AIBU to present you with a mystery box and not open it?

Today I recieved a parcel from a nc relative who doesn't seem to have quite got the message. Every year I get a passive aggressive christmas card which I duly ignore. Now I have a box. I've been informed by another relative it's a birthday gift. Do I open it? Send it back? Confused

Now worried the parcel is unwrapping itself though the sheer force of your will mumsnet Confused just went to make tea and saw the corner is poking out. Might have been the cat though

Considering that you must be NC for a good reason and 'other relative' is poised to report back to NC relative, I really do think you'd be unwise to open it. That's accepting it it which is accepting contact, even if you don't keep it. Well, unless you're willing to have it seen as accepting contact and have to actively enforce NC again.

I mean, I'm desperate to know what's inside. It's not a game though, is it?

Like I said before, I think you should give it to 'other relative' to deal with.
