to get upset at inappropriate thread titles

MrsGoranVisnjic · 22/02/2007 14:01

I've obviously made a huge error of judgement commenting on a thread full of hugely pregnant women and I apologise to them for that (pleading temporary insanity of disgusting icky cold)

however

I do hate seeing thread titles popping up all the time in active conversations (because they're ongoinng chats rather than jokes that fade away) that have sexual innuendo in the title .. just seems so uneccessarily childishly assinine

eg an ante natal thread entitled 'minty sperm or original' .. ach!

Am so confused - why has this thread turned from a slanging match into a love fest?

it upsets my stomach

it upsets my head with images I don't want at breakfast time or when I'm dealing with small children

no upset isn't too strong

and if that person says patronising one more time ....

Oh yes, I see - there is still some slinging and slanging going on!

I still can't understand why people are offended that other people are offended by the use of slightly dodgy words in titles?

[scratching head emoticon]

MegaLegs · 22/02/2007 15:48

Don't make me laugh - I am trying to be serious.

Tutter · 22/02/2007 15:48

MrsPG - i met you on holiday last year, you were very nice

Cashncarry · 22/02/2007 15:49

Stop being serious Megalegs. This is MN - the place we can forget about all the boring things in life and argue over spunk/sperm/semen/whatever

Molesworth · 22/02/2007 15:51

oh fuck it

you asked if you were being unreasonable mrsGV

yes you are

if you get upset over something so petty, lord only knows how you must suffer over the news

and you were patronising

get over yourself!

Eddas · 22/02/2007 15:52

Mrs G you are very patronising

AitchTwoOh, am 5 weeks away from my due date so sperm is coming nowhere near me whatever flavour

Tutter · 22/02/2007 15:52

lol at cod arrivign and upping the ante (natal thread baiting)

(did you see what i did there huh huh?)

MegaLegs · 22/02/2007 15:53

I've burnt the blardy cookies now.

MrsGoranVisnjic · 22/02/2007 15:54

MegaLegs · 22/02/2007 15:55

It's alright for cod, off for a massage, but 'as id sh' lost me.

I want a massage and don't look at my legs they are hairy.

hippmummy · 22/02/2007 15:56

Of course MrsGV, has a right to find whatever she wants innappropriate or offensive, and get upset - as we all do.

But bear in mind she did post it under 'am I being unreasonable?'
Obviously some people will feel she is.

Piffle · 22/02/2007 15:57

I'm astonished people get bent out of shape over thread titles on threads they have no need to go on.
Cringeworthy?
I was in awe that anyone could say sperm when pregnant without chundering. Respect thus...
and if February isn't a final countdown to giving birth in March?
Bizarre indeed...

MegaLegs · 22/02/2007 15:58

I've completely lost the thread now. Yes spunky title a bit bleurgh but being mean to AN ladies is mean. (and fly ladies, and TTCers and arts and crafters and Dr Who fans etc...)

AitchTwoOh · 22/02/2007 15:59

people don't need to click on the thread to cringe at the title.

hippmummy · 22/02/2007 16:06

Hi MrsGV
Didn't realise you were back - didn't intend to refer to you in 3rd person
Re my post of 15:14, do you feel the same about health threads.
Still feel I'm really not understanding where you are coming from on this.

lulumama · 22/02/2007 16:08

dont wanna be sensible, wanna be edgy and quirky and ...stuff !

but thanks tutter

Greensleeves · 22/02/2007 16:12

I have been sitting here sniggering helplessly at the thought of all these po-faced heavily pregnant women bristling with outrage, like a horde of angry boiled eggs on legs

I really must get out more.

boredwithwaitingforminiMOSSY · 22/02/2007 16:15

Well I've certainly learned my lesson! I am not going to try and be amusing ever again for fear of making anyone cringe and will entitle the next March thread simply, "Due in March 07. Some of us have had babies already and some of us haven't."

Now that would be po-faced!

(Although I admit do bear a strange resemblance to a boiled egg with legs!)

FiachraFrogakaDave · 22/02/2007 16:16

Okay, maybe the 9 months that have passed since I had DS2 have made me forget what I was like when pregnant, but I'm sure my friends and I didn't turn into a bunch of schoolgirls, whispering and plotting in a corner.....

lulumama · 22/02/2007 16:16

mossy

you are no longer a newbie! woo hoo! you have raised hackles and got cod;s attention !

mwah ! x
