to think there's too much sex on Netflix?

Not to be too puritanical... Part of the reason I got the subscription was so my ageing dad would have something decent to watch over Christmas!

The Medicis is the latest offender. I want to watch an interesting series with the family, without being subjected to intermittent scenes featuring Florentine whores getting rid, to put it bluntly.

Can they not at least have a "parent-friendly" button to avoid uncomfortable scenes?? I've nothing against a good sex scene when relevant to the story but it just seems totally gratuitous most of the time.

Must watch Medicis .....runs away

Birdsgottafly · 16/12/2016 21:54

I've never heard the phrase "getting rid", it doesn't make sense, unless they're killing people.

Trills · 16/12/2016 21:56

I agree Birdsgotta

There are many euphemisms for sex, but that's not one of them

Ineedmorelemonpledge · 16/12/2016 21:56

It's great isn't it.

I love watching Spartacus for the gratuitous oily men wrestling in a fort scenes, then rubbing each other down in a bath house before engaging in further homoerotic ruffy tumbles.

Apparently there's a story line and dialogue in it too!

WeDoNotSow · 16/12/2016 21:58

I've never seen it. I just read 'get rid' as their having lots of unprotected sex and therefore lots of abortions

LeadPipe · 16/12/2016 21:59

I was confused by that too. "Getting rid"

Did she mean "being ridden"?

KayTee87 · 16/12/2016 22:08

I'm a parent - didn't know I wasn't allowed to watch stuff with sex in it ShockGrin

Nicknameofawesome · 16/12/2016 22:36

Everything is age related. If sex scenes offend you stick to PG ratings. You can set it to eliminate anything rated over PG. it's called kids mode.

KissinKate · 16/12/2016 23:54

Yes, as in ridden, lol. I was also watching a few other things which seem to be much the same.

How about The Crown for your Dad? Though you might want to talk loudly over the bit where Philip asks Liz for a BJ....

singleandfabulous · 17/12/2016 00:04

UnbornMortificado

Blood and Sand? / Gods of the arena?

I must admit I watch just for the hot men Grin

RustyBear · 17/12/2016 00:05

"doesn't make sense, unless they're killing people."
Popular history series about 15th century Italy? They will definitely be killing people...

KissinKate · 17/12/2016 00:08

The Crown's brilliant, isn't it! Can't wait for season 2. Thought that scene was a bit cringey though...

Without sex none of us would be here. It's not that big a deal.

SaucyJack · 17/12/2016 00:15

PAW Patrol is good clean family fun.

lokisglowstickofdestiny1 · 17/12/2016 00:18

There's a story line in Spartacus? I'll have to go and watch it again to check on that!

kali110 · 17/12/2016 00:30

IneedAqueenMortificadoNickname think i'm watching the wrong thing too!

PenguinsandPebbles · 17/12/2016 00:30

I wasn't trying to take the piss, but a blanket ban on sex on Netflix is a little OTT

My mum recently announced drunk at the time that she had watched magic mike and would like to start dating again. I hope she does to honest but I don't want the details. She's late 60's

I get it can be a little awkward watching a full on sex scene with a parent... I honestly don't think they would feel totally comfortable either, in fact I was watching something recently with my mum which got a little risky and she was tipsy I'm a bad influence and she commented something along the lines of "oh that looks interesting" through her uncomfortable ness

Cup of tea anyone :)

ClopySow · 17/12/2016 01:08

I'll let you into a little secret...your dads had sex at least once.

StStrattersOfMN · 17/12/2016 02:09

I'm having horrible flashbacks to the time my mother got smashed on saki in the local Chinese, and regaled DH and I with stories about her sex life with various OM. Apparently her nickname for one was 'Tennis Balls'.

Mortifying doesn't even begin to cut it, and she wouldn't STFU.
