To think we're going on a bear hunt is boring and not a new classic

My three year old daughter has never liked it and I find it dull and not particularly charming. Everyone else I know loves it and now it's the main t.v event for pre-schoolers being dramatised on Christmas Eve. Is it just me?

Yanbu. Neither of my son's have ever shown anything other than mild indifference to it, even when ds1 saw the stage show. Not their bag.

Also, isn't it on at about 7.30pm? Mine won't be up anyway.

I hated it whilst reading it to dc but they like it which is surely the reason you read it. Its repetitive. I also never understand why theres a bear in the uk but take it set somewhere else. A bit like in the midnight garden...anyone over 2 doesnt like it.

It's all in the reading. If monotonous then yes it is dull. You need to inject a sense of drama!

Dgs loves it, I learnt it 55 years ago so seeing/hearing it is quite nostalgic.

I've just read that as Going On A Beer Hunt. Much more entertaining. DS didn't like it either. He's very Hmmit's on.

I don't like it either- strange story and a bit weird that they have gone hunting and then get chased which seems a bit scary for young children!

Another one here who thinks he didn't write it. I am pretty sure I knew it as an action rhyme long before I ever saw a copy of the book.

Yep, I find it dull. It was ok as an action 'song' but I've never liked the book.

It makes me angry on the bear's behalf. The family interrupt it's peace, wind it up and then run away from it. So rude.
