To be wary of all threads on Mumsnet now regarding Daily Mail?

I do appreciate this is an open forum and no one should be posting personal or identifying details as this can be read by the whole world.
But Daily Mail are now starting controversial threads with the sole intention of trying to start a bun fight and using the gleaned fodder.
The recent SAHM thread is a case in point.
First time poster, goady question, and bingo once the inevitable arguments start it appears in the DM within 24 hours.

And yet Mumsnet comes down on anyone troll accusing.
What;s the answer?

What's the proof that it's the Daily Wail?

I'm tempted to start a totally fictitious, juicy thread they fall for, wait till they publish, then pull the plug.

But I suppose that's against the rules ...

Daily Mail and other publications should NOT reproduce MN threads. The knowledge that they do this actually prevents me from posting certain things. I recently wanted to empathize with a poster who had a certain problem. I wanted to say I had had exactly the same issue. But I have written so many MN posts I could possibly be identified by someone who knows me. Quite possible if a whole thread with user names appears in a widely read daily newspaper. So I held back on this post and wrote nothing.

That's nothing new. Trolls have always started goady threads. You have no proof of it being the DM.

It all adds up though.

Why does everyone give so much of a fuck what the daily mail do or don't do? (Asude from their actual reporting which is heinous, im talking about regarding mumsnet). They aparently don't lift the threads which are sensitive or people are seeking support so really, who gives a shit if they report on threads where someone has a funny MIL problem or something? It's only an Internet forum and if you really care that much you should probably take a step back.

Which one ended up in the DM?

I've often wondered about this Mindtrope I've seen a lot of OPs on here and thought they can't be true and are clearly mining for information or to rile people up

Report the threads you believe not to be genuine.

I think the level of concern about the Daily Mail has become out of hand quite frankly.

Well if someone keeps elbowing you in the ribs it gets annoying sooty.

Saying "the level of concern about the rib-elbower is out of control" doesn't really address the nub of the problem,

It's doing double duty then, isn't it hobhob? Anyone who wants to grumble about the SAHM thread skulduggery, can, and anyone who wants to whinge about the moaning can do that too.

The answer is simple. If you don't want to see MN threads published in the Daily mail then stop reading the daily mail.

Never ceases to amaze me the amount of outrage over the Daily Mail from people who are quite clearly reading it.

And while I have absolutely no doubt that threads are started to provoke discussions, and yes, that IMO includes sensitive ones, this is still a public platform. You are no less likely to be identified here than in the DM, so if you don't want to be identified then don't post identifiable information on public websites.

But there have always been trolls and GF's here. The trolls' MO has changed slightly because on the whole people are suspicious, although I've seen ongoing threads which I've been about, but if you think it's a troll then just report and move on. And if it's a GF then do the same, certainly don't get involved in it....

I've seen a couple of threads on Loose Women but I presume because it's not the Daily Mail people on here think it's alright

Although the mirror and the independent must be rubbing their hands together as people are so busy reading the DM that they have overlooked the fact that the mirror and independent are apparently doing exactly the same.

If every poster on a thread has a daily mail piss take name they won't want to publish the names in thier paper...

The answer is simple. If you don't want to see MN threads published in the Daily mail then stop reading the daily mail.

Wanna, with respect, that's the daftest advice/brush off ive heard since "if you don't what the boys to chase you for kiss chase, stand still"

1. it isn't only the Daily Mail

2. they don't seem to want serious threads, more nonsense about expensive handbags on planes etc.

3. Google (others are available) make Mumsnet threads much more readily available than a newspaper ever will.

I often worry for people who worry about this. It strikes me as so ridiculously naive: they seem to think that MN is 'safe' until a thread becomes reported.

The daily mail aren't the only ones lifting threads. It's just evident that the daily mail is the most widely read site by MN users so it's those that are noticed more.

And some users.make themselves part of the problem by posting threads all ooh the daily mail have done it again here's a clicky link. People inevitably click on the link and the cycle continues.

As for journos starting threads... Nothing new as far as I'm concerned. If you have doubts then report the thread.

It's a public forum ffs, of course you should be wary of everything you post.
