Christmas is ruined!

For Christmas my 2 year old is having a Peppa Pig scooter. Last night I asked DH to put it together, which he did. Excellent. Feeling very smug and organised. I hid the scooter away and thought he'd put the box out in the bin but he put it in the utility room. I didn't realise this and just went out there, followed by my 4 year old. Immediately she spots the box and starts asking about it and wanting to look at it. I told her it was nothing and ushered her out the room, she kept trying to get back in so I ended up getting really cross and sent her to her room. Yes I know not exactly top parenting by me, but I panicked!
She's really inquisitive and remembers everything! I just know as soon as her sister unwraps the scooter she's going to make a comment about that being what she saw. I'm absolutely devastated and feel like at 4 when it should be the most magical it's ruined for her.
DH is now in a strop as I asked him why on earth he left it there on full display.

I don't know if I'm one of the "utter cunts" or not- probably. I do think the OP over reacted to something trivial.

On the whole "magic of Santa" stuff I would far rather my 5/6/7/8 year old child had spotted the obvious flaws in the story and had developed some empathy for the children Santa obviously doesn't care about than they play along with a lie in case the present count diminishes.

Indeed. Like many posts that are deleted, the content obviously breaches guidelines, it doesn't speak to validity.

If you identify with the phrase "utter cunt" then yh I guess I am on about you, some of you were saying she can't et upset because people are dying.. I mean WTF no one can be upset or think something is ruined because something that isn't relevant to them has happened to someone they don't know and they weren't to know about, do one lol my daughter was in hospital for her first 8 months of life including over Christmas never knowing if she would be alive or not even after her transplant but I still got upset my tree wasn't straight or I didn't hide a present properly etc but maybe I'm being dramatic because my child hadn't died yet 🙄

She's still alive by the way and I've had an amazing Christmas with her but hang me now because I also uttered the words Christmas was ruined due to my eldest finding a present, but hey I can't be being stupid or ridiculous because I have also experienced a worse Christmas than this one.
