Lyrically, musically or any other reason.

I can't stand Spandau Ballet's "True" - there I've said it. I'm out and proud.

"Why do I find it so hard to write the next line?" - perhaps because it's a fucking shite song Tony and it makes no sense at all!

Spinning around by kylie! She needs to spin the fuck off
Love shack
Anything by Mariah

InTheKitchenAtParties · 01/01/2017 00:19

I can't believe no one mentioned Coldplay yet!

Has anyone mentioned Coldplay yet???

onemorecupofcoffeefortheroad · 01/01/2017 00:21

New York New York
And
Spirit in the Sky

Why... just why?

dawnmist · 01/01/2017 00:25

i agree about Kylie, she just can't sing. Her voice is tinny and nasally.

Pluto30 · 01/01/2017 00:32

But have to disagree about Fairytale of New York! It's a brilliant song. There's a reason why it's the most popular Christmas song.

Agree. My favourite Christmas song.

twinklylights · 01/01/2017 00:37

Anything by Adele, Ed Sherman, Radiohead, R.E.M. but most of all Coldplay. We rechristened Paradise to Parasite!

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 01/01/2017 01:09

How the heck could anyone not like Abba?

I really hate Fairground by Simply Red. I cringe every time I hear it.

A huge thanks to whoever mentioned Life by Des'ree. The most awful lyrics ever. I'd actually forgot until I saw your post but I now have it stuck in my head...

'I don't want to see a ghost, it's the sight that I fear most, rather have a piece of toast (WTF?!) ,watch the evening news...'

MrsMoggy · 01/01/2017 01:11

I will always love you. Hate it

WanderingNotLost · 01/01/2017 01:24

How Long Will I Love You by Ellie Goulding.

And anything else by Ellie Goulding.

salsmum · 01/01/2017 01:50

Most songs by the Beatles or Ramstien yuck

Graphista · 01/01/2017 01:55

"The song "Clare" by Gilbert O'Sullivan (showing my age here but they still play it occasionally on Radio 2). It's so incredibly inappropriate...unless I've been misunderstanding the lyrics all these years."

I give you Clare and I raise you...

Brotherhood of man 'save your kisses' 'save them all for me even though you're only three' Hmm

Haha written before I read this

"I've never liked songs with a twist ending since Brotherhood of Man won Eurovision with theirs!"

Anything by Michael Jackson, even before the rumours I never understood the reverence. Squeaky voiced mediocrity.

Beyoncé - every song sounds the same and not good.

Almost any cover version though I do prefer joe cocker's with a little help from my friends and guns n roses live n let die to the originals.

Just as a point of order 'stop the cavalry' was not originally intended as a Christmas song, it was the record company pushed it that way

I can't remember last I heard a new song I LIKED getting too old for this shite

A lot of the songs mentioned are my FAVOURITES Blush

As mentioned by a few pp music can be so emotional. Certain songs are perfectly OK songs to my musical taste but i can't listen to them because of sad events or people I've lost they remind me of.

TheTartOfAsgard · 01/01/2017 02:01

I worked in a karaoke bar between 1997 and 2002 so I actually hate EVERY top 40 song that was released between those dates.

Also have a hatred of any song with a woman's name in them - sweet Caroline, Diana, mambo number 5, that one that goes 'Jennifer Alison Phillipa sue'

Special mention goes to 'things can only get better' by D:ream, that song makes me want to sick up my soul.

Simonneilsbeard · 01/01/2017 02:03

Missing by everything but the girl is really the only song I will actually go out of my way to turn off..I hate it.
Anything by the beautiful south.

ILikeThatSong123 · 01/01/2017 02:15

"We are family, I've got all my sisters with me" rubbish lyrics, boak.
Umbrella, Ella, Ella Ella....rubbish.
American pie is another rubbish that give s me the rage.
There is a new song, not sure who sings, it goes like ... Blah, blah blah.. it hurts, in the most self -pitying voice, rage-inducing, pathetic little piece.
There are more but I cant remember.

ILikeThatSong123 · 01/01/2017 02:21

Ah, also agree with wnaderingnotlost anything by Ellie Goulding.

Also Simply Red.

Also M-People.
Also Beyonce, especially single ladies rubbish.

ILikeThatSong123 · 01/01/2017 02:35

Do they know its Christmas. Patronising crap."It's Christmas day, there's no need to be afraid" What a crap.
All Kate Melua.
All James Blunt
All Bjork.
Almost all Ryhanna
All hip-hop
American Boy

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 01/01/2017 02:51

Anything (c)rap. Rihanna. Jess Glynne makes me want to stuff cheese inside my ears like in Allo Allo.

Although Wet Wet Wet are one of my favourite ever bands, I dislike Love Is All Around.

Special mentions to:
Anything by Mariah Carey
That bloody Bieber song Sorry
Westlife's back catalogue

MummyIsAFreeElf · 01/01/2017 04:07

Anything by Bon Jovi!!!
Eiffel 65 - blue
My Heart Will Go On from Titanic! Instant rage!!!!
Sam Smith, Adele, Rihanna, Beyoncé, Mariah, one direction, little mix or any one else that's spawned off X factor
I Just Can't Get Enough (dunno who sings it)
Dido, James Blunt, Muse (would be a fantastic band if they didn't have that yappy git as a singer) the crazy frog or gummy bear song
i hate a lot of other stuff but that's as much as I can think of off the top of my head

Spermysextowel · 01/01/2017 04:47

I like Mowtown but loathe Diana Ross Upside Down & My Old piano with a passion.

Spermysextowel · 01/01/2017 04:49

And I'll turn off the radio for Oasis & bloody Jamiroqui.

GilMartin · 01/01/2017 05:06

spermy I agree, despite being a fan of 60s soul music, I don't like Diana Ross's voice at all , it has a thin, syrupy quality to it. Both of my favourite Supremes records were recorded after she left.

Symmplythebest · 01/01/2017 05:53

Chain frigging reaction

Spermysextowel · 01/01/2017 06:06

Thank you for reminding me of that abomination. It'll take days to get it out of my head!

Spermysextowel · 01/01/2017 06:21

Charlene has made it onto someone's loathe list but when I had a Saturday job at a Tesco & was let loose on the record counter to cover lunch I played it so many times. Was a surprise to learn recently that whoring was in the lyrics.

MangosteenSoda · 01/01/2017 06:41

The Mariah Carey Christmas song enrages me. So it's always a tough build up to Christmas. I also hate Christmas films. Bad Santa is the only one I can tolerate. I must be a grinch.
