to get upset at inappropriate thread titles

I've obviously made a huge error of judgement commenting on a thread full of hugely pregnant women and I apologise to them for that (pleading temporary insanity of disgusting icky cold)

however

I do hate seeing thread titles popping up all the time in active conversations (because they're ongoinng chats rather than jokes that fade away) that have sexual innuendo in the title .. just seems so uneccessarily childishly assinine

eg an ante natal thread entitled 'minty sperm or original' .. ach!

Awww leave poor HappyDaddy alone.....

He's getting a good bashing elsewhere at the moment.

Piffle · 22/02/2007 17:47

shit VVV you mean curry up there as well
I though sperm was the only contender...

hunkerdave · 22/02/2007 17:48

If blowjobbing your way to labour was so effective, labour wards would give oral prostaglandin, I'm sure.

Katy44 · 22/02/2007 17:50

Piffle

VeniVidiVickiQV · 22/02/2007 17:51

If blowjobbing was so effective, there would be more male midwives.....

VeniVidiVickiQV · 22/02/2007 17:51

"Oh mw, I'll do anything to make this baby come out now"

liath · 22/02/2007 17:52

misoprostol is an oral prostaglandin that can induce labour. Labour wards tend not to give it orally as it can cause an upset stomach.

Piffle · 22/02/2007 17:54

Hmmm although I think I'd rather suffer an induction than give a BJ at this late stage of pregnancy...
36 wks btw
Unless it was def raspberry flavoured (this wks craving)

EllieKwithaHUGEbump · 22/02/2007 17:54

i'm just well chuffed that we are attracting such class on a thread about our thread

seriously tho, am very glad it's got nice again

VeniVidiVickiQV · 22/02/2007 17:55

I should say so

VeniVidiVickiQV · 22/02/2007 17:56

Piffle - have you ever been overdue though?

Ellie, it is nice, yes, lets hope the sniping has all stopped now.

RedKennedy · 22/02/2007 18:19

TITS!

RedKennedy · 22/02/2007 18:19

sorry, im a bit late. it took me so long to read this thread, by the time I got to the top it was all over.

lulumama · 22/02/2007 18:44

"misoprostol is an oral prostaglandin that can induce labour. Labour wards tend not to give it orally as it can cause an upset stomach."

and, more importantly, was not trialled as a induction drug , it has been implicated in higher rates of foetal and maternal death and higher incidences of uterine rupture.....i think it has been withdrawn from usage in the states and never really caught on here...

thankfully

Piffle · 22/02/2007 18:52

yes VVV, with ds he was 13 days over, however I was single at the time and younger and lacking the wealth of support and knowledge that is the (sperm) bank on MN

VeniVidiVickiQV · 22/02/2007 19:18

piffle

I would have done anything to get DD to hurry on out. I only went into labour at the point of admission for an induction

Booboobedoo · 22/02/2007 19:21

Adrenalin's supposed to speed things along at a certain stage, isn't it?

Maybe I'll try bungee-jumping.

Don't feel quite ready yet, actually, but I'm not sure if I ever will...

I do look like a po-faced boiled egg, only with enormous norks.

Apologies for my earlier ranting. I've been reassured that sanity returns about 3 months after the birth. Is that true?

VeniVidiVickiQV · 22/02/2007 19:32

No, its not true.

Most of us actually get worse. Its just a myth to keep you going long enough to bond with your baby so that you dont feel you can give it up when you realise its just too late.

Booboobedoo · 22/02/2007 19:38

Oh Gawd.

divastropwantstodrop · 22/02/2007 19:51

sorry, booboo,it'll be 10 years in april since i conceived ds1 and my sanity has never returned

VVV-ah so thats why that heavily pregnant woman on that dodgey porn site i looked at in my last pregnancy was being spit-roasted

i think i'll stick to pleasant things such as fresh pineapple and rasberry leaf tea myself.

harpsichordcarrier · 22/02/2007 19:52

yes, adrenalin will help at second stage ie to push

AitchTwoOh · 22/02/2007 20:16

hi ediemccredie, re: terminology such as baby dancing, baby dust etc. i've had more than my fair share of disastrous pregnancies and i always found those terms embarrassing, as if supposedly when they'd taken me into hospital to take away my babies they'd also removed part of my brain.

so actually they had the opposite effect when i did try to conceive again, they made me feel like i'd have to behave like i was an idiot in order to be part of the ttc gang. not on this website, i should say.

so i wouldn't assume that the terminology is as universally popular among women trying to conceive after a baby loss, in fact some people find them dreadfully alienating.

i will allow EWCM, however, as lord knows mucous is not an attractive word under any circumstances.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 22/02/2007 20:20

Yep, may as well cover all entrances/exits.

AitchTwoOh · 22/02/2007 20:25

jaysus, and there was me trying to bring this thread back to some level of decency...
