... on Piers Morgan. She's 76 ffs, and doesn't actually look too artificial Shock

CaraAspen - I remember you were on another thread berating women with short hair as looking hard and unfeminine. You don't half talk a load of bollocks sometimes.

I know it's bad form to bring up other threads but I don't much care in this case.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 13/01/2017 13:48

she always and still has the most amazing figure

yes she has had surgery but not to the extent some others have

she is still very attractive and I think she would still be without surgery

dibbley · 13/01/2017 14:10

Do brides really get upset if their MIL's outfit isn't a salmon pink twinset?

Nellyphants · 13/01/2017 14:26

& im sure I wore 'statement' dresses to weddings in my time. As in a dress that really suited me & showed my figure at its best. Not low cut or short, not my thing. I never got the memo that I was supposed to look like a sack of spuds

TaraCarter · 13/01/2017 14:45

I think there's a large grey expanse between sack of spuds and something that stunning!

Nellyphants · 13/01/2017 15:16

But RW is stunning in that photo. Was she supposed to down play this? Genuinely asking not being smart

ClopySow · 13/01/2017 15:16

Ooooooh Cara - ageist and misogynist? Good for you pal, good for you.

Nellyphants · 13/01/2017 15:17

Also meant to say stunning in photo as she is in RL

AnyFucker · 13/01/2017 15:26

Cara you don't like women much, do you

bummymummy77 · 13/01/2017 15:32

Cara are you my Mother? Grin

TaraCarter · 13/01/2017 15:43

Nellyphants, she looks a lot more stunning than usual, on account of the dress, though, and I imagine she knew that, seeing as she apparently only popped that one on when she saw the press. There's a scale of clothing from 1- trackies and a t-shirt to walk the dog and 10- what you wear to pick up an Oscar!

I think it's the cut-outs on the dress. You know how many women would say they look and feel more attractive in lingerie than they do naked? The cut-outs draw the eye and emphasis her features in a way a plain deep V-neck wouldn't. It's a fantastic design on a very beautiful woman, but it's striking nature makes her look a bit overdressed for the occasion.

bummymummy77 · 13/01/2017 15:55

I wouldn't give two shiny shits of anyone turned up like that at my wedding.

I have enough self confidence to not feel the need to look the best.

I'd also be pleased my mil felt good about herself.

Nellyphants · 13/01/2017 15:58

Still not convinced Tara why shouldn't she look stunning, she is stunning. Was she supposed to down play her attractiveness?

I don't get over dressed either, it was her son's wedding, surely one of the dressiet occasions in a woman's life??

Floisme · 13/01/2017 16:09

That photo always makes me laugh - and I'm mostly laughing at the bride for that sour look on her face. That's the main reason she's overshadowed.

TaraCarter · 13/01/2017 16:11

Probably not the dressiest occasion in Raquel Welch's life!

Anyway, if you don't get what I mean, look at Bafta outfits last year. www.telegraph.co.uk/fashion/events/baftas-2016-best-dressed-on-the-red-carpet/olga-kurylenko/ Looks great on her, but wouldn't be socially appropriate as an outfit for the groom's mother. After that, if you can't see the distinction I'm making, I can't help you.

Or the possibility you're talking utter nonsense?

It's not dressy compared to those bafta dresses you've linked to. It's a black dress with a deep V and cut outs. Not see through,no danger of showing any more than she wants just classic 'Sophia.'

Floisme · 13/01/2017 16:22

DameXanaduBramble · 13/01/2017 16:24

I think she always looks beautiful. The Cara poster on this thread needs to post a pic of how they're looking. I'll bet it's not a patch on RW.

Floisme · 13/01/2017 16:26

Whoops - the grin was for Navy.

But I agree with you too Dame I can't see the connection between a long, white see-through dress and Raquel Welch's outfit.

TaraCarter · 13/01/2017 16:29

Didn't say it was dressy compared to those ones. I thought that would be obvious! But I suppose I should have made that clear.

I thought that if I linked to something at such an awards ceremony, someone, somewhere might agree it was possible to be overdressed at a family wedding. Even if they didn't agree that that dress constituted over dressing, which is a separate question.

Are you also of the school of "wear whatever you like so long as you look fantastic in it"? I may just have to lie down and gently expire at the thought of the wasted hours I've spent clothes shopping for weddings.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 13/01/2017 16:31

I'm Tara- I'm sure all that makes sense in your head Grin

TaraCarter · 13/01/2017 16:36

Generous of you to say so. Still feel that one is socially obliged not to go for the ten out of ten, pulling-out-all-the-stops number at a family wedding, or in this case, an 8/10 dress. But now I've discovered that it's no-holds-barred, a whole new world opens up.

I think a cream ballgown should suit me wonderfully at the next wedding...

KissingAFool · 13/01/2017 16:37

Cara's an idiot.

NotYoda · 13/01/2017 16:40

She looks bloody awful. I feel sorry for her though. She lives in a world where very few women feel able to age without surgery. And once you start, I imagine it's impossible to stop.
