stereotyping nightmare.

I used to like star trek too.....

Italiangreyhound · 25/01/2017 23:13

Morphene what films are you looking at?

We saw 'Sing' the other day, it was good, several positive female roles.

Inside Out is quite positive too.

How old is DD, roughly?

Morphene · 26/01/2017 15:24

She's 5....just very very sensitive to dramatic tension.

Even kids programmes that have the oh no! What if the adults spot the robot? type dramatic tension, freak her out to the point she can't watch

she is 20 odd episodes into Annedroids and she still freaks out every time it looks like something bad will happen...I'm like, does anything bad actually ever happen in the end? EVER????

But no....

So is inside out relatively devoid of violence and/or dramatic tension?

I'll have a look at 'sing' and many thanks for the suggestions!

Italiangreyhound · 26/01/2017 17:10

I would watch them first. There are some quite 'scary' but funny bits in Inside out and a ............clown!

Sing has dramatic tension. Limited. I would say about the sane as Inside Out.

I would suggest you face this fear and work on it a bit, if you can.

I wonder if What to Do When You Worry Too Much: A Kid's Guide to Overcoming Anxiety (What-to-Do Guides for Kids) might help.

In your shoes I would get her to do some dramatic play or even 'write' a story together with pictures. Get her to build in the level of dramatic tension she can cope with and re-play the game a few times so she can see, -quite, fun, calm, tension, building, ohhhh nooooo, OK that worked out fine.

Of course life is not like this but often stories (apart from horror films) are and she could work on managing her own levels of -quite, fun, calm, tension, building, ohhhh nooooo, OK that worked out fine.

Just an idea. Smile

Transwoman Kayleigh Woods has been sentenced to life for the violent and sadistic murder of Bethany Hill www.ibtimes.co.uk/two-found-guilty-sadistic-killing-young-woman-after-practising-barbie-doll-1603130

No word on whether Woods has been sent to a female prison, or mens.

Bambambini · 26/01/2017 23:53

Unbelievable- remember when this case broke and being shocked that a young couple could do such a shocking crime. As a woman, i'm really angry at all these violent crimes being attributed to women when it is actually males.

"Kayleigh Woods and her boyfriend Jack Williams killed Bethany Hill in a flat they shared."

Should read ...

Kyle Lockwood and his boyfriend Jack Williams killed Bethany Hill in a flat they shared.

I wish the fucking media would STOP lying to us about who commits crimes.

adhdoh · 27/01/2017 00:10

Well yes, there is this:

"The court also heard at one stage before her death Miss Hill was planning to get pregnant with a baby fathered by Woods."

How the fuck does a 'she' father a baby?

He can call himself Kayleigh if he wants tbh, but I don't understand the Lockwood -> Woods thing. Often this is done by transgender criminals to cover up past offending.

Italiangreyhound · 27/01/2017 00:11

This is called gaslighting

Whenever you see this in the paper or on line, you can write and complain.

Bambambini · 27/01/2017 00:14

It's getting that we just don't know how though. I feel like history and the truth is being rewritten. Beyond fucked up!

italian Thanks for that idea - I will certainly give it some thought - I think we might be causing trouble by chatting on a controversial thread!

Italiangreyhound · 28/01/2017 00:04

Morphene I try not to be controversial all the bloody time!

PM me if you like.

Italian.

PS I have no idea if working on a book together is a good idea but it is based on the manage your fears in small bite-sized pieces!!
