To not let my 5 year old daughter share a room with a male friend

My partner and I disagree and I don't know if I am being over cautious. We are normally a fairly easy going family but when talking to my partner about one of my daughters friends coming round for a sleepover we disagreed

I didn't think it right that a male friend shares a room with my 5 year old daughter but my partner says that if they are in different beds it's ok and that they are too young to think anything of it.

Am I being over protective?

Yabvu what do you think they will do, jump on each other and have sex Hmm, they are 5 not 15!

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 04/01/2017 17:56

I think you might be being a bit over protective - sorry.

I think that the worst that will happen is that they will stay awake late into the night giggling and messing around.

How old is the friend?

WriterNeedsHelp2017 · 04/01/2017 17:57

A male adult friend or a five year old boy?

Gallavich · 04/01/2017 17:57

Two 5 year olds?
I honestly hope you have medically diagnosed anxiety issues because if not.....I can't say what I think as I'd get deleted

Shallishanti · 04/01/2017 17:58

YABU!
maybe have a think about why this worries you so much?

Yika · 04/01/2017 17:58

Totally no problem for them to share a room.

IfartInYourGeneralDirection · 04/01/2017 18:00

What do you think will happen exactly?

bigredboat · 04/01/2017 18:00

Is the male 5 too? If so then yes you are being a bit OTT!

Ilovecaindingle · 04/01/2017 18:00

My 16 year old ds has mostly female friends and has managed to keep his hands off every one of them over the years. I am sure a 5 year old is safe to enjoy sharing a room with a friend!!

SparkleShinyGlitter · 04/01/2017 18:01

I think 2 5 year old children sharing a bedroom is absouletly fine! I find it strange that anyone would think differently

If they are both 5, you are being slightly bonkers!

WellErrr · 04/01/2017 18:01

Unless your daughters friend is 20 YABU.

And a bit odd!

Qwertie · 04/01/2017 18:02

Do you mean a child? My DD & DS share a room.

YABU!!

BusterGonad · 04/01/2017 18:03

Op you are very twisted to think this is strange!

Floggingmolly · 04/01/2017 18:03

Is the make friend also 5?? Your thread title is a bit sensationalist; it reads deliberately? as though the friend is an adult friend of yours, not your dd's.
If he is 5, you're being ridiculous.

ConvincingLiar · 04/01/2017 18:03

Two small children would be fine, although they might not sleep much.

LumelaMme · 04/01/2017 18:04

Five year olds sharing is not a problem.

As PPs have said, your biggest problem is likely to be the jumping about and shrieking at midnight.

MuseumOfCurry · 04/01/2017 18:07

Why are you describing a boy as a male?

You're being ridiculous.

INeedToEat · 04/01/2017 18:07

My son only had girl 'friends' when he was growing up. He has always shared bedrooms with them... and sometimes beds.

YABrathersilly.

Branleuse · 04/01/2017 18:08

youre being very weird. Theyre 5, not 15
