to think there's too much sex on Netflix?

Not to be too puritanical... Part of the reason I got the subscription was so my ageing dad would have something decent to watch over Christmas!

The Medicis is the latest offender. I want to watch an interesting series with the family, without being subjected to intermittent scenes featuring Florentine whores getting rid, to put it bluntly.

Can they not at least have a "parent-friendly" button to avoid uncomfortable scenes?? I've nothing against a good sex scene when relevant to the story but it just seems totally gratuitous most of the time.

OP posts:

You do know they show the rating and a brief description before you watch it?

Gardencentregroupie · 16/12/2016 19:48

There's no sex on my Netflix, but Then my playlist is Thomas and Friends, various Thomas specials, and Peppa Pig.

Ladyformation · 16/12/2016 19:48

You watched a show about the Medicis and didn't expect sex scenes? And don't think that sex was relevant to the story of that particular family?

YABU, I'm afraid.

motherinferior · 16/12/2016 19:50

Why does your dad have to be protected from sex scenes?

gabsdot · 16/12/2016 19:51

I agree, There is a way to have a kids only option and you can password protect the adult shows.

Hellmouth · 16/12/2016 19:51

Netflix displays the rating and description of shows. Also, you can set up profiles for kids /kid friendly viewing.

Basically, you need to police yourself, like a grown up

KidLorneRoll · 16/12/2016 19:52

Why on earth would "parent-friendly" mean no sex?

You do realise your dad did actually have sex with your mum, do you?

TheNaze73 · 16/12/2016 19:57
Biscuit

I think this is a wind up

tametempo · 16/12/2016 20:05

I get where OP is coming from. Much of the time sex scenes are so gratuitous. I'm not a prude but I would sometimes like to watch things with teenage DC without the unnecessary cringe.

steff13 · 16/12/2016 20:09

There are literally thousands of shows on Netflix. Plenty of them don't have a lot of sex. Sherlock, Luther, Glee, Parks and Rec, The Office, The Walking Dead, all sorts of genres.

DoYouRememberJustinBobby · 16/12/2016 20:12

Parent friendly? Haha wind your neck in.

Baileysbug2016 · 16/12/2016 20:19

Hmmif there's anything that should definitely have plenty of sex it's the Medicis. There are numerous family and even children friendly series/movies on Netflix .

thefrizzyhairedcommunity · 16/12/2016 20:22

"Parent friendly" aye right

LeadPipe · 16/12/2016 20:25

But the parental cringe of a sex scene with teens around is practically a right of passage.

Dawndonnaagain · 16/12/2016 20:26

Oh good grief!

IneedAqueenMortificadoNickname · 16/12/2016 20:28

I've only recently got netflix but have watched quite a few things on there. Haven't seen any sex yet. Must be watching the wrong shows Grin

UnbornMortificado · 16/12/2016 20:30

DH keeps watching some gladiator shite for the storyline obviously not the soft porn Hmm

Gowgirl · 16/12/2016 20:31

Try game of thrones indeed a queen...

Badcat666 · 16/12/2016 20:32

ohhh! I have Netflix! will have to look up that. Do we get to see willies??!! (I am SUCH a child)

Also as other ppl have mentioned, there's a kids friendly button you can click on if you are worried about your dad seeing someone faking the horizontal tango.

Oh just checked Netflix and it's rated a 15 and for the UK that means it is intended for adults which normally means you have to be mature enough to handle some rumpy bumpy

MrsMattBomer · 16/12/2016 20:38

Is it frontal nudity? I'm asking for a friend...

Badcat666 · 16/12/2016 21:09

Anyone know about the frontal nudity? Because MrsMatt and I have friends that need to know...

Obsidian77 · 16/12/2016 21:11

I thought that was the whole point of Netflix [unhelpful]

Madeyemoodysmum · 16/12/2016 21:42

Try stranger things. No sex and bloody awesome. Best thing I've seen all year.

IneedAqueenMortificadoNickname · 16/12/2016 21:45

GowGirl thanks for the recommendation but unless they have a series that hasn't been released yet I've seen them all Grin
Actually a lot of things I watch seem to have sex scenes in just not any of the things ibe seen on nf. Oh I lie. American Horror Story kind of did. Almost. Sort of

WeDoNotSow · 16/12/2016 21:46
