I really don't understand your posts, I'm agreeing with you Confused

JustAnotherPoster00 · 18/12/2016 10:08

So because its not for the same reason as circumcision you feel that circumcision is more valid?

So wouldnt it make more sense to try and change that and not some mother that wants her baby in a pink sparkly headband?

JustAnotherPoster00 · 18/12/2016 10:09

all rapists are menHmm

You sure? Women dont rape ever?

The this thing is more important so why do the little things when worse things are happening argument.

Lweji · 18/12/2016 10:10

Women dont rape ever?

As defined by UK law, women can't rape. They can sexually assault.

user1482025636 · 18/12/2016 10:11

It depends what you mean by rape. Are women who abuse their children by inserting digits or objects into them not raping them? Maybe not technically but it's no less worse.

I agree more men do rape and abuse, because they have more power to do so. Unquestionably. But what is the answer to that? What will have to happen in order for them to stop doing that?

And what outcome do you want? Do you want a world in which men and women have equal power to abuse, so it's divided up 50/50 - or a world in which no one abuses?

PacificDogwod · 18/12/2016 10:11

Just, you are kidding, aren't you? Grin
Don't make yourself look dense, it's not becoming.

GloriaGaynor · 18/12/2016 10:13

Yeah I've def had my eyes opened. I can 100% say I am NOT a feminist grin

The only reason that you have a job in a male-dominated environment is because of feminism. Women literally died for your right to do that job. Not only are you not grateful, you're apparently ignorant of history.

Even 40 years ago, that job may not have been open to you simply because you're female.

If you're not a feminist, then hand back your education, your right to vote, to work, to equal pay, even to drive. Alternatively try living in Saudi Arabia and see how un-feminist you are then.

InfiniteCurve · 18/12/2016 10:14

"What are feminists going to do about rape exactly? That could involve addressing the sexual exploitation of women and the raising of boys to see women as sex objects. Why don't they go and campaign for regulation of the porn industry which exploits and harms vulnerable women all over the world then? Why don't you ever see that? "
Silly me,I thought feminists were campaigning for this - it at least some branches of feminism.
What are feminists going to do about rape exactly is the first line here that's made me lol.Well, all of the above, address attitudes to women, bring my son up to see women as equal human beings and not sex objects ( tick),knowing that consent isn't optional and what consent is (tick),to be prepared to challenge other people on their attitudes (also tick Grin)

What are non feminists going to do about rape?

FizzBombBathTime · 18/12/2016 10:14

Op what the FUCK are you doing on the Internet? Get back in the kitchen

😇

Lweji · 18/12/2016 10:14

The small stuff...

Yes, we, in the west, may be in the last phases of the struggle for equality. But we're very far from equality and what remains is mostly the small stuff, that all together become a big thing.

If there were truly equal opportunities the outcomes would be more equal.

JustAnotherPoster00 · 18/12/2016 10:15

I didnt know that Lweji and I find that ridiculous.

Pacificdogwod derailing 101 cant say anything bout what I had to say so personal insult and I'm not becoming? Hmm

PacificDogwod · 18/12/2016 10:15

IME Feminism is a broad church.

user1482025636 · 18/12/2016 10:15

They're really not campaigning for it though infinite - or very few of them.

iamadaftcoo · 18/12/2016 10:15

So wouldnt it make more sense to try and change that and not some mother that wants her baby in a pink sparkly headband?

It is possible to do both, for the 100th time.

PacificDogwod · 18/12/2016 10:16

Not all men are rapists but all rapists are men. Not all men sexually assault people but 98% of sexual assaults are perpetrated by men. Not all men abuse their partners but the majority of domestic abuse is carried out by men.

This bears repeating as posted by Dame upthread.

The charge is actually 'sexual assault by penetration' and is an equally serious crime as rape.

user1482025636 · 18/12/2016 10:19

I think the legal technicalities are beside the point. Whatever you're inserting into someone's orifice without their consent, it is all equally vile.

JustAnotherPoster00 · 18/12/2016 10:21

Having anything in you without consent is rape IMO no matter what gender you are, define too

I hate all people equally regardless of skin colour, gender or creed if any 1 was wondering I dont believe in this new definition of feminism (men hating) and like I said upthread 1st wave and 2nd wave feminism I dont disagree with at all

VeryBitchyRestingFace · 18/12/2016 10:21

As defined by UK law, women can't rape. They can sexually assault.

I'm not sure that's true, in Scotland at least.

Am thinking of a recent case involving allegations of a historical nature.

On conviction, judge told defendent that if the offences had been commited after x date, they would have been classed as rape.

Offence involved manual penetration of victim, not PiV. And obviously, anyone, male or female, can insert fingers/hands into a victim.

Xpost with pp.

Assault by penetration is simply the legal term. If a man or woman were penetrated by object by another man or woman (I sound like John Cleese) we would describe that as rape. It's simply that the charge that is different.
