Today I recieved a parcel from a nc relative who doesn't seem to have quite got the message. Every year I get a passive aggressive christmas card which I duly ignore. Now I have a box. I've been informed by another relative it's a birthday gift. Do I open it? Send it back? Confused

Yup, a lot of milking going on here....

RebelRogue · 05/01/2017 21:57

Just read all that and still no inside of the box!!

Open box.
Wrap box back up
Put in bin and send picture to intermediary relative.
Point made to everyone

Booshbeesh · 05/01/2017 21:58

Skimmed through every page just to see if youve opened it. Disappointed*

DesolateWaist · 05/01/2017 21:59

blahblahblahblahblah

Just open the damn box.

PelvicFloorClenchReminder · 05/01/2017 22:01

It's obviously every single letter 'x' cut out of each carefully saved copy of the Barnsley Chronicle since August 2nd 1976. Just the 'x's.

Go on, open it. You'll see.

LexieLulu · 05/01/2017 22:03

10pm and you have still not opened it? Wow I'm impressed! Smile

ThatsWotSheSaid · 05/01/2017 22:04

Put in straight in the bin (or open it if you really want) just don't think about it anymore. This is exactly what they were trying to do, get in to your head. Do not text or have any other contact.

frauleinsallybowles · 05/01/2017 22:04

open it op

WaitrosePigeon · 05/01/2017 22:05

Have you had enough attention yet?

Benedikte2 · 05/01/2017 22:05

It may not be a gift. Might be something deceased wanted you to have or maybe something of yours they found in the attic

InterchangeableEmma · 05/01/2017 22:05

A note as in written notification of NC and intention to destroy any further communications without reading or acknowledgment is OK, I feel. Once and only once.

A note as in anything that could be considered a thank you note, or other politeness forced interaction, no.

Foxysoxy01 · 05/01/2017 22:06

After hearing the reason of nc I do wonder if it is better to not open and send straight back.
Although it really depends on the extent of the EA and if you want to think about reinstating some sort of relationship.
If you definitely want to stay nc dont open, send back and don't play their games.

InterchangeableEmma · 05/01/2017 22:08
. Insatiable goats the lot of you.
Anonymous1112 · 05/01/2017 22:08

Attention seeking of the highest order, do what you like.

GeezAJammyPeece · 05/01/2017 22:09

I understand that the recent passing means you may wonder/worry that the contents may be of sentimental value. Does the intermediary know what the contents are?
Are you comfortable asking them?

If it turns out to be something like this, would you wish to keep the parcel (unopened, if that sits easier with you)?

QueenMortifauxcado:
Intermediary relative knows

You are NC due to EA, and do not wish to reinstate contact. Do not open parcel just for the sake of it. If you are comfortable asking intermediary to return on your behalf and requesting no further contact; postal or otherwise; then do so.

DO NOT open it ( and ultimately yourself to them thinking this is an acceptable channel of communication ) just to date our curiosity.

PovertyPain · 05/01/2017 22:09

Starting to feel like a fool now.

dowhatnow · 05/01/2017 22:10

Bloody hell - still not opened.

GeezAJammyPeece · 05/01/2017 22:10

Date = date

*Stupid phone keyboard

KanyeWesticle · 05/01/2017 22:11

Open it. Intermediary doesn't need to be told you opened it.

GeezAJammyPeece · 05/01/2017 22:12

Is this one of those threads where the OP comes back claiming that 'something cropped up' and then they'll be amazed to see all of the replies whilst actually sitting there refreshing the page every 30 seconds?

Whatever, I'm bored of it now. Enjoy your evening OP.

EweAreHere · 05/01/2017 22:12

Send it back unopened.

You don't want to get sucked back in to their game.

Even though we all want to know what they picked out and sent.

MadeForThis · 05/01/2017 22:15

Open it. But don't acknowledge it. Stay nc. Donate to charity.

BigApple11 · 05/01/2017 22:15

Is this still going on?
Maybe the box is full of cheque books.
Or BiscuitBiscuitBiscuit

FeelingSmurfy · 05/01/2017 22:17

They are winning either way because they are getting inside your head. Make a decision before you go to bed and stick with it, don't lie awake thinking about it.

I would hand it unopened to relative you do speak to and ask them to pass it on, and warn that anything else that is sent will go straight in the bin, this is the first and final warning so please pass it on
