To never let my children eat roast chicken skin

So that I get it all to myself to scoff in the kitchen whilst carving the chicken? Crispy, juicy, amazing stuff. Not sure the kids even realise the chicken comes with a skin.......

😱

Fitzbilly when you present the divorce papers I trust 'desecration of delicious chicken skin' will be emblazoned across the top in bright red, size 18 font.

The deviants.

PiggyPlumPie · 04/01/2017 18:46

Definitely NBU! Has to be scoffed as soon as it comes out of the oven.

PetShopGirl · 04/01/2017 18:48

I see your chicken skin, and I raise you..... DUCK SKIN

ThisMorningWentBadly · 04/01/2017 18:48

I share the skin but the chicken oysters are all mine!

BubbleFairy · 04/01/2017 18:52

Oh petshop, definitely. Salty duck skin. Also love a bit of a crispy salmon skin too.

My daughter didn't want hers this evening, more for me.

aintnothinbutagstring · 04/01/2017 18:54

YANBU, love chicken skin.

PyongyangKipperbang · 04/01/2017 18:55

In our house if you want breast meat then you sacrifice the skin as that will already have been scoffed by me. However, if you want a thigh or a drumstick then you get skin. Oddly enough, I hardly ever eat meat but I go nuts for chicken skin and (fresh) crackling!

aintnothinbutagstring · 04/01/2017 18:56

Partial to a bit of crispy lamb skin too, also don't mind crispy fish skin (must be a complete weirdo).

EweAreHere · 04/01/2017 18:56

hahahaha

We had chicken tonight; the children competed for any remaining remnant of chicken skin off daddy's plate.

SisyphusDad · 04/01/2017 18:58

Never mind the skin, what about the uber-crispy bacon that you used to cover the breast. All the fat has melted out, so it's not unhealthy. Is it?

MitzyLeFrouf · 04/01/2017 18:58

I only recently learned that the word 'schmaltz' was originally a Yiddish word for chicken fat.

NotAPuffin · 04/01/2017 18:59

I was 23 before I knew of the existence of the pope's nose. I learned about it from my in-laws. My father had scoffed hundreds of them over the years without telling us, the fecker.

EggysMom · 04/01/2017 18:59

Fresh, hot, crispy chicken skin is the perk of the cook / carver Smile

MitzyLeFrouf · 04/01/2017 18:59

Schmaltz makes my taste buds go all schmaltzy.

CattyMcCatface · 04/01/2017 19:01

Oh this has thread has made me laugh, thank you!
My sister and I stripped our Sunday roast chicken of its skin once (we were only about 8 or 9) and our mum was very cross with us! I couldn't understand it, it was only the skin we pinched. Poor roast chicken sitting there all naked. I don't eat it any more, haven't for years, I give it to my cats! I might try it again now though!

AcrossthePond55 · 04/01/2017 19:01

Cook's prerogative, along with the Pope's Nose of a turkey and the end pieces of a Prime Rib.

Tatlerer · 04/01/2017 19:02

Fitzbilly I too have in-laws who don't eat chicken skin. In fact MIL always cooks a whole chicken by popping it in a bag and microwaving it. Yep, the whole thing. So obviously, the chicken doesn't crisp up and the skin ends up getting removed in a soggy, flaccid mess. The bright side of this is that having been raised this way, DH doesn't eat the skin either, so all the more for me, hurrah!

Katedotness1963 · 04/01/2017 19:03

Is the pope's nose another name for the parson's nose? That's edible??

CigarsofthePharoahs · 04/01/2017 19:03

I am very lucky. Nobody else in my family likes chicken skin.
I do. I love it and I get it all to myself!
Duck skin is ambrosia! Lovely! Last time we had duck I saw DH picking his off so I snaffled it. Mmmmmmmmmmm
He doesn't like crackling either. He's weird, but it means all the more for me!
My mum and I have been known to fight over the crispy bacon on top of the roast chicken.

MitzyLeFrouf · 04/01/2017 19:03

SHE MICROWAVES A WHOLE CHICKEN?!?

MTWTFSS · 04/01/2017 19:05

DS2 eats all our chicken skin :( Used to be mine, but he loves it so much I let him have it!

BubbleFairy · 04/01/2017 19:05

He do you microwave a whole chicken?!

Tonight's I confess was an aldi roast in the bag. But the bag got removed twenty minutes before the end for the crispy bits.

and the kids went for seconds of meat which never happens so I'll buy it again!

I love it but feed it to the dog to stop me eating it.
