To want to never go to the cinema again?

Every. Single. Time. I go to the cinema, there's at least one person who talks/texts/crunches through the film and generally does their best to ruin it for everyone. I usually feel too hesitant to say anything as they've already proven themselves lunatics who care not for others.

Last night it was LA LA Land. Absolutely brilliant, gorgeous film, ruined by some tosser who decided to loudly tap his foot throughout every musical number. He wasn't even in time.

I love watching films but AIBU to not spend any more money on going out to see them, because no one knows how to behave politely? We have Netflix, Google and Amazon video I suppose...

Saor with that educational and informative post Lady M is sure all can be wiser and use that knowledge going forward.

hazeyjane · 15/01/2017 19:58

Was that to me, Skyye?!

PumpkinPie2016 · 15/01/2017 19:59

YANBU - we haven't been for ages because I resent paying good money to have to listen to someone eating noisy snacks throughout!

It absolutely gives me the rageAngry honestly, it makes me irrationally angry!

So I wait for the DVD and watch in my own living room where noisy snacks are not allowed during filmsGrin

SaorAlbaGuBrath · 15/01/2017 19:59

Thank you Lady M if someone is calm and reasonable with me, I try to explain things in kind. It's only fair.

SaorAlbaGuBrath · 15/01/2017 20:01

hazeyjane no, it was at the PP who came on and was immediately goady. Skyye wouldn't have said that about your post Smile

SaorAlbaGuBrath · 15/01/2017 20:02

Dawndonnaagain, the OP and people in general are not referring to disabled people. I had an autistic person sitting next to me who kept talking and I didn't say a word. Move on now
That's who Skyye was talking to.

SquatBetty · 15/01/2017 20:04

I so want to go to a 'special snow flake screening' as mentioned upthread! But I would allow some laughing if it was a funny film and quiet sobbing would be acceptable if it was a sad film Grin

toyd · 15/01/2017 20:06

Oh dear!

skyyequake · 15/01/2017 20:09

hazeyjane nooooooo!!! I agree with your post entirely and it was very well written! I cross posted a lot Confused

hazeyjane · 15/01/2017 20:15

Sorry Blush I'm obviously feeling a bit over senstive (after a nightmarish visit to The Range this afternoon, involving ds, a lack of shoes, some crawling on the floor and a lot of staring.......do you think they do 'special openings' of shops too?)

skyyequake · 15/01/2017 20:21

No worries I can see how it might have come across like that... just didn't want you thinking I disagreed with you!

They did a special opening of toys r us over Christmas with dimmed lights and no music.... hopefully they start a trend!

Madeyemoodysmum · 15/01/2017 20:34

I really don't get why the op is having such a hard time. Ok there may occasionally be someone with SN at a cinema making noise but I'm pretty happy to waiger the price of my house that the knobs I encounter at the cinema, Resturant etc on a frequent basis dont have SNs and they are just knobs.

They don't know or don't care to behave appropriately.

I once went to a ballet and some mum decided her 18 mth old was able to sit through a 3 hour show. She ruined it for the dancers and the audience. I complained and got a refund but it still ruined the trip which couldn't be repeated. Not to mention the dancers who are highly skilled artists.

I can't understand why this is turning into a SNs thread. It's just about selfishness.

pastizzi · 15/01/2017 20:36

Hear hear madeye.

SaorAlbaGuBrath · 15/01/2017 20:39

hazey the retail park near Glasgow (the Fort) and Asda in Hamilton do autism friendly sensory hours. Bloody brilliant! There must be others across the country?

SaorAlbaGuBrath · 15/01/2017 20:40

Also, sorry you had a tough day today hazeyjane, the Range is a hellhole at the best of times Sad

LadyMelbourne · 15/01/2017 20:40

Lady M is experiencing DeJa Vu

This isn't a SN thread.

Some posters have asked other
Posters to consider invisible disabilities in life generally.

❤ peace and love

Lady M sans kids and first thing in the morning, the Range is lovely. Any other time it's akin to the seventh circle of hell. Think primark on a lunch break

Lady and Lord Melbourne went to see Rogue One at the cinema on New Year's Eve, the 9.30pm showing. Most delightful.

As it was a rare social occasion the Melbournes splashed out on the posh seats (jewellery was jangled).

Directly behind the Melbournes was a group of four, two adults and two children of approximately early teen age.

One of these people consistently kicked or in some way moved the back of Lady Ms seat throughout the film.

Lady M was not arsed.

Rainbunny · 15/01/2017 21:21

I have come to hate the cinema experience in recent years for all the reasons pps have noted! Luckily a new type of cinema has come to my city, I have started going to a very high end luxury cinema chain (think cocktails and snacks like sushi, sweet potato fries etc... delivered by waiters to your reclining leather seats complete with side tables... bliss! It's not cheap but frankly having to pay more for the experience seems to weed out the noisy types.

SaorAlbaGuBrath · 15/01/2017 21:29

Lady M was not arsed
Actually crying with laughter Grin
