My DH has just come back from the shops with 14 sprouts

He was shopping for New Year's Day dinner while I did the housework. There will be 7 of us for dinner, all adults. We are having steak with pepper sauce and steak pie. He bought four sachets of pepper sauce and 14 sprouts. When I asked why he only bought 14 sprouts his answer was "who eats more than 2 sprouts?" If you were going somewhere for dinner would you not expect to at least have the option of having half a dozen?

My DH would do this too. Once asked him to pick up some potatoes for our tea and he came back with 3 new potatoes. 3!

Sprouts with steak is disgusting.

Chop the sprouts up and fry with butter and bacon and they'll go a lot further. Delicious!

Nothing wrong with sprouts with steak pie, theyre just a veg, DS whos 14 loves them so I serve them with anything this time of year for him!

A serving of sprouts is 1C per the USDA. Unless they're really big sprouts, he's underestimated a bit. I'm surprised you can buy individual sprouts, actually.

I always cook bacon, then roast the sprouts in the bacon grease, and add the crumbled bacon back in at the end. I also sometimes at walnuts and/or blue cheese.

Asparagus is really the best vegetable with steak, asking with smashed potatoes.

Am I the only one to think "meat and two veg" at OP's menu?

Suggest adding an artfully arraged carrot baton on top of some mash...

I buy more than that for me, DH, DS1 and MIL! DS2 doesn't eat them so he doesn't need any.

Sprouts are wrong, barely acceptable cooked with bacon on Christmas Day.
I'm surprised suspicious that so many people claim to like them!!

An ex of mine called me at work to say he was doing the shopping from the list i had given him and this was the third shop he'd been in and no one knew what man get out was, even tho he had asked loads of people. It took me a while to realise what he was referring to on the list. Then it took me ages to stop gasping with laughter to tell him it was mange tout.

Sprouts are great, they go with everything!

Sprouts and chips is a particular favourite as is sprouts and eggs! Sprouts and steak/pie sounds just dandy to me.

And 14 is my portion, dont know what the rest of you would be having!

I think having only 14 sprouts is the least of your issues.
Steak with steak pie as well ? With sprouts, 14 or otherwise, is bizarre!

My major problem with sprouts is making sure enough get to the pan - both me and DS eat them raw (and cooked and any cold leftover sprouts...). 14 sprouts wouldn't come close to meeting our sprout requirements.

Slice them uber thinly and call them "micro vegetables"

I'd send him to the nearest 24 hour supermarket and tell him to do it properly.

14 sprouts would last me the next 50 yrs! Not eating sprouts is the only resolution I keep all year.
