AIBU to present you with a mystery box and not open it?

Today I recieved a parcel from a nc relative who doesn't seem to have quite got the message. Every year I get a passive aggressive christmas card which I duly ignore. Now I have a box. I've been informed by another relative it's a birthday gift. Do I open it? Send it back? Confused

Similar thing happened to me at Christmas. I opened it (chocs and toiletries) and gave them away. Haven't responded in any other way as that just opens a dialogue. Unfortunately, there is no other relative still in contact I can inform, so will just have to wait until the NC relative gets fed up.

My cousin had this happen with an ex bf. She opened it (OPEN IT!) and then sent it back to his parents.

Then bin if it's personal or donate to charity to auction or give to charity shop. Someone will like it and charity get money for it.

No matter what it is, you don't have to contact them ever again. Doesn't matter if they think you rude not to acknowledge it - you aren't going to speak to them so their opinions about anything really are irrelevant.

Hold it up to the light. See if you can get an idea of what's inside.
