to get upset at inappropriate thread titles

I've obviously made a huge error of judgement commenting on a thread full of hugely pregnant women and I apologise to them for that (pleading temporary insanity of disgusting icky cold)

however

I do hate seeing thread titles popping up all the time in active conversations (because they're ongoinng chats rather than jokes that fade away) that have sexual innuendo in the title .. just seems so uneccessarily childishly assinine

eg an ante natal thread entitled 'minty sperm or original' .. ach!

That was meant to be lighthearted, but by that time I think I will be desperate enough to give birth to seriously consider it

i'll let you know if it works

hunkerdave · 22/02/2007 17:25

No, it's NOT true that oral sex works best - semen will be destroyed by stomach acid before it can have a change to work - why do you think hospitals give vaginal prostaglandin pessaries to induce you?

It's a myth I tell you, put about by men I'll warrant

piglit · 22/02/2007 17:25

Thanks for that. Coincidentally my old osteopath was German and she was brill.

Emmymummy · 22/02/2007 17:25

I forced myself to have sex when a week overdue with dd. Went into labour the next day. (thank God, as wasn't about to try that again).

Birdiebump · 22/02/2007 17:25

I'm a boiled egg.... I'm a boiled egg..... It's cool to be a boiled egg! Love and peace to all from the very pregnant April 07 thread!

Emmymummy · 22/02/2007 17:26

Have we all come over here now? (I said come, tee hee)

So Emmymummy, as this is my first, are you saying at the end I'll prefer to go through labour than have sex with my loving DH??
WHAT HAVE I DONE?

divastropwantstodrop · 22/02/2007 17:31

'About fellatio: Actually, it would probably be beneficial, if the idea is to get the labour started. A great OB in Hamilton (John Lamont, I believe) spoke to our class about sexuality and pregnancy. He mentioned the concept that prostaglandins are absorbed 10X more efficiently through the gut than through the vaginal mucosa, with respect to semen and labour onset.'

Emmymummy · 22/02/2007 17:32

Tried that too. Gave me terrible indigestion.

Greensleeves · 22/02/2007 17:32

agree about the curry, so stylish to go into labour with the raging squits

Katy44 · 22/02/2007 17:32

What's the story with castor oil? I have heard very good and very bad things about it?

Emmymummy · 22/02/2007 17:32

Curry that is, not fellatio!

lulumama · 22/02/2007 17:34

re castor oil...see greeny;s post re effect of curry!

natural and safe induction tips here!

sex and orgasm can help ripen the cervix and bring on labour, and nipple stimulation can help strengthen contractions....

Emmymummy · 22/02/2007 17:34

Katy, it just becomes a chore to get through by 41 weeks, beleive me!

Piffle · 22/02/2007 17:40

agree re the curry thing
From 29 wks it has given me heartburn which due to my fortunate fast easy labours both previous times, I find heartburn lasts longer, is hard to get rid of and is more painful than birth...

Piffle · 22/02/2007 17:40

oh emmy mum have you got an Emmy?

VeniVidiVickiQV · 22/02/2007 17:43

Diva - surely if the gut absorbs it better, then it would be most effective if you took it up the arse?

VeniVidiVickiQV · 22/02/2007 17:44

ROFL at emmy.

Piffle · 22/02/2007 17:44

well that would make on hell of an ante natal thread title

Due in April - who's taking it up the chuffer to start labour

VeniVidiVickiQV · 22/02/2007 17:45

Due April 07 - Back Passage to India

EllieKwithaHUGEbump · 22/02/2007 17:46

well, i must say i was dreading getting back from the college run, but i am now ROFL

April ladies, you do realise that completely unintentionally we have attracted the attention of most other MumsNetters!

just needs HappyDaddy to give his comments now ............

Greensleeves · 22/02/2007 17:47

lul, "eggnant" was the tip of the iceberg. He spent the whole pregnancy making fattist jokes as I burgeoned to comedy proportions. At one point, just before ds1 was born, I was singing One Two Buckle My Shoe to the bump (yes, yes, I know, PFB) and when I got to "nine, ten, a good fat hen" DH said "You ARE a good fat hen" and nearly fell over laughing.
