to get upset at inappropriate thread titles

I've obviously made a huge error of judgement commenting on a thread full of hugely pregnant women and I apologise to them for that (pleading temporary insanity of disgusting icky cold)

however

I do hate seeing thread titles popping up all the time in active conversations (because they're ongoinng chats rather than jokes that fade away) that have sexual innuendo in the title .. just seems so uneccessarily childishly assinine

eg an ante natal thread entitled 'minty sperm or original' .. ach!

mossy i'd pmsl if i saw that as a thread title. [weird]

VeniVidiVickiQV · 22/02/2007 16:20

Goodness me! Quiet news-day on MN, is it?

Farking hell!

OP - you arent being unreasonable.

Although, it was a little unreasonable to start this persecutary thread. But, hey ho.

On your head an all that.

FWIW I agree with cod

boredwithwaitingforminiMOSSY · 22/02/2007 16:22

Lulumama (unless waving is naff too of course) OMG am I no longer a newbie?

It's happened, finally!!! I thought it wouldn't happen until I actually gave birth so I was officially a Mum (you know, "Mums" net and everything) but ... that's fantastic!

Makes up for my clearly rubbish soh!

AitchTwoOh · 22/02/2007 16:27

mossy

liath · 22/02/2007 16:29

Oh hell, I was trying to be outraged and then read the "hordes of boiled eggs on legs" comment. Laughed so hard I nearly broke my waters.

Can we steal it for our next thread title PLEASE????

Greensleeves · 22/02/2007 16:37

Be my guest

DH used to say I was "eggnant" rather than pregnant because I was so huge and rotund

Cashncarry · 22/02/2007 16:39

Greeny - do you realise your comments just brought peace love and harmony to this thread?

How very odd

VeniVidiVickiQV · 22/02/2007 16:40

Snotty...have you seen the pic of me on my profile.....? I'm looking distinctly 'eggnant' there....

Do you know what though...I bet Harpsi isnt enjoying all this 'egg' talk.

Katy44 · 22/02/2007 16:51

MrsGV, we don't start thread titles to offend anyone, and I'm sorry if this one has - we just want something more than Due in April...part 154.
The way you complained about it wasn't particularly constructive "its like being confronted by teenagers laughing about sex cos they're mildly embarrassed"
and since then you have been childish and patronising.
But then what would I know, I'm just a hormonal pregnant woman.
I just think if you had come onto the thread, and said "I find this thread title offensive, it keeps coming up in recent conversations, can you please start a new thread" this would never all have happened. Like anything, it's to do with the way you treat people.

hunkerdave · 22/02/2007 16:55

TeeCee, LOL at the school vicar calling someone spunky, but snorting with laughter at the thought of her calling someone a cunting vegetable in the same unknowing way

(Sorry )

Katy44 · 22/02/2007 17:00

You've all just reminded me of what I'm trying to think of when I look in the mirror these days!

MrsGoranVisnjic · 22/02/2007 17:03

I agree with some of the stuff on here but also wish to make the point that some of that terminology that you find cringe worthy (and that's fine) is very helpful/supportive for people who have difficulty conceiving or have experienced things like miscarriages. Not having a go but there is another side IYSWIM...

VeniVidiVickiQV · 22/02/2007 17:13

oh please explain what "drsh prawns" are.

Katy44 · 22/02/2007 17:14

And "part form celan the pit "? I can normally translate cod's posts but that one has me baffled!

EdieMcredie · 22/02/2007 17:14

fresh

EdieMcredie · 22/02/2007 17:15

apart from cleaning the pit

piglit · 22/02/2007 17:15

fresh prawns and clean the pit. I think.

divastropwantstodrop · 22/02/2007 17:18

mrsGV-i have a solution to your problem.when your lo's are up or you want to eat your breakfast-dont log onto MN!simple.

if my kids look over my shoulder when im on the pc i tell them not to be so nosey.i cant believe somebody would find sperm unacceptable when there are threads about anal sex and porn on relationships all the time.

BTW,i also though it was a reference to blow jobs bringing on labour.there was a thread about natural ways to start labour a while back and i read on a site (that was linked to on that thread)that the prostaglandins in sperm are absorbed better through the gut than through the cervix,so fellatio is a more effective method of bringing on labour.

enjoy your tea everybody

hunkerdave · 22/02/2007 17:19

Not amazingly impressed with the "about to give birth" card being played though.

I'm about to have a three year old - does nobody care any more?!

Thanks divastrop, I'll bear that in mind as I'm bound to be two weeks overdue.
